  • sombody take me there!!!!!

  • Thank you for the vidoe, it brought back a lot of memories.

I Lived and studied there for 2 years but the city is still in me after 11 years away from it.

  • For anyone that is interested, I have an interactive 3d model of Perth that's online. you can view the video by searching for "Perth Racer" on youtube.

  • i visiting perth soon .. im soo looking forward to it ..carnt wait to get out of the uk :) :)

  • BCfromBC

I was on holiday in Perth for the UK and trust me, I felt very safe in Perth

  • @impartial67

Hey you are very wrong , perth is not a safe place, is a sick place with abo and robberies

  • cool

  • This was one of our port visits after the Persian Gulf war in '91. It was April of '91 when we came. Had a blast and partied hard there. Nice people there, too. I was on the battleship Missouri at the time.

  • @sixx3times Ever feel like you've been taken for a ride?

  • I was there for 3 weeks. Didnt see one fight. Thought the place was beautiful.

BCfromBC must be a wimp who gets picked on.

  • Perth's a dump. The city center is dead after 6 p.m. and if you like to get beaten up and subject to random acts of violence, then Perth is the place for you. I know, I was born and raised there but got the hell out. Stay away!

  • What a strange attitude. Are you sure it's the same Perth? Western Australia, Perth?

cos' everyone else's opinion of Perth seems to be very much different.

  • What a load of shit. People will get beaten up in any city in the world. So a few fights make it to the news, it doesn't mean the city is this big derelict fight club. I, like most people, love Perth and have never had a problem with it.

  • @BCfromBC yeah, i was born and raised in perth too, ive never seen one fight in the city and i go there alot, sure, theres a few fights, but they're usually in the dodgy suburbs around it.

  • @BCfromBC

The Best comment I have ever seen

  • @BCfromBC u fuckin pussy. scared of getting lynched in your own city. If you say that shit about it you probably deserved to be bashed.

  • perth is awesome

  • Thank you for this video.. I visited Perth for six weeks and fell in love with it, and its people. I can't wait to go back just wish it wasn't so hard to get there from Canada

  • Glad you like it - I felt the exact same way after I visited it ;o)

  • what a dump

  • hahahahahaha as if.

I must admit these aren't the best photos of perth...it looks nothing like it to me.

but it certainly isnt a dump.....

and where is it you live??

  • Lived in perth 1975-1980 .Best years of my life . Thank you perth . Lived in Belmont , my best mate Thomas Umfahrer , regards from Malta , Joseph Schembri

  • hmm well i suppose it's dull to certain people then. They are really cleaning northbridge up so for those people interested in perth - it's not all drunken locals.

  • Living in Australia/NZ is overrated - Perth is so isolated and dull!

But these are fantastic photos anyway, a great tour. =)

  • just for your information, Aus and NZ are in no way related. Your country probably hypes it up in the media, etc.

I live in perth and i can tell you that it is very clean. It isn't boring unless you are a boring person yourself and don't do much. It can be entertaining, if you look in the right places.

I honestly never get bored of clubbing in northbridge around midnight on a saturday. It's pretty good. You probably went to the worst places to be honest

  • Just for your information, I live in New Zealand and am fully aware that they're not in any way related, though they are markedly similar.

As for the "lifestyle" here, it's not my cup of tea at all. Clubbing isn't what I'd call entertainment and thus hanging around Northbridge and brawling with drunken locals doesn't really garner much interest for me.

People are different and want different things. I'd rather be in a gritty, interesting city than a sanitised and dull one.

  • im going to perth and love to brawl, is the brawling there good sport?

  • Enjoyed walking tour of Perth, with great background sounds, where I lived in the early 1970s for a couple of years.

A book of mine was published there called Vanishing Ink that captured the historic architecture of Perth in pen and ink sketches.

Your video brought me back 35 years to when I was a young American architect who loved my time in Western Australia, after living in London, before returning to USA in 1976.

    Tim

    This video brought me way

  • Thank you very much Tim. The background sound is also still great memory for that short trip of 2 weeks to Western Australia.

Guess it changed also a lot compared with the early 70s. What I like are also the people there ... not as stressful and cold as here in Germany. And the great weather (well, it was in spring, hehe, guess in summer I would have melt to water, haha)

  • Yes the people there were so friendly! I've still kept in touch with some after over 30 years away. We've traveled to Germany often and always found the people there friendly too, especially in Munich and Bavaria, more relaxed than Berlin. We love the architecture of Germany, and the landscape, wow!

  • Yeah, especially some tourist areas in Bavaria are nice. But going around and just walk into a supermarket you can see the difference. The faces of workers who doesn't enjoy to earn money there. And you even have to pay to get bags and pack it all yourself - if not fast enough you can see a mad face of the lady there, haha ;o) When I was in AUS I was living these 2 weeks in Mosman Park. Close to Freo.

  • Don't worry, you'll find plenty of overly rude people in Australia and New Zealand too. Just put them behind the wheel of a car and you begin to see it.

Rude people are everywhere worldwide, it's just the way in which rudeness manifests itself that differs.

  • i agree. there are wankers on the road here in perth. But you're looking too much into the negative side of it. There are quite a few friendly people here too

  • @dannyboyinxs

There are not many positive side involved, i have been there for 10 years and i did see anything good.

Made me a very lazy person with no goals and direction, no challenge and no future.

Very High tax rate. There are so many drunks and aboriginals, people are races ( you don't see it on their faces) Government is paying aboriginals for doing nothing but convicting crimes, think about it ?

  • hey please helpme is it a beautiful place?

  • @airon105

It is a beautiful place if you want to waste your life over there, living there feel like going on slow motion

Everything is slow and useless, you wanna die in summer time.

You go to the same place everything weekend and you would not prefer to have holiday or day off coz , there is nothing you can do, Sick Place

  • anyone has experience being a holiday work maker? finding jobs?

    cheers man~

  • i live here and i cant even find a job! haha

  • @samcarlisle

Perth is place which unemployment rate is almost zero because there so fucking many vacant positions from all fields but nobody wants to work , if you can't find a job in this sick place means you are in trouble and don't think about going to other country for work ! I never heard not being able to find jobs in this sick place hahahahaahhahhahhah

  • Hi mate thanks for posting this video!! I'm really looking forward to live in australia, right now i´m 22, studying mechanical engineer in south america, Venezuela, and i was making some research about Preth, Sydney and Melbourne to have an idea of what would it be like to live there.. It´s really my dream, love your country, love your lifestyle and I really hope to live there one day.. I´ll be very pleased if you could give me some webpages or info about those places.. thanks again cheers..

  • With 22 you are still young enough to go there as a backpacker. With a backpacker visa you can stay there for a while and work there for up to 3 months per company. Staying for one year as far as I know. For me it is already too late as I am over 30. I am not living in Australia but I also love the places and the way of life there. The people are way friendlier and happier than here in Germany.

  • Interesting to see pictures of perth, I live in Sydney and always thought there was pretty much nothing there. cool vid.

  • Thank you John! I enjoyed it pretty much there. I also uploaded some pictures about Fremantle (like a cat jump away from Perth). It was the first time I was seeing Australia and I was very fascinated about it.

  • It seems you are just like other sydneysiders, thinking their city is the centre of Australia.

  • It pretty much is though....

  • Heard of Canberra mate?

  • Of course I did but I was only for 2 weeks in Australia. Canberra is at the other side of the big island ;o)

  • Yeah Canberra. The Capitol. Not the centre peice.

  • Even

    Good Night

You are in that place, it seems that loves to travel?

I am considering taking a féria in Ireland or another country, you know .... may give some hint?

His work with video is very good, with his work can keep contatoe show to many people, of our beautiful world.

    Much Abraço

    Roberto

  • I like travelling ... but I only can do it if my wallet allows me ;o)

  • BattlefieldDoktor

Thank you for this video, because it makes me remember when I was in Março/08 in Perth, especially those places that you filmed, Perth is really all that and something more ....

Now I am in Sao Paulo - Brazil, but always access to YouTube, to remember.

Big hug, and if you do not mind, I am always accessing your videos!

  • Thank you very much Roberto. Of course I don't mind if you are always accessing my videos. I very apreciate this :o)

Perth is really a nice city ... it never seemed overcrowded to me and the people are nice. Nice weather (ok, this I guess you also have in Sao Paulo, hehe).

  • The birds at 4:54-5:07 are galahs. Very loud birds,

  • Thanks a lot for the information. So I can be happy it wasn't loud by that time ;o)

  • Ooohh, those are some nice pics. Nice to catch a glimpse of where I may spend a year, God willing. I'm hoping to study abroad at ECU in (my) Fall 2009, and I'm trying to not only familiarize myself with Australia but also keep the flame of my ambition alive. The more I want to go, the more it scares me that I may not make it. I'm hoping it's only a matter of time before I do.

  • After my vacation there I was thinking about to break up my life here in Germany and go over there and study and stay ... but I am still in Germany ;o)

  • perth is a beautiful place

  • Tony, I totally agree with you. I hope one day I will have again enough money to fly over there for some vacation again. Since I am living far away from the ocean it is really something great to me there. Plus people and places ... awesome. I loved my 2 weeks there.

  • thanx for sharing..

  • Thanks a lot for your comment ;o)

  • I used to live in Perth before I moved back to England. Perth looks so differnt now then how I remember it in 1979. Thanks for posting it.

  • Thanks a lot for your comment Puzzoozoo. I heard it also have changed a little bit since I took the fotos/videos in March/April 2004.

  • NP. BTW IF you ever go back, I used to live at No 12 Thorpe Street in Morley. i.e. Thorpe Street is located right behind the big car parts warehouse on Walter Road.

  • Anyone know how much the average rent is on an apartment there?

  • Shitloads at the moment...

  • i rent an oldish 3bed 1bath in a poor suburb 10mins from the city.. i pay about 200/wk but ud be very lucky to come and rent a similar place for less than 260 or 270

  • Wow, its a bit out of my price range then, Im trying to do a study abroad at Murdoch next year...

  • KYdrifter, you'd be far better off sharing a place with other students. Much cheaper that way.

  • hello i am also looking to go to perth . did you find out about rent ?? or house share ? do you go to work there ? pls can you mail me , thank you.

  • hi`i'm mony from cambodia-chinese living in State after from France.

Thanks very much 4uploading of Perth city, the city`s really magnific i really to travel there to c all leaflef b4 moving or staying there. but i dunt have family n` no cousins there i really moving new lifestyle coz my cousins mizz me so hard. i want them to move vs me but they can't say they just wanted to travel vs me dunt know watt time n` year of date GO VS ?.

  • I was there in autumn (March/April) ... was pretty nice about the temperatures between 25-35 °C. I wouldn't go there in the summer (around December-January) because it is very hot then - but well, since you are from Cambodia I guess you maybe also will be more used about the heat than we Europeans when it is cold winter here at that time ;o)

  • Where do the male prostitutes hang around at?

  • haven't seen any prostitutes at all ;o)

  • the bird at 4:54-5:07 is a White

    Headded Commorant...

  • Thank you for the information!

  • Do you know kind of bird that was in the water? It's so cute.

  • Ashley, I have no idea about the bird at 4:54-5:07, maybe Terry can tell you when she checks out my reply here ;o) It's the first time I saw it. I also heard some years ago there also were black swans. Maybe they're back again around there.

  • what is the best place to live betwen in sidney perth or Melbourne? please anwer very fast im colombian and i dont know what is the best place to liv e and study

  • Perth is smaller than Sydney and Melbourne, more family orientated maybe, quite expensive tho. You should probably go to Melbourne, Sydney is very big and Melbourne has better UNIs... i think :P

  • im not 100 percent sure but i think its from the bird called a crane i could be wrong

  • Thanks a lot Terry :o) ... lol, I am a bit late in replying here, right? ;o)

  • HI DOK , the building at 1.49 which then was the taxation department is now the duxton hotel . 1.53 perth concert hall i was there a month ago watching my daughter recieve an award , i first danced on stage there when i was 5.HAHAHAHAH at 8.05 thats the church where i got married ( the marriage didnt work LOL THANKGOD )

  • Hey Terry! Wow, so the taxation department is a hotel now ... the world is always in a move! It's great to got all these buildings in front of my camera and you're knowing these places with memories ;o) Merry Christmas!

  • love this my son just gone there i want to see what he can see gives me pretty good idea im soooo jealous!! so happy for him tho. apparently youth hostel was filthy but hes moved on.

  • Hehehe, I'm jealous, too! And I heard a few things even changed there ... the world is always in a move. It's a great city! Merry Christmas!

  • Great vid. I live in the UK but have close friends in Sorrento. Perth City is wicked. Cant wait to go back in 2009.

  • Thank you! The city is really great! I hope I can visit it very soon again :o)

  • Oh thats where you are, I am plannig on another visit there close to this time next year, around the Kassel region. We have some good beer over here, but it's nothing compared to the variety you have there in Deutschland.

  • Ah cool, Kassel ... haven't been there, it's around 300-400 km away from me. Yeah, the beer here ... you can get a lot of different varieties here.

  • 300-400 geezm that could put you on the edge of most of Deutschland, but i'll take a stab at Bayern. 300-400 that reminds me of how many different beers there were in the North (Bremen to Hamburg)... with another 300-400 in München! ahh... Hoffbrau House... weiss beer is great, we have Red Back here in Perth.

  • I saw the Red Back once in a supermarket ... but I haven't tried it.

Weiss Bier, hehehe, I like Pils or Export more but the original Weiss Bier from Bavaria in Munich is great ;o)

  • Well, we are just about to hit spring and this is possibly the best time to see Perth. The variety of wild flowers that you would see would blow you away if your into the botanical. Plus it's not yet hot, the average day will soon be 23-28C (73-84F). (Summer will average around 33-38 (91-100F), with regular days over 40 (104)).

  • sounds awesome especially since it is getting colder here (autumn coming soon and on Thursday I even needed to scratch ice from the window of my car, grrr - pretty early this year in Germany)

  • Interesting, thanks BD. You had alot of higher angled shots, which were interesting. I must admit I don't tend to look up at our skyline that often, so your shots had some things I hadn't noticed before. Emmaupsala is right, you need to see it in person, but I think you did a pretty good job of the CBD, but you definately missed alot in King's Park (where the war memorial is).

  • yeah, my friend also told me to be insane to miss King's Park and I wasn't even too far away from it. Anyways, I had a great time there with my friends and I'm missing the city.

  • it's def a lot better to go walk around Perth for yourself. I wish I'd taken more photos when I lived there.

  • I wished I would have seen much more when I was there ... I missed the King's Park which is a shame :o(

  • i been to perth befor its out of this world i cant wait to go next yr

  • I wanted to go to Perth again in last year but I couldn't go. Hope to can go to there also soon again. It's a great place.

  • It's a city I'm dying to go to. Perth, from what I read and heard is one of the well-planned cities in Oz. Much more well planned than Sydney. thanks fore the video, mate. but nothing beats than going there to witness it for myself like you did.

  • Oh yes, seeing it all with your own eyes is really the best! You should go to there, I love it ... I would love to live there - or somewhere in the country, hehe

  • haha coming from perth i have to say this video hasn't done the city much justice..its alot more beautiful in person

  • Thanks for the comment. I only had a short time to be there ... I totally missed the King's Garden, hope to can be in Perth once again! My favourit city!

  • Wonderful places. It nearly makes me wanna go there!

  • You can imagine that I even thought about to try to go aboard and start life there ;o) But it's very hard to get that visa.

Oops, I just noticed that I accidently forgot to delete that scene of Alf Curlewis Gardens ... Still have a bit more footage from that trip to AUS ;o)
