I find the best way to determine which one's real if you don't just follow the cursor is Mallow's Thunderbolt. The clone will take more damage.

Masher: Has a damage variance of +/-30 base damage, factored in before the timed hit multiplier. So that's up to +60 on a perfect hit. At your level, Mario's base damage v.s. Yarid was 28, +/-30, x1.5 or x2.0 for timed hits.

Lucky Hammer: Lucky effect when you make a timed hit.

Beetle-Mania: Heart makes it easier to recover when hit.

Actually, according to another video on YouTube, with the "Mushroom Boy Shop", you can use just regular mushrooms you buy from the shop. A great way to profit and get plenty of Rock Candies. (Highly recommended for a low-level run game.)

I'm actually let's playing this game as well. and the video i posted today was the fight against yaridovich XD. it's just like that time when darkmindedsith, and chuggaaconroy fought the king of ikana in majora's mask on the same day. P.S. i wasn't really expecting you to watch my LP or anything. i just thought you'd find it funny.

I was about to boast 131,000 but that last combo fucked me over 0_0..it's all about lasting long enough that there are enough shells coming on screen to cause massive combos.

Yaridovich... I hate him... so many times I lost to him. This was the one boss who drove me nuts when I first played this game.

Also, I don't know if this is true or not, but I did hear from a friend that if you wait long enough in the Yaridovich battle, Johnny may aid you in the fight. This was a long time ago, mind you.

Another way to tell is that you do more damage to the fake Yaridovich, what I like to do is that if everyone is healed, I use the Princess to check which one is the fake since she barely does 10 damage to the boss.

Also, one of the funniest things to ever happen to me while playing this game, I killed Yaridovich with a 2 damage slap from Peach.

The Mushrooms that you buy from the little Goombas in Monstro Town can also give you rewards from the Mushroom Boy if I remember correctly.

... for the level ups, if attack or magic go up by more than 1, then that's the "special" stat for that level... so the second you say the 2 str bonus, you should have known even without checking the others

The Masher is a crap shoot. It gives Mario the most gain than any weapon at this point in the game, but it has a wide range of damage and I'm told the timing is trickier than it seems. That's why I generally forgo the Masher and use the Super Hammer, because I always seem to get the shaft with pathetic damage.

Also, if you attack the fake "McCoy" (I love that), you'll do a ton more damage. In my experience, Shocker once did like 200 damage to the fake.
