The interference is coming from your hand. Due to ignorance and psuedoscience, the FCC and other governing bodies are lead to believe that cell phone radiation causes health problems. Well the good news is that it doesn't. The bad news is that based on this false premise, w have new antennae regulations -- they want manufacturers to put the antennae at the bottom of the phone, rather than at the top. In terms of reception, this design is major fail, and the new iphone4 has the same problem.
Im dumb, after buying this(ordered yesterday unlocked one) i realized the 3G from ATT doesn't work on the phone... Im damn pissed off. first i didn't switch to tmobile cuz there is no 3g on tmobile on my island, then i said well i buy the unlocked one for 530 and use it on att with 3g... and now it doesn't work... WOW IM PISSED.
will they put it someday 3g on nexus one from att?
After trying this test in Ireland (which has great 3G coverage) and the phone didn't want to swap to EDGE nor did the signal quality degrade.
From this the only conclusion that I can think off is that the 3G coverage in the US isn't to the standard we have in Europe. Is it the case that the US operators deploy less towers to an area than European operators deploy?
Believe I remember reading that because of this phone radios need to work at a higher power because the cell signals are indeed weak

This shows that the OTA Update didn't fix this problem and that covering the bottom / backside of the phone with your hand will be enough to lose 3G connectivity.
I have seen this "problem" happen on my friends Iphone. He demonstrated this "problem" by laying down my Nexus One and his Iphone next to eachother. Same thing happenend to both phones.
was wondering if its just t-mobile service because i was gonna switch to it because its cheaper but now i got second thoughts. i like the reviews for the nexus one but now i have second thoughts.
See the comment aboove from yours by Kyosanym his Friend has an iphone IM SHURE he has AT&T and even if he had it on another phone provider its the phone NOT the company
Maybe it's your service provider. True, the phone just came out and is naturally going to have some issues, but this seems more like a network problem to me. I recommend Verizon, they have the best service and connection.
Good observation, I have the same problem here in UK. By picking it up in hand signal strength reduces by 1 to 2 bars, although it stays on 3G. Download speed shrinks from 3.5mbps to 2mbps, but upload stays the same ca. 1.6mbps. Thanks for video!
Your hand is just radio-active

So, do you also have touch screen calibration issues as well? Wondering if each phone has specific problems or if its all together.
