Well J-Rock just means japanese rock, so Visual Kei would qualify. But I prefer just using the term J-Rock, because most japanese bands are too diverse to be divided up into genres. The western genre discussions are pretty ridiculous sometimes.

wonderful, some visual kei buffoonery... visual kei is not only an affront to rock but a massive slight to the perception of what japanese rock has to offer--especially to a uninformed foreign audience. grown men slathering a dozen cakes of gaudy circus makeup and adopting various glam affectations does little to compensate for the watered down, sugar-infused, populist permutations on metal/glam/goth-rock that form the basis of the heinous subculture and muzak that is visual kei.
