2 month's in university and already fed up with my classmates they don't do jack shit when we are tasked with whatever! I already signed up for the military again. Hope to command one of these in 2 years time. Beast from Germany, improved with help of European allies.
How could a german technique like Leo II be so good although former minister of defense of the USA, Mr. Donald Rumsfeld, sorts us, the Germans, behind countries like Kuba, Lybia. So how can such an underdeveloped Nation as Germany build such an High Tech weapon. Mr. R., you are absolutely wrong ...
Think about it - Comemierda, descendant from German ancestors....
FIRST 1S TO MAKE THE STERMGEWHER(ASSUALT RIFLE) HAD THE MOST FEARED TANK OF WW2 TIGER TANK AND NOW THE HAVE THE BEST ARTILLERY REGIMENT AND BEST TANK IN THE WORLD SHAME ON THOSE WHO SAY GERMANS ARNT SMART
@The143500 Anyone who says that is just stupid. Everything German I've came into contact with has lasted ages, and been put through a lot. German Engineering ftw
I CANNOT think of a better MBT beside this magnificent -fast -agile-reliable-very manuverable-excellent rheinmental maingun-strong history since the very first leopard I 105 mm small turret, what else? smart country will buy it imidiatelly......along with marder APC that are the same performance......m113?---> shitty box, i prefer BMP II that are far more agile.............Deutchland UBER ALLES....HEIL!!!
the best main battle tank in the world.....fuel economy is much better than the abrams fuel thirsty tank........the challenger is too slow compare to this excellent MBT.......united states must learn more to built more reliable but also more economical and user friendly......
Abrams is very reliable and its proven in harsh combat. The fuel consumption of it isn't the best but people exaggerate how bad it is. They have improved it a bit with the new auxiliary power unit which helps fuel consumption. Plus they got a program going for a new gas turbine engine to reduce consumption by 35% and also smaller quieter less heat output etc.
In logistical terms it's not that much different they just need more fuel trucks, all tanks gotta refuel, M1 has further range than CR2.
@leonids2000 Allright, your passion for russian tanks i beliefe is reasonable and interesting. I had a very big interest for MBT since around 1991-1992 when i still in junior school / when i'm still about 12-13 years old. I always interested in armoured combat warfare from WW II in tunisia, normandie 1994 above, eastern russia and city block tank to tank combat inside germany in early 1945. All in german's favour in sense of quality not quantity like the US and Russia had, like for example :
@leonids2000 the excellent all around T-34 for sloped armour and mobility(and then followed by panthers/mark V panzer which even has better 75 mm high velocity gun, and the poor made american shermans which is simply won by its numbers. So all tank Aces is from Germany, you can count on my witness to their immense achievement of high score tank kills on their gun barrel and turret with white stripes. I think thats the superiority of german high velocity long barrel gun that can penetrate armour
@leonids2000 well beyond 3,5 kilometres. Thats is in 1943! with tiger-I and panthers, despite their lack of durabilities for engine & transmissions, heavy maintanance, and weight, thats the proof that for almost 70 yrs later the germans had evolved so much with leopard 1, 1A2, 1A3, 1A4, 1A5 Continued w/ leopard 2, 2A4, 2A5 & 2A6 which all are highly sucessfull and bought by smart and caucious country like Sweden, Swiss, Dutch, Denmark and Finland! All nations with bad memories of being invaded.
@leonids2000 They have made a correct decision i guess because no other MBT had the reliable marine engine like the leopards does. Its lighter, fuel saver, high durability and easy access by its crew. Also can be replaced in under 1 hour by experienced crew. in 1992 i also began to make 1/35 model kits of all kinds of MBT which include the M1A1 abrams, leopard IA4, leopard IIA5 and T-72 M Russian MBT. all with their companions like the bradley's, m113's and some excellent BMP-1s, but still ...
@leonids2000 i prefer Leopards since they are the perfect balance of mobility, armour for self protection and fire power with its famous 120 high velocity gun. The russian also has the T-80 and the new black eagle MBT thats also had a big punch with 125 mm Gun. But, the russian MBT still have to cope with severe difficulty in firing while moving in high speed. Thats is the main reason why i drop down the russian MBT. Also in Night Fighting Russian tanks are not well equipped until very late 2001
@leonids2000 My study of my 1/35 models in early 1990's are : russian MBT are much lighter and fuel economic at that time compare to poor US M48s & M60s which are ridicilously tall and high profile with its ugly turret and hull. Even with the M1s & M1A1s the russian tank are far ahead in fording river techs with its entire body of the tank submerged in river beds and low silhoutte shapes. Armour tech maybe won a little bit by US and fire while moving is on the americans side. Leclerc and chell-
@leonids2000 -llenger are in sense of marketing and in numbers are far behind germany, US and Russia. French are always poor in armour and protection but quite agile for manuverbilities, but still lack the punch' and knockout blow like the leopard had. Challenger are too heavy, cumbersome, slow compare to almost all 1991-up MBTs, clumsy and too few built to make any effect on world MBT powers especially in mainland europe. Challenger also an expensive MBT to maintain & overhaulled(impractical)
@leonids2000 I didn't meant to bother you and you make you so busy deleting those bulking replies to your email, but honestly in the beginning of 1990's when T-80 is till very new, and yet t-72 is proven to be very uncomfortable, narrow inside, and dislike by its crew because the dangerous positioning of the projectiles casing / magazine. Yes t-72 is far more economical w/ diesel fuel and sturdy engine, and quite light compare to enourmous M1A1 That exceed 70 tons, but it cannot fire while mo
@leonids2000 moving in high speed. T-72 must brake and almost moving just 10 mph plus to be capable of shooting still targets. Its even more difficult to shoot enemy's moving tanks and APCs. No gun barrel stabilization system. At that time i also amazed with russian tank capabilities to use a snorkel to 'dive' into a river! has 2 reserve big fuel drum in the back, and big 125 mm gun BUT in night combat T-72 suffers heavy drawbacks. T-80 is a bit better, but in early 1990's leopard are far ahead.
@tomicalover I'm inclined to agree, but I mean, The Abrams M1A1 MBT is pretty large and menacing, which maybe is the effect they're aiming for? I dunno. just saying.
@Tridecalogism Yes, both tanks are menacing, but abrams consume too much gas and support vehicles to follow them.......what use of tank if it's only a sitting duck waiting for columns & columns of gas tanker like the Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck (project name for the M977 HEMTT series) to support a platoon of gas gussler abrams.....damn lycoming turbine engine, why don't use a powerplant like the leopards, the same HP and torque? it's not mistakable the leopard are the most ideal....
Naja.
Do not misunderstand me. I really like the leopard 2, but without checking in battle, it is impossible to objectively evaluate the tank.
