i've never loved such a current song. i think it came out the year my brother was born. 1993? this man is great :) i saw him in concert in 2008. he's still got it!
I grew up with the Steve Miller Band and have much respect for his legacy. The Gangster of Love wrote so many great songs, including this one. However, Sahara Hotnights just knock this cut out of the park - a much better version than Steve's original. The Swedish power-pop band - four amazing women - kicked off "Sparks," their 2009 all-covers album, with a faster, more vibrant version of "Wide River." Search on youtube, and you'll see a great performance of it.
This is good, rare stuff, from the rehearsal of that evening's show. Brandford leading the rehearsal, Jay is too big to do it at the time. This is from 1993, I have the performance that aired that night.
this is a newer song, personally i have to say its O.k, its not his best song, the songs from Abracadabera and Book of dreams is the best music out there.
If you only thought Steve Miller started with The Joker, go back. Check out his Number 5 album from 1969 or Anthology circa early 1970's. He has set some standards in the pop music industry with powerful melodic ballads and great guitar work, regardless of what the modern youth know here. Miller recorded portions of his Anthology with help from Paul McCartney. The earlier Steve Miller Band featured Boz Scaggs. He particularly likes his Italian X-Rays album as he mentioned in interviews. -Mark
My friend Chris Mcarty wrote this one along with many others that Steve performs. Chris Mccarty google him he may come up and you will hear many other tunes that Steve recorded and some that he didn't but may do in the future if there is time left to do such a thing
sometimes i wondered if this really cool song really existed...thanks this is neat...this is the reason why i believe smb is okay beyond it's usual joker stuff. ..you know?
live is not so good of a version!!

This is a great song, lovely sentiments and pleasing music. Maybe the nay-sayers are in truth relatives of those 'Garden Party' folk.

One more thing - be sure you switch to the HQ version of this video - the MP4 sound tracking is much more clear....!!
