  • so i have a question. Is it possible to to take the cheap hulls at walmart (the 20 for 100 bird shot ones) and after firing them reload them with 00 buck and make some home defense type rounds. or can you only do that with high brass and the low brass hulls have to be used for bird shot or reduced recoil rounds only?

  • your camera quality looks like what they used to film oldschool cctv footage with

  • would have been a good video if the sound was better i could barely hear anything other than that still a good video to watch to see how the steps r done helped me out

  • It's Benelli.

  • hi there, i look to reload my shells from clay shooting in the uk and was wondering how much powder etc you use for 28g of shot with fibre waddings?

    thanks

  • verry help full.

how many times can a shell be shot until you shouldnt reload it anymore?

  • i have a little funnel made by lee i use for reloading rifle cartridge.. cost me about $2... should use that for dumping your shot into the container

  • @megadeth22885 That is what I thought, both for the shot to avoid the lead and the powder to avoid contamination. BUT, I am no expert... That is why I reading this before I think about buying a reloader.

  • 1:52 Nothing is idiot proof nowadays

  • is that a trap or or hunting set-up

and also are you planning on getting a primer feeding tray

  • Well done.

  • i have been reading and i dont seem to find anyone asking this..

after you use the shotgun shell, do you have to clean them before you reload them like the brass for a rifle/gun ammo, or do you just reload it as it is?

  • whats the difference in high brass and low brass

  • @smoda945 i was wondering that too

  • Dear HickfromtheSticks: Thanks for the video. Just a concern -- is that a furnace behind you ? Please be careful using and storing powder near sources of heat/flame. Again, thanks for a good intro video on shotshell reloading.

  • SERIOUSLY thanks for the comment there Fire Marshal Bill "LET ME SHOW YA SOMTHIN" lol NO I do not keep my powder by the Friken Furnace But seriously thanks for the Safety Tip....... LOL

  • @HickfromtheSticks ROCK ON FIRE MARSHAL BILL!!!!

  • not, that furnace is BEHIND THE MUSGO OR TOMILLO xD

    spanish things xD

  • sounds like ur pissin in there

  • how many times can you reload a shell. do they ever get worn out?

  • Im sorry this has been answered already in the comments a ways back don't mean to sound harsh but I always check through the comments before I post my own. Thanks for asking though.

  • DO YOU HAVE ANY GOOD RECIPES FOR DOVES USING LEAD AND imr 4756?

  • No sorry we don't hunt doves up here,

  • ha ha ha this is the comedy of shotshell reloading videos..I like it because it is REAl!

  • great video. very informative. i am thinking about getting into reloading because my dad has a 16 gauge shotgun that is hard to find ammo for around here. i found all the stuff needed at midwayusa but i had some questions. can you tell me how long the lead and powder last? for an 11lb box of lead it costs 56 bucks and 4lbs of powder costs 65. i see people using 1 oz of lead and that is about 32 cents a shot just for the lead which seems a little expensive. thanks for any help.

  • Sorry took so long, I never paid that much for either shot or powder, shot should only run you around $15.00 and powder is very much under $20.00 for a big jug and you can reload alot of shells for that. where do you live in Alaska???

  • haha no i dont live in alaska. im from kansas. i just looked everything up on midwayusa(dot)com just to get some prices. they must be really high cause your prices sound alot more reasonable. how much would you guess that it costs you per shot to reload?

  • two 1lb bottles of powder($17) and a 25lbs sack of lead($50) does around 400 for me but i reload 12guage 1oz. loads so for a 16guage im guessing the loads are going to be about 3/4oz. so somewhere between 400-500 rnds

  • nice video!!!

  • im looking to get my own reloading equipment as im going to be clay shooting alot, I was wondering how much ur machine runs for? is it affordable?

  • Hey Andy I can't remember that far back I bought this back in 1994 I wish I could help you but I am sure if you google them you will find the price range of the reloader you may want all you have to buy afterwards is the lead shot, wads, and powder if you can find someplace cheap that sells this stuff your set,

  • ah, i have been looking in my cabelas catalog and they have a few shotgun reloading machines im just not sure which one will be the best for what i need

  • you need a funnle.

  • todo ese trabajo para eso jaja

  • it's realy not that much work and it is very stress relieving. and if you can't tell by looking at all my videos I speak ENGLISH.

  • i have a very simaler press

but mine might be a little bit smaler in hight

  • does it also allow u to load the shell with other stuff besides bird shot? like a slug or somtin

  • u reload slugs and double ought buck shot by hand u just use the machine for powder and to crimp the end together

  • Where can i get this whole set up? Im new to guns

  • gander mt

    cabelas

    or online

get a kit to start with

but ull probably still need to get powder and shot

  • What and where would a good deal for buck shot balls be? I'm looking as cheap as possible for steel balls for a 7-9 ball load. There are a lot of expensive buys and I'm trying to get creative or find a cheaper spot. I live in Southern California, and shipping is horrendous from out of state. Thanks!

  • hi go on ebay anyyou can get a buck shot mold i got 2 from there one is 000 and one is 00 for 20 bucks and make your own loads

  • u want CREATIVE im ur guy. get a scale and weigh a buckshot load then weigh nuts (u kno like bolt ends) find out wat size makes 7-9 of them weigh that amount. i did it and i rips shit up i mean that nut goes into a coyote and starts tumbling... need i say more

  • creative bro i got ya beat! had a bunch of ole lead weights for fishing melted them down and used a socket to make slugs...nasty and accurate then on another occasion took braided fishing line attached a bunch of split shot to it and i have to say it was very effective actually imbeded the line into the tree along with shot hate to see what that would to anything living shotguns are limitless fun!

  • DUDE U ARE MY FUCKING HERO. i thought of it but thought fishing string would just break so i thought maybe wire but thats hard to fit a foot of in a shotgun shell. but andways im going 2 try this literally RIGHT NOW even tho its dark im anxious

  • unless you can find bolt nuts made from lead they will mess up your barrel if they are stainless

  • can i use The used shot shels to reload? or just empty newest?

  • you have the same reloader as i do

  • grab a $1 funnel for your loading of bb's save you the hassles :)

  • Very true and if I mass produced shells I probably would get one but I only make what I need when I need it.

  • no worries, just thought it would make it easier for you

    cheers

  • Excellent video.

  • how many times can you use the same shell?

  • Check down the comments I think I said it somewhere, I think someone said up to 10 times but I know I have reloaded them more than that.

  • This is a great video! Shows everything I need to get started reloading! Thanks!

  • how many loads can u get out of a bottle of shotgun powder which weighs 0.5kg??

  • you know I have never realy counted as it lasts so long you would loose count unless you write it down, sorry I couldn't help you there,

  • As dark as that video was, That was an EXCELLENT Demonstration. Thanks man!

  • Good video man.

  • great video. where can i find one of these and how much am i looking to pay for everything including the powder, shot etc..

  • Great video. I've never reloaded before, but I just got a MEC 600 JR. for free from a buddy. Now I know how to use it.

  • This video made me want to reload shotgun shells! But is it cheaper to reload shells, than to buy them new and loaded?

  • I am not so sure now in these times we live in but I do know it is a great stress reliever and there fun to make. in my opinion you just feel better shooting something you put together.

  • Priceless!

  • Oh wow, this was about as informative as it could get. Thanks a lot.

  • so what's so beneficial about high brass compared to low brass?

  • Nothing now. Not with advancements in manufacturing, materials, and powders.

  • recording at night?

  • I just bought a MEC jr. how do I put the bushing in the charge bar?

  • should just slide in otherwise if you bought it already put together there is a black bolt on the back of the slide take that off and the bar should slide out so you can put the cups in.

  • Thanks.

  • Was the powder bottle a 1 pound bottle?

  • I believe it was a 16 oz,

  • umm u do kno that 16 oz. equals one pound rite?

  • Umm thus the answere Yes It Was a one pound or 16oz, You know what your just blocked. I don't deal with morons

  • i reload rifle and pistol and am very familiar with the process. Just wondering how much can you reload 100 shells for? I looked yesterday at walmart and it cost about 21$ for the valuepack. How much can you make those for? The most cost affective?

  • Do you have to measure the powder? What do you use a charge bar for?

  • I have duck hunted with my reloads you just have to get steal shot, and change your powder cup size, I am not all into the science of this if you use decoys you can get the ducks in close enough so you don't have to reach out there for miles,

  • Would you happen to know any 12ga 3 1/2 inch waterfowl load makeups because my book (The complete reloading manual for the 12 gauge shotshell) has only one and it only hits 1240 fps.

  • I just got a MEC 600 jr. reloader and i was wondering how do you know what wod or powder to use??

  • Just check online or read your manual, as far as the powder goes, it comes in a container that says right on it Shotgun Powder, as far as your wadding there are differant sizes for differant size loads AA trap loads and up.

  • Hey everybody can u do this for money? like reload empty shells peaple give you or just make the entire thing and sell them?

  • yeah but u need a lisence

  • Thanks Hick, that was a very helpful vid!!!

  • Have you ever used the Lee Load All shotshell reloader? I'm thinking about getting one.

  • No I had this one since 94 and it works like brand new so I havn't had the need to try any others yet,

  • dude, make a vid. on lubricating the collect

  • How many times can you reload, and what manuals do you suggest to get for reloading? I am interested in loading for my 410 bore M6 survival rifle. As you probably know, 410's are getting a bit expensive.

  • Hey Pauly, I did answer this question earlier and to this day I still don't know the answer its like how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop, I have reloaded my shells hundreds of times I guess its your judgment when your crimp starts to wear through it would be a good time to throw them away I have only had that happen a few times, hope that helps there as far as manuals go you should get one with your reloader unless you get one at a rummage sale then check online.

  • Very cool, thanks!

  • i don't understand shotguns..can you buy shells already loaded?

  • yes

  • What's the deal with flechetes or nails?

I've heard people bullshitting about stuff like that, and I was wondering what kind of wear it will do on the barrel.

  • Flechettes are designed for reloading but I would never use nails, but you could load dimes and rock salt. though I have never tried it I have seen it in old westerns, Nails I think would expand and cut through the wadding probably scratching your barrel.

  • I like the idea of flechettes, and dimes aren't bad either. Rock salt is used for a poor mans "non-lethal" alternative, isn't it? I was just concerned with the wear on the barrel of flechettes specifically.

  • I realy don't think they would do any damage,

they should stay inside the wadding until they exit the end of the barrel but again I am realy unsure I only hunt and shoot clays so I don't have a use for them but they do sound pretty neat, I have however shot the police rounds that they use to blow in doors I got those at a gun show once they have plastic bbs inside

  • I've also seen the solid brass powder that's used to break hinges/doors. Those have some kick.

  • nice one matey

  • I've got a loader like yours (mines a 600jr), but it has sat in a box for a few years. Wasn't sure how to use it. Just punched in Shotshell loading on You Tube and your video popped up. Alot of questions are now answerd. As far as the powders and shot weights. I think I can handle the rest. Thanks for your time in making this video.

  • how much was the pellets?

    andd thee powder?

  • How many times can you re-load one shell?

  • You know I am not sure I have reloaded for along time and never threw away a hull yet I guess when they start to show signs of wear you probably should but I never had that problem come up yet so if anyone has the answere to this feel free to comment.

  • if it is a new shell you can reload it up to ten times

  • Never saw this comment in my inbox, That may be the manufacturers reloading specs but I know I have reloaded shells more times than that without a problem.

  • Hey what reloader is that I like it, And want to start reloading. will it allow you so skip the shot step and insert slugs? Because I can cast my own slugs.

  • no the crimp and wad on slugs is different so you cant do it with most but there are special ones that do them?

  • I've been reloading brass for 15 years. I still don't know how to reload shotgun shells until now.

  • I wanted to get into this but it looked confusing. Thanks for making this video it really helped.

  • nice!!!! 5 stars

  • thnx! u made me want to start reloading shells =)

  • Fantastic DIY video on Reloading Hickfromthesticks. If anyone wants to talk about getting started I can help them at ballistic products. Ask for Danny K..

  • Thanks for the comment and Thank you for helping if anyone wants more info on reloading Ask for Danny K. at Ballistic Products,

  • I think that is MEC 600 Jr. Mark 5. Connie has it on sale for $114.99.

  • Wow, nice video. I am definetly going to get into this. Can I ask you what model MEC that was?

    Thanks, clever ending

  • Yes sorry took so long to answere it is a

MEC Sizemaster Model SM82 which is actualy the same as the MEC 600 Jr. Mark 5. the only differance that I can tell is the base if you look at the 600 it has alot smaller base on it

  • You must be rich if you shop at Gander Mountain for components.

  • if you call making $7.45 an hour rich then yea I am very rich loaded you could say, first these parts were very inexpensive except for the reloader second they were actualy cheaper beacuse our Gander Mt went out of buissness and had them all on sale.

  • Thanks for the video! I am getting one today. Waterfowl shells can run a man broke!

  • ace! thankz

  • Very Informative! Thank you... I've been thinking of getting into this.

Not sure wich press I should get though. I would like one where the the shells move from one station to the next automatically.

  • you mean like a machine gun shotgun an autoloader that uses shotshells, theres one of those in the video game true crime new york city

  • Reloaders pay for themselfs Very quickly, in my opinion they are an awsome way to relive stress and when you shoot your own shells you feel a bit of confidence and pride,

  • 5*I have never tried that ,Think i might,Noting like killing a deer/bird on your bullet.
