  • i took that video sample to use as an external link on the article about tamure on the french wikipedia :)

The sound quality is not as bad as it s usually on a video, and i thought it might be a good exemple about how training and practicing toere is.

i really like the 1:03 to 1:06 part. Good tempo ;)

  • These two guys are a couple of da most humble, coolest drummers I know. Say What up to Kin, and Keep em up!! I'll be down to visit sometime soon. Brudda Mike (drummed wit you @ SJ Fete)

  • Glad to hear you were able to use it. Keep on shake'in! :)

  • I replied yesterday but I dont know what happen to it.

You can't see it in the video but we are sitting on those plastic yard chairs. They have those arm rests that stick out. So to avoid smacking his elbow he just props up the pahu. It turns out that its really comfortable.

About 4 weeks ago I had the opportunity to sit with Jay. This video was shot way before then. Jay is an awesome toere player! You know him?

  • that is soo cool!!!!

  • That was clean playing. Right On!

  • wher can i get one of those drums that was great

  • Thanks. The best place to get one without going to the islands is at a Tahitian compitition (aka fete). These wood logs are known as a 'Toere' from Tahiti. Many islands in the So. Pacific have similar looking instruments. In Samoa they are known as 'Pate', in Fiji a 'Lali' and so on. The sounds are different. A toere is what you are looking for. There are some that you can buy online but personally I dont recommend it. You need to actually play it yourself to know what your getting.

  • thanks anyway way we do not have any Tahitian compitition (aka fete).in belfast

  • i have a few toeres from tahiti if u wanna buy but i live in hawaii
