  • Totally digging the guitar player...

  • The Paul Williams band did a good job accompanying The Clovers. Paul is the baritone sax player in the plaid jacket at the beginning of the clip.

  • THIS IS KILLER!!!!!,And Whoever Gave This The Thumbs Down,Thier Cash Ain't Nothin But Trash!!!!

  • nice, so i'm trying to get my head around this doo wop thing, so far i found and liked the clovers, larks, flamingos anf five stars....

    recomendations?

  • @busessuck1 Ink Spots, Tams, Platters, Drifters. Clovers

  • @busessuck1 Five satins, Tams, Drifters, Platters,

  • Buddy Bailey (lead) was the tops. Loved the Clovers and almost everything they did.

  • Hey is that Mr Rork from Fantasy Island?

  • omg!..I've just spent a fortune on EBay buying original vinyl from these guys....

Cool cool song cool look and yes the bass singer Mr. Harold Winley is still with us!

and probably performing somewhere..God Bless Him!

    Tks for this rarity!

  • Thank you King Raymond Green, for persuading the only living member of this Great Singing Group, "Harold Winley", to come out of retirement and continue entertaining us with that great "Bass Voice"!

Singer/Songwriter/Producer, Richard "Pittsburgh Slim" Cobb of Indianapolis, IN.....

  • @countryboyribs is his doo-wop singing brother Paul winley stillwith us as well?

  • the internet radio station is now on my facebook pages, Chicago Blues Kathy Music Society & Blues Kathy....Love it !!

  • Sharp cool dudes..

  • wondeful thnx 4 posting these gems

  • The Clovers were awesome. Everything they did was gold as far as I'm concerned. Too bad history doesn't remember them as well as some other groups. They should get more credit!

  • @Ponderosa67 The problem is that the baby boomers of the 60s looked upon doo-wop, blues, and early rock as some kind of tomming - fortunately, much of the tmusic is being rediscovered.

  • @Ponderosa67 cool cool cool

  • Wonderful, thanks for posting this jewel.

p.s. Huey Lewis's cover is better than Steve Miller's, IMO

  • Steve Miller better???? Give Me a Break!!!!!! This is the Original!!!! In My Opinion Much Better

  • I wish someone would post steve millers version. In my opinon its much better

  • Noble "Thin Man" Watts on tenor saxophone. The mc is Willie Bryant, the "mayor of Harlem," and the mc at the Apollo Theatre.

  • Wow!!!

So happy to have come across this. I wasn't aware that any live footage of The Clovers existed.

    Amazing!

  • I'm one also; grew up with this music.

  • First Rock!

  • wow... It makes me love doo wop more... Beautiful version by the clovers :)

  • Cash aint nothing but trash, we spend it and it ends up as trash in plastic bags on the landfill site. We all get screwed, by the man. we work for day and night.

  • Wow! Footage like this is so valuable. It's very hard to find clips of many of the great '50s groups ! Thank you for posting it !

  • Swanky finger poppin' R&B vocals. Man, these guys are good! Thanks for the post.

  • Da Da Da Da !

  • Wasn't that 'Big' Joe Turner as mcee? If not, must been his twin. And yes Clovers with Coasters= Best.

  • No it was'nt big Joe -he was twice as big as that guy

  • Yes you are right. "Have no fear as big Joe Turner is here" or similar was a slogan I think he invented. But this guy look cool too.

  • The Clovers are one of the best do-wop groups ever existed. Made some goood songs AND good lyrics too. Great stuff. From a guy in Sweden.

  • where did you find this footage

  • Thurl ravenscroft version is better though this is alright

  • thanks!

    like a xmas gift certificate!

    can't buy me off ....!

  • WOW-WEE What days!! Kay

  • Goddamn talent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nobody can swing like that anymore. What happened?

Is it the bloody machines that killed it?

  • Some shit happened in the '60s and all the vintage rocknroll and R&B just went out of the window. Nowadays they have someting also called R&B but it's as the Clovers sing "...nothing but trash"

  • R & B nowadays is half rap, with girls dancing around in gliittery dresses. :(

  • it's not at all it's rythm and blues

  • Man I couldn't agree more!!! I'm glad there's a lot of good folks out there that enjoy this kinda music.

  • Good music just don't vanish! It might look like these days but the curious won't be killed like the cat. ;O)

  • Ooh I've seen 4 pieces of Clovers footage but not this one, thanks!!!

  • Kavin?

  • and to specify which one he is...he is the one allthe way to the left of the screen and hes the rlly deep voice in the song

  • That's freakin' awesome!!

BAss singers are the best, and he was one of the greatest.

  • Harold Winley?

  • He's the only orginal Clover living

  • He had a Clovers group in the early 1970s & I saw them perform a few times. They had a good act and Harold was in great voice. I don't remember the names of the other people in his group. His lead singer looked like he weighed about 300 lbs.

  • hey guess what??? one of the singers in the clovers is my grandpa!!!the truth!!!then after he sang with clovers he sang with ink spots!!!

  • You should be very proud. I am 67 and when I was a teenager we thought the Clovers were the greatest ever. One mint julep,Nip Sip,Devil or Angel etc.

  • Wow. You are related to music royalty. Your grandpa was a linchpin in the creation of R & B and its' greatest label, Atlantic Records. It's a shame that the Clovers are best remembered for Love Potion #9, a decade after they forever revolutionized the concept of the male vocal group.

  • Searchers sang LP#9; was it originally the Clovers then? can't find it on Utube

  • Yes Clovers did the original and much better than the bleak limey's version.

  • Wow! That's great! The Clovers were, and still are, super hip. Love that guitar player, too.

  • that is so cool man...when I was a little toddler my folks used to play "Your Cash Ain't Nothin' But Trash"...I LOVED that jam...It blew me away that it has been uploaded to youtube...

  • where are they now? to this day I still sing love potion no 9, they were wonderful

  • Wow...... I adore the Clovers. They have so many, great songs. I have a cd of theirs. I listen to it, all the time. It never gets old. Just great stuff. I love the way, they sing Blue Moon. Whenever it plays, I sit down and take a minute to listen. I'am spellbound for a few minutes.

  • Does anybody have Devil or Angel?

  • Hey Barris get the word out. This way we can still keep it going. Go see friendentertainment dot com for smoking oldies

  • I have a lot of their records on 78rpm. that's the best way to hear them.

  • I'd kill for a copy of their album on Atlantic. This is doowop at it's best!!!!!!!

  • Greetings!

Does anyone realize how hip this song is?

Does anyone realize how sharp these guys were/are? Well I do! The Clovers rock & swing with the best!

Stever Miller also has a smokin' version!

    Joey Fulco

    aka: The Ranger

  • Yeah! the clovers rock!. hell i'm 16 and now one else likes them that i know of. but i do!

  • Barris I was 16 when this song was a hit. The Clovers were the kings back in the 50s but few people remember them. This is where rock began. Glad you found the original rythmn and blues. listen to all there songs like devil or angel, one mint juslip etc. you can get the cds on amazon.

  • will do love doopwop songs

  • I was 16 in 1973 when I first heard them. Never gets old.
