I dread the day when I hear the news he's passed away. We need to start educating ourselves and the younger generation about who we are, what we are, where we come from, and how every other living thing on the planet is indeed our family in one way or another. There will never be another Attenborough, just as there will never be another Darwin, but in the future I hope our species will be truly intelligent, by learning what is on our front door steps and beyond, not what is in a fairy tale book.

My dad is a biology teacher and we'd watch a VHS of the old Life on Earth series. Attenborough's one of the many voices I grew up with on account of my dad - that and Harry Kalas, the Phillies' announcer.
