The truth is that there is a stigma to being a black athlete and for some reason when basketball players get physical, it's looked down upon and they are called thugs. Just because basketball isn't as physical as hockey, doesn't mean it isn't physical at all. It's not a "race card" it a legitimate observation. Same reason they wanted to stop NBA players from having tattoo's and such.
