  • As a distance runner, much respect to Dean, however I kind of feel like he's becoming a poster-child for sponsors trying to sell their stuff to the running community. Not saying there's much too wrong about that, we need to know what's out there; I'm just saying be careful not to let the run be about anything more than running and the enlightenment. Nowadays it's far too easy for people to be bought. Keep up the good work Dean, you're an inspiration to the way of life.

  • @ipoollax7

you're a fucking idiot. Don't hate on someone who is successful while you're just a average joe-douchebag, sitting around thinking you're better than everyone.

  • Dean is nothing more than a media whore. He brings nothing new to the table, his times are straight shit, he travels around preaching to average joes about how to run when he has some of the worst habits endurance runners can have and saying how great he is when it is clear that he is not. If the general public wasnt so naive towards running they would understand Dean is nothing more then a giant douschbag

  • @lpoollax7 You are Joe Jerkoff

  • I attempted the world record for 24hrs two weeks ago, managed 129.2 mles, not bad, I was happy with that in the end.

  • Why are people comparing a marathon to an ultra? It's like comparing a marathon to a half marathon, a half marathon to a 10k, 10k to a 5k...just because you're fast/good at one, doesn't meen you'll be the best in everyone. For the record, the guy is an unknown legend. How many people have visited all 50 states, let alone run a marathon in them for 50 consecutive days? I rest my case

  • Endurance, definitely. Athletic prowess, that's debatable.

  • However for most of the professional Ultra guys a 90km isnt that hard. I would consider Anton Krupicka a "jogger" in terms of running strides.

  • There was a story i read about a runner that won the Kansas City Marathon (I believe he was from Kenya) And he went out and tried a 50 mile trail run. He did not win or even place in the top 5. And his Marathon time is much faster then 3 hours. Marathons to Ultra guys are just warm ups.

  • @pandafc all winners of comrades marathon (90 km race in south africa) are excellent marathoners. No Dean-like jogger comes close to winning that race. Joggers like Dean struggle to beat the cutoff time of 12 hours.

  • I said to hell with it after 15 minutes on a treadmill today out of boredom and the fact that I can't stand running in one place. This is ridiculous. But awesome.

  • I have nothing but respect for this man...both his athletic ability and his humble attitude..if only more athletes could be like this.

  • @MegaPeterpark humble? are you shitting me? the guy is slow as shit and gets all the awards. This guy is a fucking jogger not a runner. My marathon time is better than his. I can run sub 10 hour 100k can he? This guy is a product of the idiotic media. Not only is he not the best, he's not even among average ultra runners, his times are fucking embarrassing.

  • imagine the boredom

  • How well would he do at Comrades?

  • @lucasboden he wouldn't finish because the cutoff time is 12 hours.

  • He should run with the tarahumara and see how he holds up. 24 hours is a jog for them.

  • @patrick71489 Nah bro i'll run with my state champs xc squad.

  • Nobody runs the gay down like Dean.

  • he ran for 24 hours?! D:

  • Karnazes is good but Yiannis Kouros could eat this guy for breakfast.

  • wonder could bekele beat him or any of the worlds top marathoners

  • @racketer You could probably beat him he's not a good runner just a decent self-promoter. By the way Bekele has never run a marathon.

  • @BGE2100 bekele ant ran a marathon yet but when he does he will probably rank in the top 5 for it. Same as geb it took him a few years to master it but he did and was the greatest.

  • @racketer I agree with BGE, I think you could beat him too. To beat this guy all you probably need is a pair of shoes. Just so you know his marathon PB is 3 hours, he has never ran sub 3 hour marathon. The cyclist Lance Armstrong ran 2:45 and beat the living shit out of Dean by 15 minutes, what do you think of that?

  • @FourSeasonRunner deans pb is 2.30. Get your facts straught retard

  • @racketer where is the evidence for 2:30, retard? Give me a link because my PB is 2:06 as long as I don't have to provide any evidence.

  • @FourSeasonRunner no yours isnt i looked up your stats your shit

  • @racketer yes it is now. I used to run 3+ hours like Dean but now it's faster, you're talking out of your ass.

  • Sh#tty music..

  • why does he need to wear glasses on the treadmill?

  • cuz the sun was in his face!?

  • so he could read the info on the treadmill

  • the song is by daft punk , not daft , great band

  • 24 hrs...I've just done 4 hrs and I'm fucked!! LOL

  • Does anyone know what song that is? would be good to load in the IPOD for running?

  • The artist is The Daft. The song is Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.

  • what?

  • He went 48 hours doing the same thing recently

  • WTF !!!!

  • 24 hour run eh...not for me, two hours tops before I call it quits

  • He's running 24 hours on that treadmill to promote a sports drink...thats all he drank the whole time, forget what it's called though

  • Accelerade... its right on his singlet

  • How fast was he going?

  • LOL What kinda nonsense/elitest comment is that!! LMAO!! I run on road and trail and marathons and ultras BUT traedmills are just another suface to run on!! Good for a quick 20 min speed session!!! :) "Lazy" I find your comment lazy in an internal sense.

  • Actually, powered treadmills do provide an easier workout in some ways than a comparable workout on a track or the road. Because the surface you run on is moving towards you it is easier to move "forward". I have heard that treadmills are harder on the knees compared to running outside but that's hardly something I'd brag about.

  • Hey why don't you try to run for 24 hours?

  • No offense to DK but I can't imagine a more boring way to run that far. If I'm going to run for 24 hours, I need some scenery! Yeesh!

  • Dean is running that far on a treadmill because he's done pretty much everything else!

  • I doubt he's bored with the sights available on runs and furthermore, how is a treadmill better? I'd say he's running on a TM so that he can be filmed for the duration and no other reason.

  • you are right, i doubt that he's bored with the sights on runs. i think he just wants to accomplish as many endurance feats as possible

  • Publicity, publicity, publicity.

  • Dean the Machine
