Well the patent will expire on those nmih batteries and Chevron can't stop that then. The EV95 type battery will go back into production. Think the one's now running past 2000,000 miles and can run the vehicle at 80mph for up to 120 miles per charge. Think of these batteries in a 120v motorcycle - scotty warp speed. A motorcycle with at least a 100 mile range at way over high way speed.
What killed the EV is GM, Chevron, CARB, Big Oil and ploitics..
I actually witnessed something. pulling out of a parking lot, I saw a Prius with a sticker that said "clean special fuel"
We were behind it until we had to pull over for gas. then when we left and went down the road, the Prius had been totalled, wrecked, and flipped over, hit by some viper or something.
Coincidence? Or big oil hard at work? They mean to stop the electric and gas-less cars. by any means necessary
"Big Oil" is only that because they are pretty much held at "gunpoint" by the world governments to supply it. They would actually lose money if it wan't for government subsidies giving them a 10cents a gallon profit
Exxon owns 90% of the world Urianium mines on the other hand, Chevron owns pretty much all the commercial Wind,Water, adn Geo-thermal technology, and BP owns all the commercial Solar technology, so..."Big Oil conspiracy" is bullshit as they would make 10x-100x more profit without oil
The first ZAP-X models for crash testing should be delivered by January. After testing (which could take months) to make sure it is NHTSA compliant, it won't be long before they start rolling off the line.
The ZAP cars available now might be a little clowninsh but they have been one of the few available for the past few years. Something is better than nothing.
I think they use lead in the Xebras to keep the cost as low as possible. And I think they skipped on NiMH because it's a little expensive and not as good as lithium. Their new vehicles will be lithium powerd. They recently hooked up with a Chinese lithium battery supplier and the prices are coming down now.
Because they can't GET nimh batteries. Lithiums are expensive as hell UNLESS you get them mass produced which in the case of these yipyap cars of which they will sell 23 and they'll get thrown out in 4 years when expensive cheaply made component X dies, they won't get mass produced keeping the cost ridiculously high. I hate lead acid but can't do anything about it.
Zap Cars suck. Zap has been around since 92, I think. All they make are clown cars. They say they will make a Super Electric car or something, but they keep saying that. I wonder what is taking them so long.
I remember seeing a Van powered by electricity back in the 80's. Cost $140,000 dollars, took 8 hours to Charge, and only traveled 20 miles on that 8 hour Charge. DOn't think that company made 1 sale...lol
Hahaha, of course. GM claimed that was the downfall of the EV1 (load of crap, but)-the car does less, consumer wants to pay less which they can't do. Granted that they did nothing to help this, bolted the cars together in place making 3-4 a day until they killed it.
Battery technology hasn't changed much since Tesla first patented the basic designs with the Electric companies and Battery Industry intentionally ignoring his patents on "cosmic cells" and using Earth's own Electromagnetic field as a power Source
Not for lack of trying, but for lack of understanding how such technology works.
Look at today's tech. Radio,Direct TV,Cell Phones,The internet,Television, and even Youtube are all percintile rip offs of the Tesla towers that did all that plus Power

But they could have done so much better.

Why don't they use NiMH batteries? Why are they using Lead Acid? Nilar manufactures NiMH that works in EVs. Why does ZAP continue to use Lead Acid?
The new Model uses Lithium, but what took so long?

Costs v.s. public demand.
