Hey brother - excellent work. I am trying to emulate what I like and ignore what I don't, you are on the "like" list. I am very raw to logic and loop-based programs yet have a strong university-level music theory background. I am purposely not RTFM'ing here because I prefer to get good mentorship/advice from people who can do what I want to be able to do.
Anyhow, can you briefly outline your path to where you are now? What are your recommended steps to take in learning what you do?
@srmrmatt Good ol' experimentation. I thankfully had a lot of free time to mess around with every little thing in Logic, and it's really helped. Just devote a whole new project to screwing around with a setting or synthesizer, and you'll eventually get it down- don't be afraid to tick every option and to twist every knob to see what they do; they're not going to break anything. Although, RTFM does always help with the technical stuff... :D
@Goomba4001 Hehe...fair enough brother. Let me just throw this at you: do you know any good ways to go from understanding the "sheet music" model of music making to getting into and being able to play what's in your head using loops? Sorry to be such a goon here, totally being lazy and not RTFM'ing, I know...just hoping you might have some pointer somewhere to save me a little hunting.
@srmrmatt When editing MIDI, change "Piano Roll" at the bottom of the screen to "Score"- you should be a lot more comfortable with that. You don't necessarily have to use loops- you can just make one very, very long MIDI region that you can place all of your notes in, if it is easier.
I use Garage band... I just thought this did more that just act as a controller. . . not impressed with it.

How did you trigger the kick and high hat loops with the pad???
jatinpuri 8 months ago
@jatinpuri The Ultrabeat instrument has triggered loops. SFLogicNinja has a good tutorial on it- it's where I learned how to do it. XD
