amazing riffing dude and the really show how great the mark v is like no other video. i wanted to know if it could achieve the down tuned aggressiveness i use great video
@jakelongmetal thanks dude ... of course it could, its actualy great at holding its shit together in that area. i actualy prefer playing my 7 string through the mark than i do my recto. the mark saturates alot better and doesnt fall apart when you play low. it also has a nice midrange definition that you need with that low stuff. i recomend
Sorry for my english...when i was 8 , my mom buy me a mesa mk3 blue stripe from a montréal store...belive me i play with it again and again...last 2 month i have buy a mk5 head...only 2 month, sold it and i decide to keep my old mk3...more brutal...eq are more sensitive on the mk3 , mk5 have too much but nothing perfect...mk3 are simple but it does waht it suppose to do...mk3 win for me !!!
It depends alot on your cabinet and guitar dude. Trust me, I just found out that my cab sucked shit. I bought a 2x12 mesa cab, and it brought my mark V to life.
3 ch rectos are pure chug amps there overly bassy, no note definition even with an od, 2 chs are the way to go imo a 2 ch recto dirty tone kills a mark iv or v dirty outta the water, of course the marks are more versatile though.

@gearslut69 thanks, i just made these few vids to show off the room sound of the amp ... i have actual recorded clips over a drum track under my vids if you wanted to check it out
when I was lookin around for an amp i just looked for LOUD. and my favs play mesa and marshall. so I went the mesa route. I havent explored the possibility of being guitar. I have a kramer which plays well. but has just a dimarzio some previous owner installed. I have been thinking about putting either the sh-8 invader or an e-81. But I just thought maybe there would be an easy answer. the mesa sounds GREAT Its just sounds so thick and chunky and i kinda want to think it out a little.
HOLY CRAP. I got a dual rec but i cant get anything like that. I must be doing something wrong....got the metal zone and that wakes it up, but makes my highs for soloing sound muffled....guess I should look at gettin one of these unless someone has any suggestions?
@brbong well it doesnt seem like i get enough distortion. and what i do get sounds really "thick" I guess youd say. I want that shredding sound the metal zone kinda thins it out a little and boosts the gain so it sounds good. just like i say, i try to do solo stuff and it sounds "muffled" highs dont sound bright and trebly I guess lol Im not good at explainin
@yamaduderory ...loads of money and no interest to know what you actually buy...that's my real opinion while reading what you wrote here.... it's like someone who buys a ferrari and says he cant go faster than 100mph ^^
@RustyPease I admit im not an avid guitar player....strum here and there from time to time....played alot more when i was younger before the family. but that doesnt mean I have to buy shit. When I was wanting an amp I wanted LOUD cuz had a drummer/friend I would jam with sometimes. got tired of being drowned out all the time.....yea the mesa solved THAT problem lol
@yamaduderory why would you use a metal zone with a dual rec? Are you not polluting the classy rec tone with cheap distortion? If I were you I would invest in a maxon 808 to boost the tubes. It will give you extra gain and tighten the amp too
I shit myself, need toilet paper real bad right now, the best metal amp ever created , thanks MARK 5! And all that tone at either 10 watts bedroom or 90watts bedroom volume, or blow your head of volume levels. All sounds supreme. rock on!
I'm curious. Why would you use active pickups that have an internal boost, eq, and compression but never boost an amp with a pedal? Seems kinda contradictory. Anyway, I appreciate your clip. It's difficult to find good metal clips of the Mark V on YouTube.
@brbong No, what's retarded is being a hypocrite and and asshole. You don't understand your own equipment. Good luck with you basement wankery, loser.
@trniquet i may be an asshole, your right i get that all the time ... but how am i a hypocrite ??? in what way does an active pickup have the same affect on tone as running a boost pedal in front of an amp ?? i just dont get what your trying to say, and i think that your calling me out on something that makes no sense at all. have a nice day and if you dont like my vids dont watch them, i made them for people interested in buying the amp.
An active pickup does NOT have the same effect as boosting the front end of your amp.
It just makes your amp sounds stale, flat, and lifeless.
Boosting it can do a number of things, tighten the tone, boost the gain on a lower gain amp, or add a certain colouring to the tone the amp doesn't normally have.
@JVM410ftw Hi, Dipshit! An active pickup, especially one like an EMG 85 or 81 uses an internal preamp to boost the signal coming from the coil. Both of these use a low-power bar magnet to reduce string pull and doppler-effects of pole pieces (this increases sustain). As a result, the signal generated by the coil is too weak to be adequate for driving a preamp. So, a powered preamp is used to boost the signal to a set level, and to adjust EQ and reduce noise.
@trniquet I already know ALL of this, and Then some.
And after a decade and a half of playing, I can tell you it does STILL not serve even a similar function.
The tonal colouring is very different, it does not so much boost your signal above what it normally is as a typical boost, just boosts the weak signal of the pickup to give off the perception that it's higher output than it really is.
And all that comes at the price of headroom, btw. Which makes active pickups undesireable for many.
Respond to this video... The point of all of the above is to show you that many of the same characteristics of tone alteration are used in active pickups as in boost pedals. However, whereas the pickups are a set device with no flexibility, a boost is adjustable. Hence, my original question to brbong: why would you swear off of using a boost, when your pickups are in fact acting as a boost to your preamp? BTW: I don't think there's anything wrong with either approach.
Respond to this video... All the info I've listed is part of EMG's own literature on their website. I won't claim that active pickups and boosts sound the same and serve identical functions, but they employ different solutions to common signal processing problems. If you think that's moronic, you may want to reexamine your understanding of the word.
@IIVikingII Exact same man , i hate playing lamb of god when i have a shitty tone , ive never believed you can get decent metal tone from just an amp , i always thought you needed a ton of pedals , but you could just use this amp and a speaker cab and you have more than perfect metal tone , especially for lamb of god , willie and mark , 2 of the best tonal monsters in the business , L O G ! <3
Holy shit the bottom end is tight! I'm digging your tone man, its like perfect balance between tight/round bottom end + very clear high end/sharpness. =)
nice tone, ive noticed that a couple clips of this amp sound really good (like yours) but the most of them sound extremely dry with the gain and doesn't really sound "metal", you say its just people cant dial it in or what?
my mate got one of these (mark 5 combo 1x12) for xmas... i have a fucking peavey bandit... how the fuck is my lead going to cut through this for fuck sake... D: I need an ENGL now he has a mark V omfg
Dude... I keep watching this Vid and it keeps me saving for a Mark V and ive owned most.. sadley.... this is by far the or one of the best clips on the net, what would be super rad is to see what its like with lower tunings man, e.g B tuning slipknot people = shit, hatebreed C# etc.. be a prime example to show why the 5 shits on bogner :-) please keep em coming man!
@munchy040 honestly dude id take this mark 5 over anything .... ive owned overpriced expensive amps and i just dont understand why there worth what they sell for .... the herbie goes for what $5k after taxes ...fuck that shit the mark gets into that brutal gain territory at half the price
@brbong your right i did have a mark v i sold it for the 2010 multiwatt dual rec big mistake now i either want the mark v back or the diezel herbert ! i think the mark v is tighter and has a bit more gain than herbert but it just dosnt quite sound as big as the herby .... i dunno !
@munchy040 I got the chance to fucc aroun with one yesterday...They are nice. The amp was on a stiletto cab and it was really tight. It will take some getting used to for me. I imagine it would have the punch i'm looking fer with the right cab. Perhaps the Recto cab?
@bchewdown i owned 1 and ran it through a mesa stiletto 4x12 straight front cab and it was awesome , unfortunently i sold it for a 2010 dual rec big mistake .... the dual rec is sick but it just cant do what the mark v does
@Leeh129 the riff from 0:45-1:02 is an as i lay dying riff from the song reflection .....all the rest of the noodling is stuff i came up with on the spot for my vids
@brbong Thank you!! You're the only other person I've ever seen that thinks that. I can't stand player that pedal their amps out and drown out the sound with lame pedals... haha
@LaMPje131313 pedals are modelling tone, u'll never get the same / better tone than a mark 5 with pedal. and it just sounds digital, not good for recording as well. man up, buddy.
Your tone is totally sick! I've been searching this demo for so long... gread vid!

At what level do you use the gain?
You bring out teh metalzzzzz with that thing!!!!
All the other vidz dont get as much into metal as you do...

Godlike tone. Wanted one of these since i started listening to Lamb Of God. Too bad it would cost me a kidney.
IIVikingII 1 year ago
@IIVikingII Exact same man , i hate playing lamb of god when i have a shitty tone , ive never believed you can get decent metal tone from just an amp , i always thought you needed a ton of pedals , but you could just use this amp and a speaker cab and you have more than perfect metal tone , especially for lamb of god , willie and mark , 2 of the best tonal monsters in the business , L O G ! <3

@moneymoney220666 Mark V is awesome for whatever you want to play. and its insanely loud!!
cacguitarplayer 1 year ago
@moneymoney220666 I would say dual rec because it's more dirty and grainy sounding. Mark V is better for thrash where you need tight fast attack
thrasher10000 10 months ago
nice tone, ive noticed that a couple clips of this amp sound really good (like yours) but the most of them sound extremely dry with the gain and doesn't really sound "metal", you say its just people cant dial it in or what?

@munchy040 honestly dude id take this mark 5 over anything .... ive owned overpriced expensive amps and i just dont understand why there worth what they sell for .... the herbie goes for what $5k after taxes ...fuck that shit the mark gets into that brutal gain territory at half the price
brbong 1 year ago
@brbong your right i did have a mark v i sold it for the 2010 multiwatt dual rec big mistake now i either want the mark v back or the diezel herbert ! i think the mark v is tighter and has a bit more gain than herbert but it just dosnt quite sound as big as the herby .... i dunno !

munchy040 1 year ago
@munchy040 I got the chance to fucc aroun with one yesterday...They are nice. The amp was on a stiletto cab and it was really tight. It will take some getting used to for me. I imagine it would have the punch i'm looking fer with the right cab. Perhaps the Recto cab?
bchewdown 1 year ago
@bchewdown i owned 1 and ran it through a mesa stiletto 4x12 straight front cab and it was awesome , unfortunently i sold it for a 2010 dual rec big mistake .... the dual rec is sick but it just cant do what the mark v does
munchy040 1 year ago
@bchewdown now im trying to sell the dual rec

Hell of a tone you got there, it's almost enough to rip your face off with the grittiness, but smooth enough to ear every note.

@brbong Thank you!! You're the only other person I've ever seen that thinks that. I can't stand player that pedal their amps out and drown out the sound with lame pedals... haha
I just plug into my amp and play! simple enough.
Great amp, dude!

metalmusiqcrzy 1 year ago
@LaMPje131313 pedals are modelling tone, u'll never get the same / better tone than a mark 5 with pedal. and it just sounds digital, not good for recording as well. man up, buddy.
