i love this show, i used to watch it as a kid and i LOVED it so much. i'm 19 now and i've recently been watching the series over again, and i still love it. i also find myself wishing that i could live in avonlea... i love all things vintage and antique, and i love this simple type of life... sigh it would be so much fun. why isn't life like that anymore!
their was another show that was on after this back in the day that I've been trying to remember it was about a group of kids who find a i think leprechaun or a faun I cant remember the title but plz tell me if you remember?
Oh My God. Flashing Back 2 Myself @ 7 Yrs Old Watching With My Lil' Bro A New Episode Of This All-Time TV Classic On Disney Channel Every Week, Back When DC Was Still Fun 2 Watch (None O That Jonas, Suite Life & Waverley Trash These Days). Thank God, They've Finally Begun 2 Release Road To Avonlea On DVD. But Man, I Was Sad 2 Hear Of Miss Jackie Burroughs (Aunt Hetty) Passing Away Last Month. She'll Always Live On Thru RTA. It's A Real Dam Shame They Just Don't Make TV Shows Like This 1 Anymore.
When I was eight and nine years old, the Avonlea television series, Anne of Green Gables movies, and ENTIRE set of Lucy Maud Montgomery books were my absolute favorites. It transported me to a magical world of charm and adventure, and I STILL intend to visit Prince Edward Island! ;-)
I'll be damned. Just listening to this song, I feel like I'm back in school. I always wanted to visit St. Edward island. I swear, they don't make shows like this anymore. I say they should all do a reunion, or make a younger generation show or movie. Who's with me?
@Alstheman37 i know!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love this show...have you watched their christmas movie?? try watching wind at my back its also good but not as good as avonlea..=)
@kudiepie I used to maneuver between doing homework and watching Little House on the Prairie and Road to Avonlea :) (We were not allowed to watch TV before completing our homework in my house - but I guess my mom closed her eyes when she realized I'm sneaking to watch this kind of programmes :))))))
@Smydzana89 you took the words out of my mouth Disney was the best MMC,Cheetah, DTV now its so corny and lame I dont watch it anymore I feel bad for kids today! :'(
thank you so much for finding this. i was obsessed with this show. i was convinced that i was going to move to st. edward island when i grew up. this almost brought a tear to my eye.
probably one of the most endearing tv theme songs ever written. brings back so many memories of being a kid and watching this with my parents! thank god this show is on DVD.
@markab26 It amazes me how many people judge history by an obviously idealized tv show.I believe Sarah Polley criticized the show for it's sanitized view of history.
@waterlilyqueen Hey there. I wasn't sanitizing history. I wasn't negating all of our benefits that we have today, nor was I suggesting that the early 20th century was paradise. What I saw in the show was a closeness and a sense of being that was a part of that era, that seems to be gone today. It's good to be taken into a telling of a story that creates joy. It may be sanitized as you say, but it also has its own truths as well. I am surprised that my comment is the top rated comment.
o m g i have been watching avonlea since it came onto tv.. thanks sooooooooooo much for posting these for me to enjoy again.. and now that i have 4 little girls they are also enjoying ..YOUR AMAZINGGGGG THANKS SOOOO MUCH!!

I grew up watching Little House on the Prarie and Anne of Green Gables.
This too, was a regular program of mine. You could sit down and watch it with your friends and family--so wholesome and entertaining.
They don't make 'em like they used to.

I remeber this show back when disney channel was premium, and i would have to go to my aunts house to watch it, know the shows all just wreck.

I used to watch it when we'd get free previews of the Disney Channel. Sometimes the cable company would forget to turn off the free preview!
