@027220 Thanks for asking, I uploaded these videos from my own DVD, so they are original. If you wish to reupload from me, please kindly credit the original source: me.
This is why to me, the Alien canon ended after the second film... The 3rd is a good stand alone piece, but not a great film film, although that's more due to the script than Fincher's directing IMHO, and the 4th was just awful.
@WhtMike2006 I don't consider any of the sequels to be canon. Alien is the best film in the series and while I consider all of the films in the series to be good in their own ways, none hold a candle to the first one. None of the same writers of the first one wrote any of the sequels. Those were all written by fans of Alien so the way I see it, ALL of the sequels are just glorified fan-fiction. Its the same with any "series" where the sequels aren't touched by the creators of the originals.
@MythicDude Eh, okay, fine. On the same token, Aliens is one of the only sequels that is on par with the original. That's much of the reason it gets that praise. If you really love Alien and/or Aliens, watch Youtube user: robag88's film analysis on Alien and Aliens. They are incredible and you will get a new perspective on the films. David Giler and Walter Hill are both credited as story contributors for Aliens and they wrote the final draft of Alien.
@WhtMike2006 Hey, Aliens is a hell of a fun movie but its not a good sequel. Imagine if these days someone saw a movie like, say, Hard Candy and decided to make a sequel but made it with the same tone, style and such as say, Iron Man. Yeh it would be fun to watch and a good movie on its own but the fact that it came from something so different and brillant its own respect, kinda lowers the experiance a little bit. Like I said, Aliens=Good movie, crappy sequel.
@MythicDude Aliens does everything a sequel should do. It introduces new elements and furthers the story arc of Ellen Ripley. Everything is a logical progression from the first film and that's why I would consider it canon in a way that the 3rd and 4th films simply don't do. Cameron was obviously a huge fan of Alien and advanced the story with rich characters and a plot that was not only logical but also took Ripley in a direction that was important for her growth as a human being.
@WhtMike2006 I disagree. Cameron was a fan of the orginal but wanted to make it "bigger, louder, faster, better!". Theres a lot of cliched characters in Aliens and unnessicary tooth-rottingly sweet parts (etc. "Mommy!", "Can I dream?"). Also the tone and essence of Alien is competley gone in Aliens. The xenomorph is a dark, mysterious, predatory force in Alien but in Aliens theres a massive horde of the them and they all get blow away by a buch of brain-washed, trigger happy jearheads.
@MythicDude I think if Aliens was a rip off of Alien... it would have been terrible. The thing that makes Aliens great is that it is something different. The cliche characters are only cliche because of this movie. Alien created horror cliches; Aliens created action cliches. Both movies also follow the same structure but are done completely different, which is what sequels should do. If you didn't notice, both movies kill every character that displayed ignorance. No need for text walls...
"The Aliens is Pretty mutch a bad dream" he sayed.
But the real Nightmare came when bad directors made the Terible sequels like Alien 3, Alien Resurection, Terminator B: Rise Of The Machines and the AVP movies.
I dont know about Terminator Salvation?, i dont have mutch faith in McG, he did make Charlies Angels you know, he should just go back and make music videos.
Like any director should stay of the mythology of an other. Like Paul W. Anderson would make a sequel to Lost Highway from David Lynch or Michael Bay a remake of The Mirror from Tarkovski. It just wouldn't work.
But Jean-Pierre Jeunet did pretty good movies and verry artistic ones like Amélie Poulain, The City of lost Children and Delicatessen.
True true. And Delgo is planning for a lawsiut. Because they think it a rip-off. But cameron begon writting back in 1996 and delgo 1998. Think they want to get some money back from there 40 million project that flop't like 500.000 dollar in the opening weekend.

A true film maker and visionary. Terminator and Aliens, two of the best Sci-fi movies ever made.
He knows what's going on.

David Fincher is not a bad director. Neither is Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Perhaps they just weren't at their best working with other people's material.

Dont worry.
Iron Jim is going to be back 18th of december this year, with his first Sci-fi action adventure since T2.
Its called AVATAR and is shot in digital 3D.
Cameron uses his own fusion camera system in it, specialysed for a perfect 3D expiriance.
I think its safe to say that AVATAR will be the biggest picture of the year, if not the decade.

Well, Terminator Salvation is not different, it is pretty true to the spirit of the contemporary bad directors and tasteless crowds.

90s? This is mid eighties.

of course I meant to type the 80s! 8 and 9 are next to each. It's a simple key mistake. I didn't even notice until now.
this was done at the time of the cinema release, 1986.
