Are those dancers paid or on drugs? Damn shame because in earphones this is a bloody good song, one of Paul's better ones and I've been listening since I had the money to buy vinyl (to be fair, it was on its way out and very thin)
the mess may not be perfect but SO many MOR bands stole the riff! ah, the world was a simpler, if hideously sartorially challenged place in 1973.
in 73' you didn't have Anatares Auto-tune to 'fix' vocals, you didn't have the net, or much cable tv, (new york had it, however.) so Paul, HAD to come up with something decent for his special JPM and I reckon, he just about did, yeah?
I agree with you thumbsaloft, Paul needs to do more Wings and early day songs in concert. It seems like all we hear now from him in the Wings era is Band on the Run, and live and let die. Those are about all. anywho I love the song and the video, great post! Kashmir87
Well.., let's just say Wings had some great moments, mostly due to Paul's incredible talent, Denny's talent as a solid side-man, and the Lovely Linda's devotion, and in my opinion, solid harmonies....but this don't quite work....(Still, Wings rock, and all these years later, are great fun!)
What's your problem with the mullet? I like the mullet. It is the most versatile hairstyle in the world. You seem to criticise because, either you have thinning hair, or your parents forced to cut your hair against your will.
You make it seem like Linda was in the way - which she wasn't. I can't people still have grudges against people they never knew - people who are now dead.
u dumb moron...linda was great...i saw her in concert with her husband paul more then you ever did you ignorant little fool...no one said anything wrong wbout linda..i'm just saying that if paul was single he would be boning those hot babes as he did when he was on tour with the beatles...

The Mess is McCartney's ridiculous songs. To get out of the Mess He's In he should stop composing and apologize to all of us for putting out bad non-songs.
Sorry, I misspelled my last message, McCartney is the biggest, the greatest and the most handsome writer/singer I've ever meet in my whole life. I really love him and his works, and this is one of my highlights, beacause it's sweet and strong. Ooooooh sweet datling, you're not a mess, you are simply the greatest!
The Mess is sweet, this is a beautiful pretty taste of what Macca can do. No doubt he' the greats, and I have my feet on the clouds, the more I see him. From México with Love
Paul is still The Walrus "Nod Your Head" (from his latest LP) has got bit of"I'm The Walrus","Helter Skelter"and"Live And Let Die"and it makes me go berserk!Great to see ConcordRecords have posted it on YouTube as a music video(#4)featuring McCartney&Babes. The LP"Memory Almost Full"is friggin great and reminds me of the magic of the Sgt.Pepper and Abbey Road LP's. Indeed the tracks are so Sgt.Pepper-ish and Abbey Road-ish.What a blast from the past and with a bit of the Wings magic.
You're High. There are only 3 things missing when comparing M.A.F. to great Beatle albums...John, George and Ringo. M.A.F. is good, not as good as Chaos & Creation in the Backyard. And it can't touch Pepper or Abbey Road. Quit spamming all of the McCartney YouTube links with your mindless babble, fromalovertoafriend!.
It was a televised performance so it was probably in front of a studio audience which also accounts for a more quiet setting. Paul was also playing songs which had yet to be released so the audience wouldn't have known them. Another song not used for broadcast was "Soily," released on Wings Over America a few years later.
C'mon, people! This was the 70's! That was a SHAG, not a mullet! Mullets didn't exist until the 80's. Great vid! I loved that special, everone in my house gathered around to watch it. Paul rocks! And I love Linda, she rocks just as hard!
this was recorded at elstree TV and Film studios ,Borehamwood, herts Uk on a sunday afternoon in march 1973.I was in the audience!!
It was the first time I had seen mcCartney live.He ran through the full set twice as the first time the audience were too sedate. Not that surprising as the studio lights were so hot it was like asking us to get up and dance in a sauna.
The set was about 30 minutes and included Hi Hi Hi ,My Love, When the Night and Big Barn Bed(from Red Rose Speedway - not released until a few weeks after this set).I think he may also have sung Give Ireland Back to the Irish .The rest I'm struggling to remember as it was over 30 years ago. He certainly didn't do any Beatles stuff . It was the first time I had seen him live so even though the set wasn't anywhere near as good as I saw on his later tours ,it was a magical experience.
The Early Wings stuff is so great to see & hear. A lot of their early shows were done in college auditoriums and the cost of the shows were like a buck! Hey Now! Such a deal.
He's had 2 good bands after the Fabs - the '76 "Over America" group, and the "Run Devil Run" musicians. This incarnation is garage band quality. His vocal is perfect, however....and only Paul could do a mullet that cool!
THIS is rock'n'roll. Paul and Wings forever!

And note the dubbed rhythm applause during the last part of the song.
