Yes, this used to be the "theme song" played for the Queen Mother whenever she would attend public outings. But they had to stop playing it cause the crowds would break out laughing whenever the old lady would appear cause of the association with it to Monty Python. Poor old girl had no idea why everyone was giggling.
The name "sacbut" actually comes from the Middle French words "sacquer" (to push) and "bouter" (to pull), referring to the slide mechanism. The early sacbuts didn't go low enough to make those farty noises like the ones do now.
There are now almost one million postings at google talking of how "benny Hill considered funnier than Monty Python"!

Remember, this was a song before Monte Python. Yes it is a the theme to the movie, but it was popular march before that.

It's actually an annoying ass song with no rests if you are the only trombone playing 1 part.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
The old name for the trombone was "sackbutt", so-called because of the slightly farty sound on certain particularly frappy notes.

that was different.. not terrible, but as a trumpet player, seeing as it wasn't played on trumpet, it wasn't the best :P
