@BlindTealc That's probly what they had in mind, because if you listen the music as a lot more drive to it, like "Holy crap the worlds gonna blow up if we dont get serious bro" Then in the DS Square-Enix decided to put it to use after all

I like to think Chrono Trigger was intended to have a different battle theme for each time period.

Heck, the Pre-Release/Proto has that prehistoric version of the normal battle theme, and this song would've worked in 2300 AD.

Either way, shame it went unused in the real game.

My personal opinion...i forget when it is, but after Crono gets revived, this song should come in. It would be awesome...like a "The Hero Returns" kind of thing :3

Could be. I haven't played the DS version; Arena of Ages doesn't exist in the original SNES version, therefore this was an unreleased song.

@PeyserConley Yes, this definitely is played on the DS version, when fighting your monster in the Arena of ages. Guess it didn't make the cut as a real battle theme.

@bhspanthers007 originally this song wasn't used in the SNES release, but was still in the game's code. It could only be accessed via cheats, and would replace the usual battle theme. in the DS release, since the song existed in the game's code, they enabled it to play during the Arena of Ages as the music for it. otherwise, it'd just be sitting on the ds card for no reason again.
