It was just a bad situation because THEY were the ones attacking a well defended fortress, THEY were attacked from the side by thousands of horsemen while staring into the rising sun, and THEY were trapped by the trees when they tried to retreat. Besides, if Gandalf had been any later, Helm's Deep would be theirs.

Bullshit. Sauron was building it for hundreds of years while Saruman built it in a few months if not less. It took only a part of the army of rohan to defeat saruman's army, while it took ass of the combined armies of men + the dead army to barely defeat the small force attacking Minas Tirith . Most of Sauron's army wasn't even participating in the siege. Do you remember the third movie when the black gate opened? But the Uruk-hai are stronger than orcs but much weaker in numbers.

In the movies, the attack on helms deep, there were only 10k uruk hai, and almost all of Rohan and the entire Rohirram appeared to own the Uruk Hai. In minas tirith, there were over 100,000 orcs. 10x the amount at Helms deep, Uruk Hai are way more powerful than regular orcs, but I agree with you, Saurans army was much bigger and ALSO had Uruk hai (minas morgul).

They are the same creature, its just that different creatures in middle earth call them differently. To dwarves, they are goblins, and to other races they are orcs. The movies construed this however.

The Uruk Hai are a bread of orcs that Sarumon created. They are a mix between Orcs and men. They consider themselves the highest ranking Orcs and are the most brutal. Regular Orcs are called Uruk.
