I waistgate is a valve that will relaease all the excess pressure that the turbo unit will make. The turbo unit will produce a certain amout of pressure depending on a few diffrent variables, elevation above sea level, size of the engine, exhaust gas velocity, and tempiture of the ambiant air. Your engine is tuned to for a exact amount of pressure/boost. The waistgate is contolled by the boost controler and opens and closes to regulate the boost pressure.

@Luee115 that is competely wrong. 10 psi is not 10 psi on 2 completely different turbos. you have to take into consideration the compression ratio of the turbo's compressor housing, compressed air temperature, and turbulence. 10psi of air @100*F is more air than @200*F by mass. Power is created by pounds of fuel per hour with the correct stoichiometric compensation of air by MASS. not volume.

Supras are dyno queens. They are vapable of producing high number but cant put it to the asphalt. Not as well as they should. Dot get me wrong i love supras but its facts. Love to see what kind of people gwt mad at this comment lol.

You are right that properly sized turbos will make a bigger powerband. But a larger turbo will produce more power than a smaller turbo. Ever ran 10 lbs of boost on a TD04 then 10 lbs of boost on a 60 trim? There is a difference.

@joshuadonofrio Actually, if you read the description you can tell that the person that posted this video was not involved with the recording of the video. he has no idea if it is a test or for the hell of it...as he/she said. The last thing that would melt on that turbo system is the wastegate. The engine was barely able to spool it up, much less overheat the any part of the turbo. That turbo is completely capable of flowing more exhaust than that engine can produce. It is not the wastegate.

This was at Total Performance Service in West Palm Beach, Fl They normally run a twin setup but they were just messing around with this 98mm turbo. It runs like an 8 or something like that. 8.5 But the person you with the earmuffs has now passed away. That is Marshall he was the 2jz king.

People look at the turbo tables on the website. If you had two cars one with a 60trim 81 ar, then another with a smaller trim turbo and smaller AR ex:65, the smaller one will woop azz on low end. The larger one will smoke the vehicle on mid to top end. Then other variables come into play!!! Ballbearing, 3 inch exhaust, playing with the electronic boost controller etc....etc.....timing, you best know your stuff before posting and making a fool of yourself.

A three turbo setup works much better, I run two into one on a Bonneville salt flat truck with a 500 ci diesel a 3 charger setup will last for a longer period of time because they are not working so hard. I get 105#'s of boost for a long period of time. this turbo will not ....but it is very cool !

if no one knows the story on this car... basically the turbo was fitted because it was a test to see the reading it would have..... they were messing about, and first of all, it wasnt the wastegate that blew to pieces, the wastegate it mounted lower down to the front of the car, and secondly the person that eft a comment saying 2 smaller turbos would work better.... is wrong, a single turbo works much more efficient and generates more power and even sound!.
