It's a nice cake; i'm not sure if you got an answer about keeping your figures round, but just in case you need to place them in a flower former, or if you don't have one, you can buy that foam egg crate looking material or even use regular egg crates with crumpled up saran wrap inside. springkle with the sugar or cornstarch and lay you rfigure in it. hope that helps.
woow its amazing how did you learn to do this beutiful cake i love baking and you just took me to a new world of cakes thnx i must learn how to do such wonderful cakes to my little nice. or how you now spell it =)
Hi lovely cake, Wondered if you first made a smaller lump of fondant stuck on one end of a wooden skewer and let that dry. Then later, build the head around that and so it is supported by the skewer and not lean against anything so it wouldn't go flat.
i had a hard time making my gumpaste Hello Kitty figure. I actually set it down around the bottom of the head so if it did sink in, you wouldn't be able to notice it. take a look at my hello kitty on my page.. its not perfect but i think it was good for being my first one
@emilybebes I believe I used either spaghetti or a toothpick to hold the head to the body and that was enough to hold it up. I also let the figure dry before placing it on the cake
The cake looks so pretty and cute! Love the two tones of pink. The design is very whimsical and really catchy. I love how you had two different stripes, it gave it a lot of character. The bows are beautiful! I love how puffy they look, definitely my taste. I also love the ruffled border that you added, it is such a nice touch. I also love the shape of the frame, totally classy.
I have to say that this is really one pretty cake. Very original in it's own way. Keep it up.
I LOVE this cake! The little things you mentioned aren't EVEN noticeable! If you hadn't pointed it out, I never would have noticed it! It's so ADORABLE! Hello Kitty is spot on! Ok, about the flat head. LOL! Is there a reason why you dried her laying down? Have you tried letting the figurine dry AS IS? If you don't want to dry the head on the body, you can stick a toothpick at the bottom of the head & let it dry standing up on styorfoam? Just an idea? Let me know! Wonderful cake! Great job! :)
Thanks Laura! That means SOOOO much coming from you!
About the figures.. you know i guess its just one of those things that something happened to me once and so I changed how i did things forever. Once I let something dry sitting up and it sunk/ drooped on me so I never did that again!
But, i guess i should just try it again maybe it was just that the GP was too soft or something... Thanks again and I will let you know!
