@KTJoyProductions I own this camera and the video is very, very good for it's price range. The audio is another matter. If you are filming a family gathering or some other such similar event, it is fine. However, don't EVEN think about using it for filming a live band or any loud music or event. UTTER distortion that is completely un-listenable.i.e. white noise. Of course a way around this problem is to buy a Zoom H2 or H4 recorder, record with that, and sync the sound in editing.
K, hold on, i have the exact same camera. Go on my youtube, check out my HD test for this thing, its on 720p hd, full resoloution everythinmg, and still doesnt loo kas sexy as yours!
Thanks for posting this. I was looking for a budget HD camcorder, and these shots look amazing (although not extremely sharp) for the current pricepoint of $124 at amazon.com!
@UbiquitousGeek Hello :) thanks for uploading! This camera looks excellent but I'm just wondering if it has auto focus and if it has a quick reaction time? So if I am filming something and then put it really close to the camera will it adjust really quickly or will you need to wave your hand in front of it so it realises? lol Some cameras are really bad with that
hey i just got this camera and i have had nothing but problems i dont know wether its just me but once i have uploaded the footage on my computer when i watch the video the quality is like the quality on a iphone not good at all i wanted it to film some skateboard footy its good on the camera as i upload it to my docs or to facebook its unbelievebly crap quality any help or suggestions Thanks:)
@TheDylanSmart If it's dropping frames, your computer just isn't powerful enough to handle HD video. Use VGA resolution if you're having that problem, or buy a new computer or better graphics card.
Could be the class of the memory card too, for the 1080 hd video it would be need it a class 10 i think as it writes at more than 16Mbps and the full hd os these cam is enconded at 16Mbps

Well, I was thinking of getting this camcorder, but it doesn't look like the video is as crisp as many are....
/watch?v=QyrH2A2R7go&feature=related(Please watch this one...)
This video seems very blurry for the Sanyo... Is that the normal video quality or what? Please let me know if you think it is worth getting right now, or if you have any other suggestions... Thanks!
@ctophman The first clip isn't raw, it's stabilized with iMovie, so it's a little fuzzy because you lose pixels in stabilization. The other clips are raw.
@ckentertainment10 Japanese brands, like Kingston. Anything with a high class rating will do. I've noticed that Sandisk 4GB cards are rated at Class 4, while their 8GB cards are rated Class 2. I use an 8GB card from Gigaware (RadioShack's private label, made by Sandisk) with absolutely no trouble. A lot of times, glitchy video is caused by lack of graphics power on your machine or just using bad software. Try VLC for playback.
Wow. That's actually fairly impressive for a $130 camera. Shame it doesn't have auxiliary mic input. I'm still probably going to purchase it, it looks well worth the price.
One problem between me deciding on this camera is the zoom. The Ki8 is better image quality but has no proper zoom like this samsung. cnet bashed the hell out of the Xacti in the stills dept (And I have no clue about the Hitachi's), amongst 10 MP cams. I was wondering what's your experience with the Xacti's stills?
@IcarusLanding Stills are great outdoors, but indoors, as with most video cameras, it's not so great. As I keep stressing with everyone, good lighting is important.
@LilKyrouac I wouldn't say that I'm a pro, but I do know how to use my camera and, sometimes, I do know a good shot when I see one. The rest of the credit goes to Apple for giving me excellent tools to mold what I capture.
I cannot believe that this video was recorder with SAnyo xacti cg 10. No way this camera has this quality. I think it was a different camera...and someody paid you to write that the camera is actually Sanyo xacti....this way they can sell their products. So...tell us, what is the real name of the camera ? Canon Vixia HF20 ?
@Collin2377 Bwahahahahahaha!!! Sanyo should be paying me, but alas, they are not, and this video is quite real. Sanyo, believe it or not, actually makes some really nice products. I have customers that swear by their Sanyo Katanas. Go ask TokyoCooney how he feels about his Xacti. They are excellent camcorders, but like any camera, it takes a some skill, and a little luck, to get great results. The tool is only as good as the person using it.
@UbiquitousGeek can you give me an idea of the other settings that need to be fixed in order to get the macro to work at its best and what should I set them at? I too am not seeing the best potential of the close ups and would like to see the results you are getting.
I as well am wondering what video editing software you use. I have this camera and am having issues finding a user friendly software for this file format. What do you use?
@musictransistor You need software that is compatible with AVCHD camcorders. Windows software is behind the times when it comes to HD video. H.264 is the standard for good HD camcorders. I use Quicktime Pro, iMovie '09 and Final Cut Express.
It makes a HUGE difference if you are outside, if your not, quality may not be that good, if you want to see what the SUPER MACRO setting is, go to my video, THE CREATURE IN DRIVERS ED, and check out my other videos while your there.
EVERYBODY...ive figured out perfect qualtiy for my sanyo: Video Settings: 1280x720 Video Stabilizer: On Focus: Standard, for close ups where the background blurs: Super Macro (very nice quality) Focus Mode: 9-PT Autofocus EXP Measure: Multi Exposure: 50 (depends on where you are) White Balance: AWB, or Auto Exposure: Programm Face Chaser: On High Sensitivity: On Digital Zoom: Off This is exactly what i have set on, my recent skate videos have awsome qualtiy, (not winter skate session)2ndComment
@SevenFlags123 You have to play with the exposure and ISO settings. In poor lighting, you will have a hard time, this is true with all cameras. If you want to get a clear picture, turn on as many lights as possible, or film in direct sunlight.

Hey quick question. I just brought a Sanyo Xacti CG10 HD the other week. But I was wonder what movie editor are you using?? and my videos have the black bars on the side how do I get rid of them and make it full widescreen, do you know?>?... thanks for your help.
high, i've had the flip ultra hd for a few months and while i was impressed by the video quality, the cam broke down 3 times! tired of flip. looking to get a new camcorder and im wondering bout this one. but need more real info, like how long have u had it and has there been any troubles? how is it in low light cus the flip ultra hd didnt do so well, also, was the footage easy to transport to ur computr and into an editing progrm without the need to convert?any info u have will be helpful.tanks
yeah... the footage from many cameras have many problems... like after you published the video... the footages from your camera(raw and not converted) lags and have imbalance FPS.... and I have learn that lesson the hard way.....
I've had it for seven months now and I'm still in love with it. I haven't had any problems yet. No camcorder is going to do very well in low light. You've always got to have decent lighting. Yes, the footage is easy to transfer to my computer and I didn't have to convert the footage to edit it. Then again, I'm using a Macintosh. I use iMovie '09.
Use a tripod and learn how to use the optimal settings for your shooting conditions. Good photography (video and stills) isn't just about the quality of the hardware. It takes a little skill and knowledge, as well. Don't give up, just read the manual. Trial and error, my friend.
Do you use any software ore picture is as straight from camera?
Looks very nice.

high, i've had the flip ultra hd for a few months and while i was impressed by the video quality, the cam broke down 3 times! tired of flip. looking to get a new camcorder and im wondering bout this one. but need more real info, like how long have u had it and has there been any troubles? how is it in low light cus the flip ultra hd didnt do so well, also, was the footage easy to transport to ur computr and into an editing progrm without the need to convert?any info u have will be helpful.tanks

yeah... the footage from many cameras have many problems... like after you published the video... the footages from your camera(raw and not converted) lags and have imbalance FPS.... and I have learn that lesson the hard way.....
anyways... is the camera of Sony good??
Cause I'm using a digital Camera...

My father just bought my mother a Sony camcorder for Christmas, for $250. My $199 Xacti makes it look like a baby's toy in regards to image quality.

That's fucking AMAZING What kind of settings you have on there like shutter speed ISO aperture etc because that looks GREAT
I just bought the camera and the color in my video's isn't as good as yours.
ScorchinBeats 2 years ago
I have no idea what my settings were. I did play around with them, though.

does anyone know how this would do with skateboarding?
Skateboarding is fast and with some cameras, it makes it pretty blured, would this be a good camera for skateboarding?

Would you recommend paying an extra $100, for the waterproof version of this?
The Sanyo Xacti vpc-cg10?
FabulousStar23 2 years ago
If that's what you need, sure. It does make the camera a little more bulky.
UbiquitousGeek 2 years ago
I thinking of buying this camera before I saw this, but now I ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE IT.

I just bought this camera and my video is not this crisp can you tell me why?
macmayne12 2 years ago
Use a tripod and learn how to use the optimal settings for your shooting conditions. Good photography (video and stills) isn't just about the quality of the hardware. It takes a little skill and knowledge, as well. Don't give up, just read the manual. Trial and error, my friend.

is the sanyo xacti vpc-cg10 the same as the sanyo vpc-cg10?
if not, is the xacti more expensive?
thanks!

is it auto focus? or fixed ?
swisschocolate231 2 years ago
It has auto focus, but I can't remember if I was using auto or manual in this footage.
UbiquitousGeek 2 years ago
is it just me or does it look a bit unfocused..the depth of field feels non existent..it's not terrible but..there's no sharpness.
