A lot of people don't understand that a remake of this game simply wouldn't be able to keep up with today's standards. The gameplay mechanics would be really basic and like @singlebkdrft said, MGS1 is basically as close as we'll get to a remake of this game. If newer gameplay mechanics were implemented in this we'd get something similar to the Twin Snakes (the game would be 100 times easier). Honestly there's really no need for a remake anyway, this game's spectacular for it's time ..
Changing level design in a remake is normally enough to make me very upset, but if a remake of this game removed some of the inane backtracking I would likely welcome it.
Remake this game in the same style that is MGS1 and nothing else. Maybe use small elements of the other games, but keep it the same game, but with a new coat of paint on it.
I can say that I'm scared of a remake. I really think this game is awesome (perhaps while giving it its time and place, though I certainly didn't play it in that time and place). I really don't think a remake will capture the best of this game, at least not if Kojima was to do it now. I think he has been too involved with Metal Gear to do it now. Unfortunate for us, but a reality for creative people.
@ironsaviorguy99 Actually, in a way MG1 and 2 were remade. MG2 and MGS1 have very similar storylines. MGS2 is probably what MG1 would've been like (Big Shell similar to Outer Heaven, Raiden similar to inexperianced Snake, and Solidus as Big Boss with less hi-tech shit)
@Keoisgreat Well mgs1 and MG2 I can honestly say... dont have even remotely the same feeling. I dont know about you but i grew up playing MG1 and MG2 even though i couldnt understand the japanese (my dad went to japan in the navy and brought me back an msx2) I still eventually got transcripts and then even patched the game in 06, metal gear solid one doesnt feel the same because its more focused on snake finding his own brother and the meaning of the mission rather then finding himself.
@Keoisgreat MGS2 doesnt really count as a remake because the whole plot of big shell was a VR training op used to train soldiers into snake. I think real remakes are on their way, without using different storylines or characters. Id like to see them do it on the 3DS or PSP too, and some extra missions wouldnt hurt : )
Fantastic tunes created with such limited hardware but also yields amazing sounds, rhythm and textures in the songs especially when you're talented enough to wield the hardware and passionately produce a masterpiece!!
Actually MGS1 is *almost* a remake of this game. Many of the plot elements are the same: snake has a radar, he sneaks into a tank hanger, there's a high tech ninja that's a character from a previous game, there's a female lead that snake works with and is wounded/killed (and snake has to enter the women's room to find her), snake fights grey fox. If you pay attention tho, in MG2:SS Big boss never says he's snake's father (ret-con alert). That said, I want a remake too.
@singebkdrft You're right that Big Boss never admits to being Snake's father, but maybe it's the hidden reason that Snake suddenly disappears in MG2 and makes himself a new home in Alaska
@singebkdrft Big Boss is his father, 2 seeds one dominant gene (solid) one recessive gene (liquid) and whats left of the genes is solidus (dominant and recessive genes) thats why solidus was the spitting image of big boss, Snake had the dominant genes of big boss, liquid had the recessive genes of his mother Eva (hence the blonde hair)
@MrUgotknockedthefkou mhh sry bad this is isnt right; snake got the recessive genes, and liquid the dominant, but to liquid the philosphers says he only got the recessive, maybe u got the end with ocelot were he says: "right,.. the recessice had actuall won" this means to solid snake, sry for bad english.german
@singebkdrft actually to be able to make solid and liquid they had to first create solidus so they could get recessive and dominant genes, if u look up what are the characteristics of a dominant gene they will show that they are dark hair etc, ressecive (blonde hair blue eyes) snake had his mom's eyes while everything else was from big boss, liquid looked more like Eva and Solidus was the spitting image of Big Boss thats why in MGS4 (spoiler alert) with solidus DNA they could get the GOP
actually there is a remake of this one and number 1 :p it can be found on disc 2 of metal gear solid 3: subsistance. u can get it on amazon for like 30 bones
@MagnumBullets47 its included in the hd collection (if you go in MGS3 its at the main menu) but its the same look and music and everything as the original
Second, Metal Gear wasn't on the 360, so if anything, you'll one day have the first two games on the Playstation Store and you can buy the MGS boxset with MGS1-3 and then get MGS4.
The reason why the music is really good in this game is because this game requires the KONAMI S.C.C. Cartridge for the MSX. What this cartridge does it that has another sound chip inside the cartridge, allowing the music to exceed past 5 channels.
Dude, you rock for putting up the download link man! I picked up the ost for the first game too! Thanks a lot! By the way, according to wikipedia, Tsuyoshi Sekito had a hand in this soundtrack. Know if that's true?
Act I, in Millenium Park, "Down the road from where the two PMCs are and near a third is an alley with a dumpster. Slip into the building here and the song is immediately to the right." Zanzibarland Breeze: "This song will be found in the "Urban Ruins" portion of Act 1. Right before you jump down the hole to initiate the cinematic involving the man going to the bathroom right under the Drum. To find it, turn left right before the jump I just mentioned and jump on to the platform to collect it."

Starwind18020 2 years ago
i know mgs4 will never be for 360 or Wii.
mgs2 substinence also came out for xbox.
Mgs twin snakes replaced the playstation mgs1
Mgs twin snakes was for gamecube, the only difference between the two is twin snakes has better graphics and crappier music (i like ps1 better)
so both these games were copied from the playstaion.
I just thought it would be nice if they would have continued the mgs series on either system.
