The reality is, aside from the rich jihadi kids that aren't hoping the borders from Syria and elsewhere, the indigenous population that are fighting us have a real reason. I never thought about it until 07 or 08, but there we were on their land, i'd probably take up arms too after years of occupation and civilians being in the cross fire if I were them.

This is one of my all time favorite vids! There is one similar to this one that was shot in Afghanistan a couple of years back. The taliban filmed themselves ambushing a convoy at night and they took cover behind a boulder. There was a hell of alot of return fire by us and in the process the taliban cameraman filmed their own fighters being killed as it was going on.

as a former soldier let me say this to you....EVERYONE of us that served in my platoon QUIT after ONE contract. WHY? When you first join, you dont have a strong sense of your own mortality but every passing year after 19 yrs of age, that sense becomes more and more stronger. Some begin to realize they arent COURAGEOUS but either crazy, suicidal or again lacking a sense of the fragility of life. If you sign up for a second contract you sign alone - everybody else left and went home.

..If you have any doubt about what i said you simply need to look at the list of American soldiers who were killed in Iraq - thousands of them and almost all in their teens and early 20s. VERY rarely you will find a dude who is 40 friggin years old. And for what its worth, military life is BORING.
