  • Dumb cunt alert x 2

  • I gotta agree with Ben Stein on this one. He is being much more open minded than both O'Reilly and Maher. O'Reilly just wants to argue against the left and Maher just wants to argue with the right. At least Stein is trying to find some common ground by looking at the facts.

  • HEY BEN STEIN, GO FUCK YOURSELF YOU MISINFORMED BASTARD

  • Bad boys, bad boy, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when I come for you?

  • Because of people like this, we are so delayed on our development as a specie.

  • @LowresTV

And because of morons like you evolution will go on? Don't make me laugh!

  • @Uushilumbu79 No, I am not saying that. But it seems you are too stupid to understand. Jerk.

  • @LowresTV

"Jerk". Now that's the hell of an argument.

  • I stopped listening when he said darwins theory of evolution said we evolved from monkeys.

  • It's funny that O'Riley mocks the secular authorities. The same secular authorities that allowed catholics the freedom to prosper in a very protestant country.

  • Two pinheads don't make a "right"

  • @georgebx

And one pinhead doesn't make a right, either.

  • it takes time. the pen that bill is holding started with carving/paintng on the walls. than a feather with ink on the side while writing on expensive paper. now, a modern pen/paper are sold in packs and for cheap. even though science can't expalin how it all began (big bang), when our technology get's better that question will be answered

  • We are not built to understand the true dynamics of the universe....it's like dogs trying to understanding algebra. Religion evolved out of ignorance and fear.

  • @VladVonThad LOL

  • Funny ! Ben Stein...religion is the institution that wants to shut down objective emperical observation. Becuase a theory isn't perfect...doesn't mean an invisible man in the sky is responsible. Religion is the suspension of all critical thought becuase all the answers are laid out for us in the bible...stop thinking and read the bible. Fear drives hipocracy in the simple religious mind.

  • Religious people claim they know WHO and WHAT created the universe, not just any higher power. Knowing who and what created the universe is delusional nonsense ! Bill you pinhead !

  • he's the guy in the eye drops commercial!!!

  • Please, American Christians don't know the meaning of the world "persecuted."

  • Such a weak theory? It a very strong theory, YES there are holes, but the evidence supporting Evolution is astounding. Also, Evolution never mentions anything about a god or gods, it is about diversity of life and where life on EARTH began, not life in the Universe.

  • Ben Stein is either very stupid or wilfully bullshitting. Probably both actually.

Evolution has got nothing to do with how life was created. It's about the diversity of life. As for the 'lightning striking a mud puddle' thing - who the fuck said that? Spaz.

  • why do i always come to this bullshit speech by bill stein

  • So intelligent design accounts for both of these people?

    Yep, that says a lot.

  • Intelligent design... FUCKIN THING SUCKS!!

  • LIFE IS AN ACCIDENT. scientifically speaking, obviously

  • @uyesu In science, there are no accidents. :)

  • @BerretSO4 <the droll is strong in this one.

  • @uyesu

    Only you are an accident.

  • @Uushilumbu79 you very clearly did not understand my post, but that's OK. the problem starts when you extrapolate incorrectly, then feel that you've enough between your ears to pass sound judgment and act. re-view the vid and then examine my response using the information presented in the vid. if you still think my response was borne of fact or truth or belief, then you've some misfiring "higher level" abilities. also, do please read other responses from the same time period. thx?

  • @uyesu

I don't doubt that your life is an accident. Factually speaking the best part of you ran down your father's thigh.

  • @nowaytogofranco adhd? the ones that respond are always the ones that refuse to pay attention. there's no other reason to bother.

  • Why can't we just move the scientific argument from evolution (a rather undeniable fact regarding the progression of life forms) to ---- First defining just what a living thing is, and how it went from "not life" to "life"?

Any scientist will tell you, if something not alive, somehow went "poof now I have DNA" and all life as we know it has DNA - then it had help. The theories strictly about how life began are still full of questions. I want kids to lean how to spot BS, THATS what is missing.

  • It is hard to believe that O'Reilley & Stein would actually go on National TV and make such uneducated statements regarding science. It's okay to not be an expert on science but if you go on TV and speak on the subject, you had better at least know what you are talking about. Embarrassing !!!

  • Its possible Bill grew up too close to a nuclear reactor and Ben was a neighbor lol

  • Idiot #1 complains about idoit #2 about freedom of speech & assert their unprovable BS as something we should teach our children as being true. It's not a freedom of speech problem its a freedom from bad logic, reasoning, and asserting information rather than proving it. Sorry Bill Sorry Ben just because you put your fingers in our ears whenever someone talks outside of your "beliefs" doesn't mean they are attacking you. Go on believe in unprovable theories just don't force it on our children.

  • what the hell was this? this is hardly what I would call news, it's just two guys confirming what they already think is true and badmouthing everybody else

  • Wait a second...in Expelled, Ben Stein argued that intelligent design was a scientific not a religious issue, and yet in this interview he argues that a belief in god is now relevant (even though Einstein was an atheist).

  • Evolution doesn't seek to explain abiogenesis (how life began), it only seeks to explain how life evolved once it was already present. How life actually began is an entirely different issue concerning physics and chemistry and has no bearing on the credibility of evolution.

  • @jessiessica Very well put. Typical of theists to try and muddy up the argument as they are unable to put forth a logical educated opinion on the subject

  • @jessiessica TY - well put

  • @jessiessica You're right in the beginning of the sense of the theory, but the theory that evolution began life HAS been adopted, it just never was so by Darwin himself. The scientific community does today imply that evolution began life, which was not a part of the original theory.

  • @jessiessica

But without a beginning you cannot have an evolution. Got that, stupid?

  • @Uushilumbu79 and I suppose you plan on proposing a god of the gaps argument to explain how life began?

  • @jessiessica

Yeah, maybe that's my plan. Got a problem with that?

  • @Uushilumbu79 at least you're honest.

  • @Uushilumbu79 Yes, but the point Stein misses (or more likely ignores) is that even though there had to be a beginning of life, evolution isn't the field of study that relates to it. That's what abiogenesis is for.

  • Stein looks and talks like Kissinger.

  • Good grief. Science cannot acknowledge the super-natural because it cannot be tested or observed in a controlled environment. That goes against the very foundations of the scientific method. Saying that god or an intelligence did it doesn't answer any questions and there can be nothing gained from that. That isn't learning, or seeking truth.

  • Buhler? Buhler?

  • Hurts my brain hearing Ben Stein talk.

  • People all over the world love people like Stein and O'Reily because they reaffirm their stereotypical views of Americans.

  • Ben Stein is right on one point; the First Amendment gives us the freedom to say what we want (slander not included), and this freedom includes the right to vocalize whatever idiotic drivel that might pop into his little pea brain.

Before I saw him ranting about religion on YouTube, I thought he was a pretty good commentator on economics on "CBS Sunday Morning," but now I question his basic intelligence. It makes me doubt the accuracy of anything that comes out of his mouth.

  • two guys arguing about magic... "why can we talk about miracles in the biology class?" you are the pinheads

  • Sorry, but not good enough. The Bible is not a science book, nor is it "Physics for Dummys." Its purpose is not to explain the laws of science to arrogant, Christian bashing atheist. The Bible was written in a different time for far less sophisticated people than yourself apparently. Jesus spoke in parables for a reason. Perhaps some of the Bible is written in the same manner. I really don't know, and I'm not going to pretend to. However, its purpose is clear, and its message has shown to true.

  • You have found ironclad evidence that disproves the existence of God? That's interesting, not to mention bold. I wasn't aware this existed; please share. Friend, my comment was not to offend but rather to express my thoughts on the matter. If you choose to go by way of modern over what you consider ancient, then by all means do so. I too have bounced back and forth from faith, so I understand you. However, I am not ignorant simply because I have Christian beliefs; I am fully aware of the facts.

  • @vcotham There's no proof that God doesn't exist, but there is direct proof that the Biblical God is straight up bullshit. The proof is called the Bible. If you don't believe me try reading it all the way through. It's pure fiction. There's no sign or evidence of anyone other than men contributing to this work of fantasy. There is no explanation for the laws of physics (God's true language) in the Bible, no explanation for ANY naturally occurring scientific process, yet some call it truth. Sad.

  • Ben Stein is a relic whose time has passed. "Expelled" was a lie and it has been proved to be so.

  • Fuck. This. Shit. I was once a devoted christain before i pursued education, and looking at this, remembering what it was like, it makes me sick. it's hard to believe, but this stuff actually makes sense to most right wing christians...how long is it going to take before we are rid of all of this?

  • @dson144 It will end when there are more people like you unfortunately; people who are so easily influence by the current educational authority and have become intellectually corrupted by modern ideology. Please take into consideration who is teaching you all your new found enlightenment.

  • @vcotham There are a lot of Christians out there with a higher education too, yet you imply that right wing Christians are ignorant in nature. Ask yourself this: has the world gotten better or worse with the regression of God.

  • @vcotham better to be 'corrupted' by modern ideologies than ancient ones. Better to believe in a truth that is pointed to by evidence, than faith - and if you think the evidence hasn't changed over the last 2000 years, you are the corrupted one. I appreciate the advice to question my teachers, I try to always keep that in mind. My road leading away from religion has been a long one, I wouldn't say there was anything easy about the influence at all.

  • @dson144 Colossians 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.

  • Erm, evolution explains what happened to life after it started, it has nothing to do with how life started. The only reason people say there is no Christian God is because evolution proves that man weren't created out of dust in gods image, they evolved that way.

The reason intelligent design isn't taught in schools is because there's no evidence, there no real reason to believe it's right. There's many other religion and mythological beliefs that aren't taught in school. So why should this?

  • In order for god to be considered in any scientific "equation" we would first have to discover god and prove that he exists..

  • I love Ben Stien!

  • @TheShymom I like him too, but on this particular issue. He's an idiot.

    Al educated, well intentioned idiot.

He has no idial what he is talking about, and says so several times though out this film.

  • nice job obliterating your public image, ben. i used to have a reasonable amount of respect for you. it's truly frightening that a man with this mindset used to work in the white house.

  • @022171 Really, look who's working in the White House now. You probably think they're a bunch of geniuses. Stein's image is just fine from were I'm sitting buddy.

  • Maybe they don't know the difference between a scientific theory and a religious belief...

  • Wankybollocks. Utter wankybollocks.

  • In 1987, well known scholar & educator wrote, The Closing of The American Mind: How Higher Education Has Failed Democracy & Impoverished The Souls of American Students. Prior to this, Alfred Kinsey & his co-sexologists, financed by Rockefeller interests, co-opted science, with a goal of corrupting American culture, law & the American justice system. Kinsey, zoologist, Social Darwinist & fan of Aleister Crowley, provided him with an egineered scientific pretext, for social & political subversion.

  • fuck all this mindless bickering ..... how about this idea .. there's this theory and that theory ..research it for yourself and see which one YOU think makes more sense to YOU.. go with that one .. and don't try to tell the other person their psychotic for not believing what you do. "the invisible man i talk to has a bigger dick than the invisible man you talk to so i'm going to kill you now"

  • @shadowlorde well played sir.

  • You people should be nicer to Stein - he is just making money! :)

  • @vmorgun Forget it!

  • Wow what happened to Ben Stein? The game show was funny but this..

It's like listening to 2 idiots talk.

  • @LikeOMG4real Not "like listening to 2 idiots"...

  • "Why can't you mention in Science that theologians believe their was a higher power that was responsible for the first life"

For the same reason you wouldn't mention that there are some people who believe they have been abducted by Aliens in an astronomy class.....because it's complete BOLLOCKS!!!

  • @estebanrey Not to mention THEOLOGIANS have no place in a science class! Someone needs to tell these guys, ID is NOT a competitive theory because it is NOT A THEORY at all.

Not testable, no evidence, not predictive.... exactly HOW is this a theory?

  • Bueller... Bueller?

  • Dude... Both these guys don't understand... RELIGION IS NOT SCIENCE!!!! If you want to have religious "options" in public high schools, go ahead and make an ELECTIVE class, not a required class like science. Religious groups in schools are common and unpunished because they do not require that all students join. That is the "creationists" true agenda and why they are "persecuted" as Ben Stein puts it. They are trying to make religion mandatory and a very specific, religious, Christian view.

  • @adepressedlife quite the contrary.

  • @adepressedlife Another fact never mentioned by Stein or Bill for that matter is the persecution of non believers and atheists over the generations.

  • @allanhill1 Justifies revenge?

  • ffffffffffffffffffffff

    I give up...

    American TV is just WRONG

    no wounder Americans are stupid.

  • I dont know who's worst ben stein or bill o'reilly

  • If Ben Stein or Bill O'Reilly had to put money on which theory they believed, I think they would change their minds really quick.

  • The film is absolutely awful. THAT should be the issue.

  • separation of church and state!! of fucking course asshole !! why would u want the pope running ur state, or whoever is in the head of the fucking american church ...

    stupid fuckers !!

  • Non-believers make me wanna puke. It's time for all of humanity to accept the Truth: GUMBY IS GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm not sure whether to give this a thumbs up or thumbs down. Thumbs up because it perfectly exemplifies the lunacy of these people, or thumbs down because it makes me want to punch a hole in my wall that they fill prime-time airwaves with this garbage.

  • I love seeing two ----simple-minded pieces of ignorance!!!

    K

  • This kind of broadcast is a superheavy load dragging down human progress. Organized superstition is worlds second biggest problem. Its astonishing that religion still plays a role on human lives and politics.

  • Who is taking Stein's freedom away? What a fucking loony. He's almost as silly as O'Reilly.

  • lawl

  • Ben Stein would do ANYTHING for money..... maybe his intelligence should be redesigned??

  • for pretty much every religion there's a different creation story, do we have to learn them all

  • @EnergizerBunny804 We shouldn't learn any. Could aswell put Lord of the Rings on the curriculum.

  • he still cant come up with one actual example of an expelled scientist. Abiogenesis is coming along nicely. It should be noted that its only about 50 years and probaly less that science has been able to really study the cell. Certainly Darwin had no idea of genetics or the cell. Religion has had at least 4000 years, in which time it did essentially nothing.

  • Where does the evolution theory mention anything about life being created by lightening striking a mud puddle?

  • "It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it."

    -Albert Einstein

  • secular pinheads....hahah bill is so funny when he turns up the crazy

  • deport this guy (ben stein) back to israel !

let him poison his own country and people.

he talks about freedom of speech ! yeaah right

mention the holocaust or talk about jews own most of america.\

and you see what he will say about freedom of speech!

    hypocrite basterd

  • "God makes the sun rise in the morning", "The earth is in the center of the universe", "illnesses are demon-inflicted", "Snakes eat dust", "the sun travels in a boat/cart across the skies", "an alien being Created the heavens and the earth", "the earth is 6000 years old"... Religons have been right about so many things...

  • I don't think Darwinism trys to explain how life began or how the universe was made. What is Ben talking about? It's better to say we don't know how those things started because it's being rational. We don't know and we admit it. We may never know, but to say God did it is just plain stupidity. These guys are morons.

  • We should put that guy in a zoo and feed him bananas and peanuts.

  • I don't necessarily agree with Darwinism as being a proven scientific system... but please do not equate what creationists are going through with persecution. Old White American professors do not know the meaning of true persecution

  • Only 2 theorys of how it began?!, but I want my theory to be taught too! cuz it's actually true! so here u have it.. Belgorg the gay, incestuous, monster baby was here before the universe began. He made sweet love to himself being that he is incestuous (not to be confused with asexual reproduction) creating the universe and everything in it in 7 milligorgs (those are the units his holyness Belgorg bestowed upon us equaling approx. 4.5 billion years) he then set the laws of physics and evolution.

  • @Babeman12

omg i believe that too, yes lets get it thought in schools

  • These two fucking morons, i would be quite happy for them to teach in school that god created the world, IFFFF they find any evidence to support this, scientists do not try and teach kids theories which have no proof, evolution has huge ammounts of proof and now it is thought, if creationism wants to be thought then it must atleast have some proof but it does not, i could easily come up with my own magical idea and say all i want is it to be mentioned the way bill o reily wants religion to be.

  • why cant a made up theory like an invisible tuna sandwhich with laser vision created the earth be thought to children and then they can make up their own mind about it. i agree with bill o reilly, scientists dont know so CLEARLY the invisible tuna sandwhich theory should be atleast mentioned because it has the exact same ammount of proof as creationism, and it cant be disproven. the only diference is that a few million people sahre his views, but it has no more evidence then a tuna sandwhich god

  • god went zap zap zap and we became

  • To be fired from your job (especially as a teacher, even in a public school), denied a grant, or rejected as a scientist because you support intelligent design is perfectly okay. I fully support it. If it's a private decision, then it's not a violation of Free Speech, and if it's a public choice, then it's because you're lying to children and are a threat to science and the progression of knowledge.

  • No, Darwinism doesn't explain how life on Earth began; the Theory of Gravity doesn't explain why you shiver when you piss, Big Bang Theory doesn't include the 11 Herbs and Spices for delicious Colonel, and Photosynthesis doesn't explain the human tailbone. Shocker.

  • Comment removed

  • Creationism is weaker than ambiogenics.

  • Ben Stein is more "idiot", while Bill O'Reilly is more of the ultimate alpha "arsehole"

  • o´reilly vs stein, clash of the retards

  • What idiots. Persecution of Christians? Fuck, there's no such goddamn thing in America. Christians are the socially accepted majority in 99% of all cases in America. Considering that there's no actual viable proof of creationism, I don't think you could call the theory a "card" to lay on the "academic table." O'Reilly and Stein piss me off so much. They are the scourge of the America media, along with a good half of the staff over at Fox.

  • The Bible clearly explains why God had to invent the bacterial flagellum and the human eye because they were too complex for evolution to produce.......can someone refer me to the places in Scripture that explains these processes?

  • "Maybe we're wrong, maybe we're stupid"

    There's no maybe pal.

And btw fuckin' dickheads, they DARE say we're persecuting people... and they are Christians... and doing it with a straight face...

These two fuckers need nailing to a cross.

Oh and is it me alone who wants to repeatedly punch O'Reilly in the face every time I so much as look at him? I'm guessing not.

  • 2+2 is 3, creationism is true and cavemen used to ride to work on pet dinosaurs and mix concrete in the mouth of a pelican...I'm now gonna watch some nascar and eat some fried squirrel in my double wide

  • Anyone else find it strange that he criticises darwinists for using a 19th century theory in the 21st century, when he believes a book more than a millenium old?

  • @jpdidit what's a millennium compared to the existence of the world or universe for that matter? It's a drop in the bucket; let it go.

  • @jpdidit UH OH STRAW MAN ALERT

  • @jpdidit

News flash, einstein. Stein is Jewish, not Christian.

This is a beautiful movie about honest intellectualism. It's just a shame so many posters of both video and inane comments can't get their minds out of bumper sticker land and back to the business of contemplation.

Here's a hint to get you started; there are three overarching branches of knowledge. Science, logic and ethics.

  • @mytruepower2

Newsflash, Einstein. The Torah is over 3000 years old. My statement could have been regarding not only the bible, but the Torah, along with the Quran and Avesta, among other holy books.

  • @jpdidit

Yeah, it could have been. Was it?

  • @mytruepower2

Didn't give it much thought. All of the major creationist religions are based on primitive books.

  • @jpdidit

Then I salute your character for admitting that you didn't think. Thank you.

  • There is a good reason to deny grants to people who believe in intelligent design: THEY BELIEVE IN INVISIBLE SKY FAIRIES WHO DEFY EVERY LAW OF PHYSICS!!!

  • These two need to die.

  • DUMB AND DUMBER 2... only this time uglyer and older

  • Good grief, American tv, Stein shouldn't get any airtime and as for the other guy, how did he get the job in the first place? Judging by what I have seen, the American media is your own worst enemy.

  • Two words: Faux News.

  • @Malsipots Not only Stein, O'Reilly neither (among many others). America's media landscape is pure horror.

  • @Malsipots I agreee. Down with CNN & MSNBC!

  • @Malsipots Yeah, right. Let's censor people like Stein and O'Reilly! And by the way, any scientist who think like they do, should not be allowed to teach! Free speech in the US only for the liberals!

  • @Malsipots What country are you in? Can I move in with you? Will you take me away from this place?

  • this guy has never opened a real book, what an asshole.

  • Bill O'reilly = Bozo

  • Lightning in a mud puddle? I would laugh if it weren't so sad. Here's a hint, Bill + Ben, the flowerpot men - Read a fucking book on the subject!

  • Atheist conservatives must unite !!! :(

People like this make us look freaking BAD.

  • Flat earthists are being persecuted too!

  • OH MY GOD THIS GUY FAILS SO HARD. Yes, everyone has free speech, but that doesn't mean what you say is right. Oh yeah, and "crazy liberal". Yes, us liberals are crazy!

  • Fox News is so obviously biased.

  • It's the darwinists that are being persecuted. And they have a right to fight back don't they?!

  • Yes, I mean, after all what is a PhD in biology worth when you have the bible, just one interpretation of thousands of translations of an ancient codex!

  • "The evolution theory is such a weak theory".......ARE you kidding me?? How can someone speak about something that they have absolutely no apparent knowledge of. "Secular pinheads". O'reilly must be getting senile.

  • I like how Ben Stein likes to be able to use his freedom of speech, but no one else can :)

Religion has always lead to tyranny. The Dark Ages were a product of Christianity.

Just because Ben Stein and Bill O'reilly don't know how life began, doesn't mean that science doesn't. Darwin wasn't trying to answer the question of how life began, only how it became diverse.

  • why cant you just mention in biology class?...wrong class dick head

  • I thought Ben Stein was intelligent. Apparently that was untrue, and "by design". When otherwise intelligent folks passionately discuss unprovable theories, it makes me cringe.

  • All TV and certain other news programs are guilty of violating the Journalist Code of Ethics. It is perfectly legal to report lies, distorted & slanted stories by omission of facts, etc. and all do on a regular basis. News is big corporate business, it simply must make a profit - bottom line. It isn't about truth anymore. It's about selling ads, viewer numbers, & profit.

Those who wish to report the cold, hard facts do so in other ways, not on major news programs, no exceptions.

  • Fox News + Creationism = My head hurts. These guys totally miss the point on evolution and obviously haven't dug into the real science on it.

  • how is a lightning strike in a puddle any less convincing then an old invisible man sitting on a cloud who invented trillions of galaxies in 7 days and only put life on one of them

  • i don't believe in the deathpenalty, but this guy might be a nice sendoff for the chair

  • Hold up... did that moron just call evolution a holdover from the Age of Imperialism? Like it's antiquated? Genesis was written in the Bronze Age, ffs!

Evolution is not an "opinion"! It's proven fact!

I'm going to go bleach my brain after watching that Retardfest. Damn.

  • "Darwinism" is not a theory, it's a word that some idiot creationists gave to biologists.

  • If we mention in science classes that there may also be a Creator, can we not also suggest there is a Preserver and Destroyer ( Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva)? The Hindu creation myth is beautiful, but deserves the same status in science class as any theology - NONE!

  • FFS I always get annoyed when retards say einstein was religious he believed in Spinozas god which means 'god' doesnt get involved in human affairs hence not a god in the current religious sense

  • If you tell any religious organization that their logic is skewed or that what they are saying is ignorant, then they interpret that as persecution.

An example of persecution is when the Catholic church (the first Christians) imposed their will upon p
