These Scotland videos were fantastic. I love the person they had do this and it was very entertaining. So much history from Scotland and it's all so enjoyable.
My only criticism so far is why does the narrator keep walking around when he's talking? It's gets dizzying sometimes and hard to focus cause there's so much movement.
@Bushinit002 Eventually we did get one, with Robert the Bruce, and Bannockburn. He is the prime descendant of the current Queen of the UK, Canada, Australia, etc...
Scotland won, our king ruled England, and we forgave, forgot, moved on and forged the largest empire in the history of the world by working WITH the English.
@PT8475 i like that we forgave, forgot, and also worked together. but idk i just dont like the fact that they are one nation, seeming as they are two totaly different cultures. thnks for the info :)
@Bushinit002 Scotland does have a Royal Family. It's the Windors. Queen Elizabeth II is descended from the Stewarts - as well as many other royal families from around Europe. There, in fact, has been debate throughout the Queen's reign as to whether she should be called Elizabeth II of England and I of Scots since the Scots have never had Queen by that name before. The Crowns of England and Scotland were joined in 1707 with the Act of Union and has been the Crown of Britain ever since.
@Bushinit002 Also, the cureent Queen has a Scottish mother. Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, was a daughter of The Earl of Strathmore and the family home of Glamis Castle. She also had another home right in the far north of Scoland called The Castle of Mey.
BBC makes great documentaries about history. This one, but Battlefield Britain as well. I'm from the Netherlands and I'd love a series about our history. But I'm afraid that'll never happen, public broadcasting here is nothing like the BBC...
The movie Braveheart is kind of confusing after Wallace's death. It claims that Robert the Bruce unites the Scots and wins their independence at Bannockburn in 1314.. but there's no mention of that in this episode. I guess it happens later?
@MrMetalheart10 "even to this day the English have'nt destroyed him"? You're right, I'm English and I haven't destroyed ANY 700 year old decapitated folk heroes.
How are you getting on with killing Robin Hood?
It's a fun game this, but I'm not sure I understand it to be honest.
I have but one complain: why make blood that looks nothing like blood? I know it is just a documentary, but such simple detail draws off attention. Besides, there are thousands of ways to mix liquids to look like blood. Just google for it.
Love it , love it, love it.. Makes our history come to life. Wish we had had this when we were learning our Scottish history in 1B2, (we all know who we were) we would have got an A+.instead of zzzzzz Ye canna whack it, Great stuff.
@Rfc1Darryl as a person with both Scottish and English ancestors, and being born in a different country and more than 3rd generation here, i can be non bias and say that the Scottish are way better, and the English seemed to have been more evil bastards throughout history, the hatred between the Scotts and the English? yes but the Scottish have more reason to hate.
a think the SNP political party that want scottish independence have been hit with some english money, n thats why ther white paper on the independence referendum would have the queen head of state, wat a joke
@Rfc1Darryl as long as we have independence the queen can carry on doin fuckall for all i care. most english cant even be bothered with the bitch any more either. SAOR ALBA GU BRATH
I enjoyed the entire thing, and through the years i researched the topic,,i found out alot more about Alexander II and III, and how everything lead the way to the Scottish wars of independance, this documentary filled the empty parts of the puzzle that is Scotland's war's of independance to me. Thank You!
Great stuff, thanx for the upload.

Never believe Hollywood over-dramatisations either.
Braveheart was a great film, but it is based on the William Wallace story not the actual facts!
jonnymcmurphy 10 months ago 3
@piratebri yes, the bruce comes after wallace, so that'll be in a later episode. understand?

wallace was a mercenary to begin with right, he served in the english army i think?

@rlazera It only draws off attention if you're easily distracted. Besides, it could have been claret for me, as a kind of metaphor.
Seeing as it was a babies blood, I was more than satisfied with an unconvincing depiction of it.

I think wallace was a true hero. Anyone who defends their nation/loved ones from oppressors, should be deemed as one.
