How to: Windows 7 Multiple Monitor Setup

im using a tower with an ati radeon 5400 graphics card but i have one monitor hooked up to a vga and one to an dvi the vga will not work whatsoeverand when i go through the screen resolution to extend the monitor it say i cant apply the display settings

@PoptartzAnonymous I have no experience trying to use more than one external monitor through multiple connections- it may not be supported.

Im using a VGA splitter and the PC only thinks there is one monitor.

Both displays are appearing on each monitor and TV but it only thinks its one monitor so i cant split it

I have a desktop with two monitors... I want to add my big screen tv to my pc... so I'll have two 19" monitors and one 43" monitor... the video card havd a hdmi port but when I cable it up I get nothing on the tv... I don't have a problem when I hook up my laptop... So what can I do to get my tv hooked up to my desk top?

@bighousedaddy Sorry, I am not aware of any way to use that many displays in Windows.

This only works on XP but press ctrl (controll) and press directional keys to change the screen rotation, they disabled this in windows 7 and became a shock when I connected my laptop to my tv and was rotated 90 degrees left and couldn't fix it, then realised projector settings was there in controll panel, GRRRRRRRRRRR windows 7 I was doing a school assembly!!!

I did do that and i got my PC connected to the LCD TV and a VGA cable for the PC and monitor.

Well i make the resolitioun the same and i want to extend. AND MY MONITOR IS SAYING NO VIDEO INPUT, ENTERING SPEEP MODE !!!!

I have a dvi and vga graphics card. I have my dual monitors hooked up to each output spot. The problem is that it wont save the settings to use the dual monitors. It thinks they are the same monitors for some reason. Any help?

@soap8boy I don't use Windows at all anymore, so I can't really help, sorry! I use Mac OS X and mini-display to DVI. However, it sounds like you need a more advanced graphics software/driver program to better control what signals the devices receive.

@bredamannen It's simple, the game is taking priority of all monitors, there is nothing you can do.

Hey Ryan, just wondering if you knew how to create those music videos on Youtube where multiple views are laid out on the viewers screen and each view shows the musician playing a separate track. Alex Goot is a big name who does this. I'm assuming it's some kind of software. I looked but nobody seems to know....

@Junglebong22 Never tried, but all you need is multiple video tracks on at the same time.... which even iMovie can do! FCP or Adobe stuff can to.

@imBriz Use the Windows Flat and X Key to select monitors, or in display prefs. Set it up once, and use it how you want it. No need to continually change the setup when you're working in applications.

@Elcapitan822 I think you have to split one connection, either DVI, HDMI, VGA, or S-Video to two monitors instead of using a DVI for one and a VGA for another, for example.

@RyanKnowsTech My reasoning for setting up dual screen monitors is gaming (i don't mean dual screen gaming, just a game running full screen in one window and other programs in the other), i always find it difficult to change songs on spotify or anwer a skype call without minimizing the whole game by Ctrl Alt Deleting.

If i was to have dual screens would i be able to effortlessly switch between my full screened game and my skype/other programs?

@ThisKid31 I would gladly, but I no longer have any Windows computers! I've fully migrated to the Mac, and discarded of my PCs. If you get Camtasia studio and simply use it, you'll get it pretty quickly.
