The people of God should not blindly follow what they see other people that call themselves Christians do……it is the Bible that should be our guide and not simple each other, because not everything one does is supported in the Bible. And when I say the Bible I am speaking about the New Testament, because we are not under the Old Testament system.

Well I suppose that a layperson would have to decide to take up the task of combing through the writings of all of historical Christianity to discover what the scholars throughout history wrote. Then we could come back and see if what John MacArthur says is consistent with what biblical scholars wrote throughout historical Christianity.
