I've seen this movie so many times, and it's just one of those great movies you can watch over and over. Jimmy Stewart was superb as Jefferson Smith. Jean Arthur, Claude Raines and Thomas Mitchell were great as well.
Yup...here in Illinois, our Junior Senator spun 18 months as a freshman legislator into a qualification to be President of the United States. Until he came along I didn't think they'd ever find anyone to the left of Dick Durbin.
Yes, the designations ae based on who has been in the Senate the longest. John Kerry used to be the Junior Senator from Massachusetts until ted kennedy passed away, now he is the Senior Senator, and Scott Brown is the Junior Senator.
What a great scene this is. I think I've watched this movie only once. Great movie. The nervousness of Jimmy Stewart! Heaven rest his wonderfull soul. Thanks again. :)
Who is the "Mr. Smith" of the 2008 presidential campaign? RON PAUL!!! He's the only candidate that truly defends and upholds our largely ignored Constitution. Vote for Ron Paul and donate to his campaign. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson would want you to.
Hi, I like your video clip and have rated it as awesome. Please check out mine on some 1930's movie star cards. They include: James Stewart, Gary Cooper, Clark Gable, Jean Harlow, Maurice Chevalier, Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford ....

A great scene, one of many in this film (which was probably Capra's best).

Jimmy was never more lovable or handsome than in this movie. Pause at the 2:03 mark to see what I mean.
Oh, and the movie's pretty amazing too.
