@sakurahayati Hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, tornadoes are disasters. This is not a disaster. This is a beautiful and powerful occurrence rarely witnessed by people, but it is not (and I repeat) NOT a disaster. It is a rare glimpse at the power of nature. No, they're not stupid. They know they're lucky to have been there to witness such a magnificent calving of this glacier, and were understandably excited! I'm jealous. This was awesome.

I have witnessed global warming for years. Coming from Alaska, I have seen glaciers retreat. I came across this video called "Alaska, The Tracy Arm Experience" on Film Baby that shows global warming in action.
I showed my former global warming skeptic friends this movie and they all now believe it is happening at an alarming rate.

glaciers calve thats what they do I have seen many they all do it

Actually, glaciers calve because they are advancing and become unstable as they float on the water. Glaciers advance because accumulation exceeds melting. Retreating glaciers do calve, but it is not necessarily a sign of a dying glacier.
