  • I agree with Bill Moyers, he is a bright man and is very optimistic that government can work when it needs to be there.

  • Republicans say "Obama's an elitist" and their party faithful repeat the phrase without a shred of questioning EVER. Weak minds like simple ideas.

Barack Obama, FYI, lives in Hyde Park, also the home of Milton Freidman, the GOD of Republican/conservative free market economic policy. How come the Republicans get to worship Milton Freidman and Freidman gets a pass on the "elitist" charge, but Obama gets saddled with it? Moron Republicans. All of them.

  • Bill Moyers is one of the great intellectuals that this land of the free, America, had produced. He is very intelligent and charismatic just like the plethora of great men that came before him, Tom Paine to cite among the few.

  • @Rasscoco I read he is a member of the UCC. Have you ever been in that church?

  • I'll take an empty suit full of hope over a dictator any day.

  • I do think there will be more hiring but, not in the area to serve the greater good of this country.

The govmt is a constantly demeaning the "working class" citizens by it's adding pressure on big Companies. Hence, (the govmt) they need to trouble shoot all over again just so they can keep their own jobs.

  • How many people think that if govt makes it financially more difficult for businesses to expand and hire that there will be more hiring.

  • That's partly true. The other part of the truth is that businesses will always hide behind the "government is overregulating!" argument to increase their profits by decreasing worker pay (often accomplished by moving jobs to countries with little or no minimum wage and fewer worker protections).

  • So what is wrong with them making more money?

  • Nothing's wrong with them making more money. That's their purpose. We shouldn't feel obligated to pave the way for them, however. The government ought to protect the country, both militarily and economically.

  • People are complaining about others being left leaning when we have a Russian Jew scratch that Jewsish Russian leading our county's Homeland Security Department! Why aren't more people frustrated at the fact that many of our politicians hold dual citizenship to Israel.Being the aparthied country that it is,Israel will now allow Russians to travel to Tel Aviv for up to three months on a visa.Plenty of time for a Russian emigre to get his fake passport to the U.S. from one of gods chosen people.

  • I saw Bill Moyers in K.C. MO. I met him personally after his forum. He was extremely nice. Moyers worked for LBJ during Vietnam. "Cupcake liberal" ? I don't think so.

    Moyers is a realist.

  • He, "didn't have time" to ask the rev about the government infecting blacks with aids. The interview was pandering. HE IS A CUPCAKE LIBERAL ...like you. The reality of LA LA Liberal Land. They love Barack...an empty suit full of 'hope'.

  • I detest Bill Moyers. Bernard Goldberg was on target.

  • We pay taxes to support the leftist propaganda network of these two softi-headed pinhead intellects. It is a crime! KILL BIG BIRD TO GET THESE TWO! It must be done.

  • Give some specifics. What's your problem? Where are they wrong? What kind of values do YOU support? Let me guess - don't cut our taxes (as the multinational corporations take you down).

  • Socialist Comrade! Eat it

  • Hi salinagrrrl69 - I would doubt the interviews by Charlie Rose would qualify in anyone's book as 'left leaning' - he's a mainstream establishment journalist who has a 'job' to do - nothing more, nothing less. For opinion, tho, I would take exception to 'Halcyon083' comments below as I believe the citizens of the US are far more involved/complicated/concerned than you would have us believe based on your analysis - the 'Democratic Party' should represent everyone - it struggles to do that.

  • He is quite left. I have heard him for years. He is very much a cupcake liberal who host cupcake liberals. If you think he is 'mainsteam' you are correct. The Mainstream is aaaalll left.

  • I may add, they aren't our friends, but his colleagues.

  • I would also like to point out to people who trash the so-called "uneducated" that there are people with high levels of education that are hateful and ignorant. My husband is a Phd and to hang out with some of his friends, well, lets say they are some of the most elitist people you have ever met, yet they all pose as being down-to-earth. They always comment negatively about the "average person".

  • Whats your deal w/ being educated?

  • I never said that wasn't true. I was just making a statement that it works both ways. Just some advice: usually if you want to make a point you don't go insulting people that you know nothing about. I was just stating why some people are wary of Obama. For all you know I could be black and educated. I am formally educated, but I know people with only high school education that know volumes more than I do about many things. Uneducated people aren't necessarily stupid-that is elitist.

  • as far as i'm concerned, a candidate shouldn't be held responsible for the ravings of his friends or associates. To be blunt, everyone knows one or two crazies. And as usual Moyers is the most thoughtful and man on television.

  • Moyers is despicable.

  • People make so much of the perceived connection between Obama and Reverend Wright, in terms of guilt by association, but what about McCain and Rev. John Hagee? If you want to talk about ill-advised comments, how about Hagee's comment that Hurricane Katrina was God's wrath on the sins of New Orleans. McCain accepting Hagee's endoresement is like accepting the endorsement of Osama bin Laden. Morally, I would prefer to see McCain distance himself from evangelical extremists like Hagee.

  • As far as I'm concerned, Hagee is much more offensive than Wright. Yet ... not a peep about Hagee's offensiveness from the media - no flogging the issue until there's an outcry. Complete hypocrisy.

  • Agreed! The blatant hypocrisy is nausiating.

  • Sen. Obama is more intelligent, and will make a better president than McCain.

  • I don't know who is more intelligent or who will make a better president. At this point I just want Bush and his cronies out. I'd vote for Ronald McDonald for President if it meant getting Dubya out sooner. At the end of the day what's more important is who has control of Congress next year. Even if Obama or Clinton become President it won't matter at all if the Democrats lose control of Congress, and I see that as a distinct possibility. I just see more of the same for the next 4 years.

  • Obama gunna win and aint nuthin you can do fuckers. Soon the weak scared white parasite will have to bow down before the strong proud SUPERIOR African man. Deal with it. You had your turn and fucked up teh country. Now the black man will take control and run things the right way.

  • are you nuts? Boo, this is not representative of Barack Obama. This kind of talk is divisive and straight out wrong! Do we as a nation need to look at our differences or our commonalities? This is that crab in the barrel mentality and shame on you for fostering such vile. You do not make MalcomX or MLK proud. You are mis representing me and the Obama campaign. Get a clue about what is really important in this world. You sound ignorant and as stupid as those you claim are racist/stupid!

  • Ur an idiot.

  • these comments are why people are wary of Obama. Black candidates NEED white votes.. they can't completely disenfranchise them. I think most Hispanics would not want to vote for a black person--there seems to be animosity between these two groups.

  • working class = white

  • O, Come on Charlie....He's Black. Yes, the good old USA Fears Blacks. You've heard them, we all Have, the "Bad" or, "Black Part of Town".

Elitist, a select group of people with outstanding personal abilities, intellect, wealth, specialized training or experience, or other distinctive attributes.

Its another scare or "Trigger word" used to anger ignorant people. Would you Vote for a US President who wasn't an Elitist, you don't elect non-elitist to control the most powerful nation on earth.

  • Absolute BS. Dear Mr Obama is the king of eloquent emptiness. What is wrong with Obama is he wants to be everything to every body and that is impossible. A true leader is one who can say and do what is unpopular. To be elected you've got to be a story teller, and as soon as you're elected you forget the story. All politicians are just the same.

  • By a couple million do you mean like 200-300 million?

  • Mike Gravel is a good guy, but wud have been a terrible president.
