So I'm REALLY confused... So according to the last video Lucifer shows Dante that he really died and never defeated death... meaning that everything after he actually got stabbed in the back was really a hallucination of hell... so technically he didn't slay all those demons in all the circles of hell... Then why would Lucifer allow him to think that the whole time? Why not just disintegrate the grim scythe instantly and torture him forever? Or was it his plan all along to turn into a snake?

@Sharpie4123 What is most painfull? To know right away you died and went to hell, or to let a person keep hope for a while, only to crush it at the end? Although, it can be itnerpreted another way, since Lucifer says at the end that he is sick of his refusal to submit, it can be seen as his soul refusing to give in to damnation, and so the scythe would simply be a manifestation of spiritual strenght.

Or they just needed a weapon for the game, but depth can happen by accident.

@Sharpie4123 Actually it wasn't just hallucinations. By defeating Death, Dante managed to keep acting freely, unlike the damned that were powerlessly judged by Minos. Also, Lucifer needed to make Dante believe he still had a chance, since only a mortal could free him from his icy prison, so he kept Dante strong and armed to that end. I don't know why the scythe merely disappeared, though.

@wishdawn2 I'd say he's the type of guy, but remember that Dante's Inferno takes place a few years after the seige of Jerusalem in 1191, while Assassin's Creed takes place afew years prior to that. Even then, the real poem takes place in 1300
