love the tutorial. how do you do voice over. You have amazing patience. I admire this video. I subscribe. Thanks. I did similar sty;le this weekend but with real thread. I am going to try this method, since i have the lock look is versatile especially in the cold month.
When I was transitioning waaaay back in 1996, I used to do yard braids. As you know, I didn't do a big chop at once. Glad to know it's still a cute option.
OMG I couldn't do this! It seems very tedious and like it would take a long time. You see, I went natural for four years about 5 years ago (since then I've relaxed again), and I remember as my hair got longer and longer (down to the middle of my back), I would spend 6+ hr braiding/twisting sessions in the mirror. I got lazy and relaxed because I can't deal with spending that much time on my hair.
What is your daily regimen? Maybe if I knew an easier way I could go natural again. :D
We do the same thing in Nigeria. My mom would use hair thread which is much thicker than sewing thread. She would always do this on large sections of hair. I never thought to do it on smaller sections. This seems like a great protective style that offers stretching of the hair. It prevents excessive tangling and unwanted locking of hair for long term protective styling.

question - wouldn't the yarn be drying to the hair strands? It seems like the kind of material that would suck moisture out no?

just another tip.
100% acrylic yarn is recommended over wool yarn because wool yarn will loc up your hair
