the 40d has a built in sensor cleaning system and it can take about 100,000 shutter counts before it could die (i know somebody that does weddings, sports, birds, and people and he's at 143,875 and its still working)

@N6600 remaining doesn't exist, it depends how well you treat it. if you get your camera hit by a cement truck hurtling at 40mph (not likely), your durability may go down, because your shutter is fragile. also, you use this software called eosinfo or something.

The shutter lifetime is more like a around 100 000 pictures.

if you take care of your cameras it probly can work longer

this camera is probably dead by now, the sensor probably has a thin film of dust.

btw, although it does have an auto-cleaning system, it won't work for something as severe as this.

Firstly, sensor has to be cleaned sometimes and nothing will change it.

Secondly, some photos with no lens won't kill it. I'm sure :]

well u can actually get 100.000 exposures with a 40D. He probably wasted about 40 or 50.

not if u take it slowly, and only use burst mode if needed
