Axl was and is an amazing frontman, composer, and musician. Then again, Slash is amazing at what he does. So many kick ass riffs by GnR...Slash gets the credit. In fact, the band would come up with instrumentals then Axl sings on top of that
most of the songs of use your illusion and appetite were written in some form or another before 1986-87. some of it were written even when slash n duff n steven hadnt joined the band.
its not necessary that u need a riff to write a song. slash is slash coz of gnr. im pretty sure u wouldnt find any snakepit or VR songs on a top 10 list of best riffs or solos. no offence i love him as well but he has to step up to the game.
How many more legendary riffs can he come up with? I don't see Joe Perry or Jimmy Page coming up with top 10 riffs outside of their respective bands. And how does Slash need to step up his game? Velvet Revolver has made kick ass riffs, songs and Slither made the top 100 riffs of all time. The also won a grammy. Not bad for someone to come back in the spotlight under a different band and achieve those eh? What has Axl done? Did even win a Grammy? Or even appear in new videos? He needs to step up

Appetite for Destruction was music collaborated by 5 musicians, not 1. Slash has created one of the top guitar riffs in history...thats a huge contribution to GnR's reputation. I doubt GnR wouldve made all these killer songs without Slash's guitar part. Sweet Child, Welcome to the Jungle, Paradise City...their existence is heavily contirbuted to Slash
