If you drop a piece of paper or cardboard or anything with a flat surface on the floor where a cat lives, the cat will very soon lay down on it.

All cats are not the same and in this case for example a cheetah that jumps up on vehicles is using it like a termite mound and looking for a nice place to view potential prey.

Actually that's untrue. However, cheetahs are almost clones of each other because of a genetic bottle neck that happened thousands of years ago. There's an enormous amount of diversity amongst other cats. In addition, we were talking about cat behavior and behavior is influenced by a variety of factors and not just genetics.

While what you are saying may be scientifically accurate, you neglect the alien influence upon the feline species. Thousands of years ago, the interspersed fauna served to mask the perpetuation of evolution which we find today. I think we can find common ground on that point.

With any luck the hunted will be the poachers. I mean the locals will see the poachers not as hunting the animals but hurting the locals so will take action against the poachers.

I'm sure it sounds childish, but the cheetah is my favorite animal. Purpose built for speed! Watching them run and change direction at full speed is like art in motion.
