As PS1 owners, we were very lucky to be treated to an exclusive third soundtrack to this game. I used to go into the options menu just so I could listen to the tracks. This is probably my favourite one from the KSS (and Hwang is badass as well :P).
Great game great soundtrack! I always felt this was by far the best version of all the Soul Blade/Calibur games. Button mashers paid dearly in the original Soul Blade!
This gave the game a cinematic edge, this theme was amazing, Id crank up to 5 rounds and have an amazing duel with Mitsurugi and Hwang. It felt like an epic movie scene!
Hwang was the best character in the game, he was Mitsurugi's clone for the most part but had more range options and tricky moves to boot...I was pissed when they took him out of the game...That new imitation of him is lame, I refuse to even added his name to my memory
I hated playing as hwang but omg fighting him was awful...the computer knew how to make him a very aggravating opponent! slammed my controller many times lol
Oh, my HEART! Even after playing Soul Calibur 4, I long so much for the fantastic soundtrack that seemed to fall by the wayside after the second game. But Soul Edge, I feel, has the best soundtrack (or THREE soundtracks, depending on how you look at it!) of all the games!
soulcalibur what happened??Soulblade still has it goin on after all these year!! I miss everything about this game. Espcially the backgrounds. Little things like the stars and the shooting stars in the background. That's what this reminds me off. Now in the new age you hear armour breaking sword clashing and good music but souledge and soulcalibur1 have the best of everything
Stages also had day and night cycles which was a detail that made the action and melodies that much more memorable. Now Namco has replaced vision with the want to compete with other games in a cut throat market. The same thing happened to the tekken series.
Those are cold hard facts. You are correct. But I still fill they can go back a little to their older style. They'll make more new fans espcially if they use this song and Moonlight Shadow...
Even the first Soul Calibur had a more fitting musical score than 2,3, and 4. Subsequent compositions lost their unique surreality. In addition, the characters and environments where more realized and based as little as possible on fantasy. Which I thought gave historical significance to the music aswell. I would have been happy if they included soul edges compositions as DLC for the SC IV.
You're absolutely right. Quality and theme have been sacrificed for flashiness, volume and speed. Soul Edge and Soul Calibur had the best soundtrack, and actually had personality. SC2 and up had lots of lens flare effects and acid-trip pallets of coloring on top of 10,000 horns blaring as their soundtrack. It's as if the composers couldn't get ENOUGH noise. It sounded like they gathered 600 people and urged them to play different compositions at once.
awesome tune and awesome stage. Puts you in a trance. after soul calibur the subsequent iterations had lost touch of the essence of original game. the composer tried to create to much of an epic sound and completely neglected substance.
Hwang was always the hardest character for me to fight cause he was always so hard but I never mind him beating me cause I always got this song <3.....pure love
Yea i remember playing this in the training mode and it keep me going Day and night in the game an i unlocked his special. it was critical and when i used it it took nearly all the other guys heath away.
my second favorite in the game :D

i absolutely agree, namco bummed out by not bringing Hwang back properly

What would've really been a great thing is if they would have brought Hwang back in SCIV. Not as a custom character but in the main roster.
WildEnigma06 2 years ago 2
they took him and li long out of the main roster for maxi and yun seoung :(
