  • I am God. Prove me wrong.

  • Imagine if a man was transported from a hundreds years ago into your living room, he stands up in the corner and see this box that seems to have a bunch of persons in it, now you're not home so he is left with this mystery to figure out for himself, he asks "what is it?" "what's it purpose?" "how did it got here?" with some arrogance and ignorance you get religion.

  • that is so true. the reason why there are atheist is because there are peopl who just want to do wht they want with no consequences...... so disagree if you want but just remember that it is your choice that you disagree. your choice

  • I cant believe so many are dogging this guys statement. What s so hard about it? If you have faith in God he will manifest himself to you. Hes not saying 'if you have faith you will believe". Are people really this dense or just afraid to acknowledge what i he is saying? I think maybe its a cop out just to poke fun instead of consider the point made.

  • @imbiased You are so exactly right! What he is talking about isnt "cool" to the world and everyone has their own ego to worry about and cant think for themselves so no one just stops to consider his point and just take a chance on God.

  • "Push the button, it's called repentance and faith"

    LOL!!!

That's the same as saying if you believe in pokemon you believe in pokemon because faith is having belief in something for which there's no evidence.

Having faith in something won't make it real.

It may feel real because humans have evolved a grand thing called the prefrontal cortex.

  • @pokeshmon What does the prefrontal cortex do?

  • I unplugged that tv and threw it away years ago, its was only playing crap, and wanted my money.

  • Ray never actually discusses anything, he argues from the Bible, and preaches at people.

  • What has happened to this world? People have became to be so wrapped up on logic till they actually believe there is no God....hears a good answer if there is a God or not...ask Him is He real (be honest in asking)...there's nothing wrong with asking a simple question.

  • @LMcKinn79 Funny. I tried that a few years ago. Got no response. Maybe I should send God a text. You got his number?

  • @ HipRockInc...Actually it is funny, because I do have His number...If u don't have it by now sweetheart, I hope you will get it soon...lol Much luv ;-*

  • I mean come ON... that argument with the television only works for the ignorant. I don't know ANYone in my life, religious or non-religious that would fall for that askew "logic".

  • Logic, they need to understand Logic. They will never understand Science until they get Logic.

  • wait a second, all i have to do to go to heaven is be convinced that jesus is god and he died for me?

    awesome! christians, convince away!!

  • 100yrs ago they had radio, i would explain to the man its a way of sending pictures and sound over the air. bad example

  • @bw2182 lol, he meant a different type of 100 years, you know, the bible can change what a year equals anytime it wants.

  • what about people who have given god a try. they pushed the button. but surprise no image projected on the t.v screen.,did they press the wrong button? ok well what about people who pressed the button, thought they saw the image on the set, tried for a few years, then decided that was just them being fooled. what really is happening is people want god so much that they create a false image of him on the t.v screen. they know the image is fake but they are content w/ it and lie to others about it

  • Ray is silly. He says that the powerbutton is faith and repentance. Let's go back to the tv Analogy. If you tell the man "you just have to have faith that a man is in there reading the news" of course he wouldn't believe it. We know tv's work because we can study and demonstrate how the electricals work, we can detect, measure and analyse the tv signal. We cannot do this with god.

  • All of ray's arguments and comments are materialistic, If god is eternal these arguments are already void beacuse any material cannot be proven to be eternal, can they? I'm interested in any responses, peace

  • I pushed the button Ray.......nothing happened.

  • Brain wash! Thats all they have? look at thier faces, Thier selling used cars and they know it! Shame on you guys. SHAME!

  • to add to my last comment, ray's thought process really is creative and metaphorically driven in a rather fantastic way. i would prefer that his conclusions were not what they are, but the nature by which he arrives at those conclusions is a powerful indicator of why he believes in god. the bible and the ideas surrounding "god" have the capability to be addictive to a writer. being a writer myself, i empathize with ray's ideas, though my own certainly conflict with them in every important way.

  • i don't believe in any god, but i think the analogy ray uses here is really interesting. a false analogy, but it was definitely creative and thoughtful. i can see how he would be a successful writer

  • what about FORMER christians like myself I have pushed the button and it meant nothing to me

  • A guy 100 years ago would understand the Miracle of Mr Marconi's wireless had already happened.

  • The only button you're pushing Ray, is the button of delusion that resides inside your own brainwashed mind

  • What a nut job. Difference is, I can see the television working. I can see it and hear it. If that person from the past doesn't believe how a t.v works I can provide access to the proof of how it works. This nut is telling us we need to just be sheep and accept what is being told to us without evidence.

    His comparison is terrible.

  • @Hulkamania4eva He is not a nut job. Nut jobs can be helped.

  • Ray is a moron, the point is you can explain to the time traveler exactly how the television works and could even give hime the tools and knowledge so that he can build his own.

Not even his God can show the workings and reasoning behind the faith/forgivness pact Christians have going on.

The whole thing from Adam & Eve through Noah's flood & the story of Lot up to the dubious and contradictotry accounts of the gospels is littered with holes that cannot be reasonably explained.

  • Seriously, I love, adore my Savior Jesus Christ. Because He died for me. Don't be upset. This is my belief respect it. If u don't understand, let it go. I am firm in my faith to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

  • @howerut Why are u so upset about my belief in God. You believe in a Poof and I believe in God they Creator of heaven and earth. I did not come to God because of fear. I came to God because I understood the message of Salvation. And His love for me. Simple. You my friend have mental issues to believe in the Poof theory. Come on be serious.

  • @Godbtheglory1 I'm sorry what? what do you mean by the "poof" theory? I trust physical evidence to show em the truth. I call it 'proof'. Logic is its accomplice. You can believe what you want, its just that I feel I should point out your folly. Its pretty clear to the unindoctrinated that god is a myth just like Thor and Zeus. It kinda baffles me why people believe in him given how clear it is to me that he is clearly no more real than garden faeries.

  • @howerut Big Bang Theory - What About God?Any discussion of the Big Bang theory would be incomplete without asking the question, what about God?This is b/c cosmogony (the study of the origin of the universe) is an area where science and theology meet.Creation was a supernatural event. That is, it took place outside of the natural realm. This fact begs the question:is there anything else which exists outside of the natural realm? Specifically,is there a master Architect out there?

  • @howerut We know that this universe had a beginning. Was God the "First Cause"? We won't attempt to ans that question in this short article. We ask the quest Job 38: 31-32, Isaiah 40:26,Palms 19:1-4,Roman 10:17-18, Luke 21:25 and rev.12:1-5 How can nothing come our of something.

  • @howerut The existence of God can be proven if you seek his existence. He has shown Himself to me an I saw Him. Not with my eyes but with my heart. And you know its the Almighty God b/c its the strongest feeling you ever will feel. ITS UNEXPLAINABLE b/c it's supernatural and its something each and every person has to see for themselves. U cant learn to see Him nor can anyone announce his presents in u. God reviles Himself to those who seek with all their hearts and thats when He shows up.

  • @Godbtheglory1 It was this small because there was no space or time for it to occupy, The pressure of this infinitely small object caused it to explode and so space expanded and time (as we know it) began. There are numerous theories as to how this object came to the spot that it was. The two I know of are that it was the contraction of the universe that existed before ours, and the idea that it was the singularity caused by a black hole in a separate universe. God has no place in this theory.

  • @howerut And so u think, God has no place in this. The Universe Is His Glory and the world is His foot stool. Numerous theories? What was that a universe that existed before ours? You see the problem ppl have is not comprehending that God was always there. What was that again the Idea that it was singularity caused by a black hole! Interesting yet u demand prove from my us about our God. The Creator of Heaven, Earth and Man.

  • @Godbtheglory1 well you claim to know it was your god with no proof other than a book written by men. We come to this conclusion based on an intimate knowledge of physics and the workings of the universe. It is the most plausible explanation we have so far. It may be wrong, and if it is , great we will have a better understanding of the universe. Until then it is as true as anything supposed about the beginnings of the universe will ever be.

  • @howerut The Universe is His Glory. It is evident tht u have no spiritual insight. This does not even warrant a response.

  • @Godbtheglory1 Is spiritual insight even a thing? I don't think so. Spirituality isn't really a thing, it's just something that was made up to justify absurd fringe sects of Christianity and hippies practising a hodgepodge of different religions. The latter then the former. Maybe you could try arguing with what we know instead of bringing spirituality into it. You ahve not established to me yet that there is such a thing as a spiritual aspect to things.

  • @howerut Maybe you don't know. But I do. I have not established to you. You! Have a good day.

  • @Godbtheglory1 Hehe, does that mean I win?

  • @howerut This battle has already been won and in a little while longer the war will be won. So, why do you Hehe. Your not a winner. Don't ever forget, THE UNIVERSE IS HIS GLORY. AND THE WORLD/MAN IS HIS CREATION.

  • @Godbtheglory1 I think that is incredibly small minded. the greatness of the universe far outweighs the glory of man. God has his standards wrong if he thinks man is a greater creation than the universe as a whole. Have you seen those things? They are beautiful and amazing. In comparison man is ugly and horrible. I look out into the universe and it is obvious to me that a humanity focused god just does not exist.

  • @Godbtheglory1 If god can be eternal, why cant matter and energy have existed eternally? It can exist eternally by scientific laws and does, it cannot be created or destroyed. We know this so it must have been around forever. Your god kinda breaks this rule by saying "poof" and everything appears. over an unnecessary 6 days of course.

  • @howerut A believer is simply any person who has put their faith in Jesus Christ. If u are a believer, according to Mark 16:15 signs will follow u."I'm the Lord who heals u"That's pretty clear isn't it?King David state it just as clearly in Psalm 103. Don't be scared to open the bible and read it.God doesn't need to ans to non-believers or anyone for that matter. He is the Creator Of Heaven and Earth. If we don't except Jesus Christ as our Personal Savior.

  • @Godbtheglory1 please don't quote scripture, the bible is not admissible as evidence.

The big bang theory or "poof" theory does not require a god. You have a fundamental misunderstanding of it.

There is no question about 'where does god fit into this?" he doesn't fit, that's probably one of the reasons I do not believe in a god. In the beginning of the universe as we know it all of the matter and energy was contained in a space that is the smallest it could possibly be.

  • @howerut,

I agree with you, that from your YOUR PERSPECTIVE that I may appear to look "pretty silly" to QUOTE YOU, but I like I said to you on my previous note "the UNREGENERATE man CANNOT receive the things of The Spirit of GOD because they are FOOLISHNESS unto him, NEITHER can they know them BECAUSE they are spiritually discerned" - 1 Corin 2:14. Presently, for His Sovereign Grace GOD has CHOSEN NOT to reveal Himself unto you, however your still accountable for your unbelief.

  • @forhisglory700 God bless you. I read ur comment and there good.

  • howerut - The idea that the "unregenerate" man can somehow "find" GOD through his own means is an IMPOSSIBILITY. You or I of our own accord CANNOT come to GOD, apart from His Grace. NO man desires to seek after GOD due to our BONDAGE TO SIN. Men hate GOD (as proven by you) & will NOT have Him to "Rule" over them. GOD leaves whom He WILLS to remain DEAD in their sin & to others He reveals Himself as The Almighty! Read The Bible.

  • @forhisglory700 I have read the bible, It doesn't really help my lack of faith honestly. It just makes god look like a pretty not nice kind of guy. I don't believe in him honestly and neither should you. I agree, it is impossible for a man to find god. I'm glad we agree. I guess for different reasons though. As you actually believe he exists. hehe you're pretty silly.

  • @siliconsannyasin

If you quoted Swami Vivekananda accurately, it would seem to me that he too, like so many others have failed to recognize the deceitful condition of his own heart because it has been hidden from him due to his own sin. Men ARE EVIL, and the present world as well as the past world support this fact, however men continue to believe THE LIE that somehow their is a spark of goodness from WITHIN. This is the worst kind of deception that faces man - THEIR SIN. Men are Sinners!

  • @forhisglory700 The irony is that it is a self deceit thinking there is a god who cares about you. If there is a god I doubt he cares about humans any more than he cares about the 10,000 species he let us make extinct. I definitely don't think he cares what each individual one of us is thinking or doing. Can I ask you, where is heaven? where is hell? where is your god? other than fear and brainwashing, what makes you believe in your cruel malevolent god?

  • I appreciate Ray Comfort's analogy, although I do not agree with the point where he says "the challenge" for fallen humanity "is to push the button". Fallen humanity [apart from the Sovereign Grace of GOD] does NOT even realize the depraved condition that they find themselves in, so they have NO HOPE of even determining that their is a button.

A classic example of this is "diamondlass88" note of 2 days ago says: "what effing button?!?"

Man "of himself" CANNOT come to faith WITHOUT GOD!

  • @forhisglory700

You've defined 'depravity' to subsume the entirety of the race; what argument can be given against idiosyncratic philologies?

Swami Vivekananda said, "The worst lie that you ever tell yourself is that you were born a sinner or a wicked man." There is no 'state of depravity' and no 'button.'

As Paul said in Eph. 4.,, 'faith is not of ourselves, it is a gift from God,' it therefore follows that 'man cannot come to God' without being 'drawn' from without himself, Jh. 6:44

  • @siliconsannyasin true you cannot come to God on your own, you must be drawn. I guess Ray was saying if you call out to God and of course we all dont know who already is being drawn to God and will be ready to repent and recieve Christ as his savior at that moment

  • @siliconsannyasin lol whats funny is eph4 contradicts itself because i had "faith" for years "drawing" from within myself and what came out of it? nothing but stress irratation and nothing making sense but when that happend alls i did was pray and had faith? still nothing would happen i never was still not and never asked for materlistic things from "god" nvm talking christanity is a joke no one ever listens anyway and plus even christains dont know where exactly they are going after they die

  • ohh jeeeez, what effing button?!?

  • A believer is simply any person who has put their faith in Jesus Christ. If u are a believer, according to Mark 16:15 signs will follow u."I'm the Lord who heals u"That's pretty clear isn't it?King David state it just as clearly in Psalm 103. • @Godbtheglory1 Can I ask regarding where you talk about feeling gods presence. What if you're lying to yourself? which seems quite likely. You probably would not have an inkling if you were. When you die and you meet Allah/Thor/Zeus/Lord Brahma in heaven, won't you feel a fool? Or even when you die and there is no heaven. How foolish it seems to me to presume yourself worthy of a deity's grace. To think that a god would care about an individual is nothing but arrogance on the part of Christians.

  • @howerut #1 This presence is real. I never experience anything like it until I accepted Christ into my life. #2 I am not lying to myself I know the difference. I am in my right state of mind. I am very sure in doubt whatsoever. #3 The only one I'm meeting in Heaven is my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. No else died on the cross for me. #4 There is a Heaven otherwise, Jesus Christ would not have mentioned it. He said I go to prepare a place. #5 I am not worthy of anything it is through His Mercy

  • @howerut # 6 When I die, I'm going to heaven. You unfortunately have no idea what u are dialoging about. You still put ur trust and believe in man or a statue. Allah/Thor/Zeus/lord Brahma.# 7 I will take my chances with God Creator of Heaven and Earth. Then to believe in anything else or contrary to the word of God. There is a Heaven. If you read the bk of Proverbs it speaks more about u being the fool than I.

  • @Godbtheglory1 I would hardly take what the bible says seriously. And you're delusional if you think it is impossible you are deluding yourself. We are all capable of it without even noticing. I mean look at Muslims, they believe just as strongly as you do yet clearly their god is false. Look at Christians they believe in a magical sky daddy who gave them their blessed vestigial tales in his perfect creation. If the bible was written by god, he is the most epic troll ever.

  • @howerut That's ur opinion. I have my own personal relationship with God. I live my faith and is the best decision I have made in my life. I'm not here to convince anyone of my God. However, I am here to testify that he is real in my life. whether u believe it not. I'm talking about me and God. The bible says that a God draws all men to Him. ANd he will reveal himself to who he wants to. It doesn't matter to me what u think. or however many scriptures u miss quote.

  • @Godbtheglory1 It's hardly an opinion, Since thee is insufficient admissible evidence for the existence of god and people's belief in god generally comes down to fear or indoctrination (brainwashing). It is pretty much a fact that the Christian god is just a fairy tale. You don't seem to understand that you are probably mentally ill, the same level of mentally ill as those who believe Elvis is still alive and whom hunt the yeti.

  • It takes courage to be a Christian.

  • very well said. Kirk Cameron thank you for this valuable information. God bless you and ur Minister.

  • @psyjunta

I'm not a retard. Saying that just makes you sound rude. To believe there is no creator doesn't make sense. Evolution when you think about it, creates all these things, and they are, believe me, wonderful, amazing, beautiful things. How does it do it though? It doesn't make sense to say it just does it without having some sort of plan to set it out. The design of the human body or a bird or anything natural on Earth is too complex for to not believe that there is a creative side.

  • @psyjunta

Mythology fairytale Ahh shut up. I'm not a bible reader really, I just look around at nature and that's all I need to believe in God.

  • @1Thompsonmusic That was really genuine honesty. God bless you. And ur absolutely right..

  • Look, those who still don't get it. If God wouldn't exist then there would be no debate about Him, the Bible would not have gone through 2,000 years with existence. Ray Comfort is a smart man, and his analogy was a great one. Jesus did everything for you, now its ur turn. People say that there is no God becasue they don't want to obey Him, and humble themselves. Like Ray said, its your choice to press the button, but know that this decision will depend on where you will spend your eternity.

  • @benji1456able I personally say there's no God in terms of how we comprehend it. There may be a God but I highly doubt anyone on earth knows EXACTLY who it is. The chances of that are 0.01% on a universal scale. I do not denounce God and personally I would RATHER be comforted by the warm feeling of a supernatural all loving being. But evidence has pointed me another direction.

  • It is simply and very understandible said by Ray that God did everything for you. Now its your choice if you want to press the button or not. Jesus excepts everyone who comes to him, as it is said in the Bible, and he will not force you to do it. It is you choice where you will spend your eternity. Jesus is the only way to heaven.

  • so if i want god, i dont want god, according to a book? WTF?! i cant comprehend rays stupidity.

  • @Retarrrrrdo your mind is already made up so why try to open it up for real thought ?

  • so in order to become a believer, you already have to be a believer. bullshit

  • Let me see if I understand this... Ray is saying that if you would just believe you would be a believer.

  • @TheSandan What he's saying is that if you would repent, proclaim Christ as your savior and follow God's scripture, you'll become a believer in what it says, meaning that Bible will prove on it's own that it's truth. Simple but difficult to understand.

  • @TheSandan noooo...

he said repent and have faith in Jesus

  • @TheSandan

Not at all; He is saying if you'll just give God a try (recognize your sins, repent of your sins and accept Jesus payment for your sins and turn away from sin) and believe for just a week, and see the change that occurs inside of you, you feel and act different. You realize things you thought before couldn't be correct and it was your sin that made you wish those things were true.

He's saying you know how to repent, you just choose not to because that would mean you sinned.

  • The button that Ray is implying that you push is the OFF button for the thinking part of your brain. If that isn't the button, then I can't imagine what else could make an otherwise sane person believe in his nonsense.

  • Push the button and trick yourself into believing there is something that was made up by man to please his own lonely ego.

  • @ChiTown7721 through Adam sin and death entered the world; but through Jesus Christ we receive life.

  • @ChiTown7721 Sin means with out and we are all born in and our with out god. We cant have gods help with out him. Jesus made it possible for god to enter the world. I am not with out god for he is with me. There for I receive his help. If you want god to enter your life you must repent from your sins. This is pretty much the short answer we are all with out him and we need to become with him.

  • @machinedean100 I have a couple of questions for you. The first one is does god help people? When people say that god helped them in some way, that god did this or that for me, do you believe that to be true?

  • @ChiTown7721 there is only a few believers I talk to about god and what he does in my life or there life. Do I take everything everyone says seriously no;but if i know and trust the person then I believe what they say.Sometimes god does some pretty cool things that are undeniable done by him. Most of the time these events can only be decernable by your self. sometimes every one can see it.

  • @ChiTown7721 yes god helps people. ask you shall receive. seek you shall find. god has helped me a lot in my life. I would not be alive with out him.

  • @machinedean100 Well, here's my problem. I'm a teacher, and a student of mine, a 10 year-old girl, was raped by her own uncle. So where was god when she needed him? Why didn't god help her out? Are some people more special in the eyes of god than others? After all, god is all-knowing, all-seeing, and all-powerful. So, he knew it was going to happen, he saw it happen, and he had the power to stop it from happening, but he didn't. Why?

  • @ChiTown7721 There is no man on this world that is good. God sees all our sins including yours. if god were to stop anything or stop anyone he would have do it to every one. God is more concerned with eliminating sin at its root which is in the heart. If a man looks at a women and has the idea of raping here he has raped here in his heart. How can god stop this? If god is to stop this he must first remove it from the heart.

  • @ChiTown7721 We are all guilty of sin. What would you rather be on the world? Gods mercy for all or his wrath. We are all equal in gods eyes. you are just as guilty of lieing or stealing just as that man is guilty of rape. If we want things like this to change first our hearts must change. we must love what is right an seek justice, but at the same time we must be all understanding and merciful. For if we have been forgiven we must forgive.

  • @machinedean100 You say this as though lying and stealing are sins that are equivalent to raping a child. So a person who steals a pack of gum is just as bad as somebody who rapes a child?

So god helps people out, but he doesn't help prevent a 1o year-old girl form being raped? Sorry, but this doesn't add up. Morally, I could not sit there and watch that happen to a child knowing I have the power to stop it, and not do anything. I'd rather be dead.

  • @ChiTown7721 rape is equal to theft sorry and you must not have read everything i said. Also, how can god help you if you reject his help. How can there be good in the world if you reject he who is good; but maybe it is as ray said you have an alteiary motive. You don't want gods help and you don't want gods justice. I find hard to believe that you even care about this girl or what happened to her.

  • @ChiTown7721 I think that you are useing what happened to her as a straw man to say that god is evil or does not exist. In an attempt to refute the good almighty god. Your question apparently had no good attentions because you have denied the right and logical answer. You sir are pathetic to use a girl being raped as a straw man for your own selfish ambition to be right.

  • @machinedean100 This isn't about me wanting to be right about anything. It is a question I have asked myself over and over again, to which I cannot come to a logical answer. If you're pissed and feel like I set you up, that was not my intention. However, if you're going to go about preaching that god is almighty and helps people out and then can't answer this question, then you are the one who is pathetic. It's not a straw man, it's an honest question, and you can't answer it.

  • @ChiTown7721 I did answer it. Sin begins in the heart. sin was there from the beginning. How could god stop it. His only option would be to destroy us all. Including the ten year old girl.

  • ray says you can manifest god.......in ur mind. revolutionary idea there ray.

  • I suspect these two guy's know that they're so wrong but they can't go back now. they're in too deep and will LOOK LIKE IDIOTS LOLZ

  • You guys don't get it, I'm sure he knows what a TV is. He's using an analogy. Even real scientist use it to teach their pupils. I know it's a strange concept but people can explain one thing by comparing it to another to make it more easy for the listener to comprehend. Does not mean you have to agree with it. But what I'm reading makes me think there are many people here who don't get the simple concept of analogy. Or maybe you just want to discrete the speaker to inflate your egos?

  • @TheSuperWanderer I can't speak for anyone else here obviously, but as for myself: I do understand the concept of an analogy. I also understand that Mr.Comfort was using an analogy to illustrate a point; however, his analogy is false, in that the conditions of his analogy are not the same as the conditions of the point he wishes to illustrate using that analogy.

  • @TheSuperWanderer The conditions of his analogy are reliant upon quantifiable phenomena (radio transmission, electricity, phosphor cells, etc.) These are not based on feelings or ambiguous perceptions which can be easily molded (on a subconscious level) to suit our presuppositions, they are based on completely objective measurements of data.

  • @TheSuperWanderer @k1llk1ngph30n1x He is comparing disbelief of invisible phenomena that *are both measurable and have been measured* to feelings and ambiguous perceptions. In this case, those feelings happen to include the belief that a god exists (in his case the God of the Bible). Feelings are not the same as measurements of data, by definition they are not objective at all. In a nutshell he is comparing apples to oranges.

  • @k1llk1ngph30n1x Did you ever try pushing the button. The man gave you a analogy. He explained something you couldn't understand in laymen terms. By definition you are not a professional in the area. So, how would you be capable of understanding it in its literal sense. Also in the beginning of the analogy the person he referred to didn't believe in these things; but these invisible phenomena do exist.

  • @machinedean100 I'm not sure in what I wasn't explicitly clear in my explanation of why this analogy doesn't work. I answered the point you refer to in your last sentence there "the person he referred to didn't believe in these things; but these invisible phenomena do exist." My answer to that starts with "If one happens to be an agnostic", ctrl+f and search for that. Lastly, if you're referring to the feeling of God as something I cannot understand by definition, you'd be wrong.

  • @k1llk1ngph30n1x also, I have never seen children who were raised christian actually stay christian. I my self was not raised christian, but I am now one. this whole cultural thing does not apply to Christianity; because there are Christians all over the world.

  • @machinedean100 Yes they are. But, if Christianity is present then it IS part of the local culture.

  • @machinedean100 Even though the analogy doesn't work, I'll answer you. Yes, I have pushed the button, I know what it feels like to "know" God. I attended a Pentecostal church from roughly 3 years old to only a few years ago. Environments like that break you down emotionally, and use the brains ability to trick itself into feeling absolutely anything in order to fit in. That power is amplified when used against a child who doesn't know enough to doubt the majority.

  • @machinedean100 As far as a solitary experience goes, the brain will do the same backflips to find a way out of deep depression or strife. It looks for subconscious archetypes inherited from the culture it resides in. You might say the subconcious mind says 'oh yeah theres supposed to be this all powerful God thing out there somewhere that can magically make me feel better, i need to induce the feeling of an awe-inspiring presence.'

  • @machinedean100 The same cultural coloring occurs but in the opposite direction when you see God in nature. The perfectly balanced, blossoming, 'thing-in-itself' qualities of the natural world are truly awe-inspiring. But our brains have a deep seated need to label everything it comes into contact with, no matter how abstract it is. 'oh yeah theres supposed to be this all powerful God thing out there somewhere that created everything, so i can label this feeling of awe "God".'

  • @k1llk1ngph30n1x That's like saying a crack head can make him self high off crack with out smoking it. Why do you guys make things so simple so complicated? You can see that a crack head with out crack will seek it out. A crack will do what ever it takes to get it.

  • @k1llk1ngph30n1x You have been in and felt the presence of the holy spirit and you say his analogy has no basis. Then you claim it as an hallucination. See, feeling like this cant be felt with out some kind of chemical inducing it. Now you have to prove how this could be a hallucination and what could have caused.

  • @machinedean100 I just did prove how it could be a hallucination and what could cause it.

  • @machinedean100 His analogy has no basis *because* he's comparing an objective reality to a subjective hallucination. Yes chemicals are involved in hallucinations, yes chemicals are real, but that doesn't mean an illusion cause by a particular electrochemical brain state is real.

  • @k1llk1ngph30n1x For me Christianity did not come in the form of peer pressure in fact just the opposite.I had to throw away my friends to become. I guess you could say i was in a depressed state and indeed in mental crisis; but god is what caused it. In fact becoming a christian made it all twice as bad. My family rejected my friends hated me. There was no one for me to turn to. all i had was my friend Anthony who had also become a christian and was experiencing the same things i was.

  • @k1llk1ngph30n1x Now when i was about 14, 15 I had a dream that was as real as reality itself. In this dream the angel of death passed by my house and then the stars fell from the sky. Keep in mind I have never read the bible and i had no idea what this dream meant. I harbored this dream and kept it secret. story short later i got saved and i came to find stars falling from the sky were in revelation. So, what do you think hallucination what?

  • @k1llk1ngph30n1x i will also tell what I did not see. i will see and so will you.

  • @k1llk1ngph30n1x also lets look at Kirk what did he have to gain by becoming a christian. was a healing from some great depression was it money riches. No it wasn't . it was the fear of god. when he pushed the button and god revealed himself to him. He changed, now you say you have pushed the button; but I don't think you have. I have you called on the name of god repented and turned form your sins. I think not. I can see that you have enmity and our lieing.

  • @machinedean100 I'm sorry but you're clearly done, you're appealing to emotion now, that is an implicit admission that you have nowhere to go. And you've just proven everything I've been saying. Dreams are not reality or proof of anything. How dare you accuse me of lieing and hostility, I've had enough of these insults. I've been nothing but nice to you and I've given you information that you can look up and see they aren't lies.

  • @machinedean100 If you meant emnity to God, wrong, I came to be an atheist through reason.

  • @k1llk1ngph30n1x why am I always appealing to someones emotions as if I am trying to brain rape people. What do i have to gain by that. If you come to god and are saved I am happy. If you fall away and are destroyed I am happy. all things work to gods good pleasure. if he is pleased I am pleased. That is the only reason I do this. Other wise i could careless if you guys believe in the ancient monkey people and there magic mutations; or if you believe in Jesus Christ.

  • @k1llk1ngph30n1x sorry if i offended you in anyway. I do wish the best for you this is really my one of my first time sharing my faith with someone. I apologize!

  • @machinedean100 You haven't offended, but I appreciate that, so thanks :) I said "how dare you" before just to prove a point, I wasn't personally offended. I haven't replied to your previous comment because I haven't had time (school and all) to really look at it and explain how it is you made an appeal to emotion, it takes time to construct a logical argument you know :P And of course I wish the best for you as well.

  • @k1llk1ngph30n1x Aw ty :D

  • @TheSuperWanderer If one happens to be an agnostic theist, then the claim is that God will never be quantifiable on our terms because we are such lesser beings. If that is true, then his analogy will always be false because we do not posses knowledge of him now, nor will we ever. His analogy will only be true under *both* of the following two conditions:

    1. Gnostics are correct (God is knowable or objectively measurable)

    2. We find some way to measure God from a standpoint of objective data

  • @TheSuperWanderer Shitty analogies exist. And that was a pretty shitty analogy.

  • @TheSuperWanderer No, from what I understand from his remarks is that this guy from past time needed an EXPLANATION on how the tv worked. He began giving an explanation that had reliable sources to prove its validity. BAD analogy to use when talking about an invisible God that has NO explanation other than a baseless holy book that can't be accurately accounted for by more than ONE faith based system(religion) at a time.

  • @TheSuperWanderer You missed the point.

  • That is not evidence that is FAITH! His point is that if you use your brain you will never see god but if you just shut that out and beleive blindly against all evidence he will reveal himself. Awesome. Thanks for clearing that up mate.

  • It is trully pathetic that a man should waste his life arguing this kind of rubbish with no evidence and yet absolute (seemingly) conviction. It is a sad indictment of the world that gullible people are taken in by it!

  • I vaguely remember in Ray's opening statements that him and Kirk would prove God's existence without using the word "faith." But then he says you have to have faith to know he exists.. huh?

  • ray is using an argument based on ignorance, where in the bible is the electron?

  • yes... tv must seem like magic, to people like ray comfort...

  • Worst analogy ever.

  • banging ur head on the ground and calling the resulting brain damage your god.. its the best tweedly dumb and tweedle dumber will ever get...

  • today's religion is tomorrow's mythology

  • Yes, Ray, it's my fault that I can't have complete faith in your magical fantastic god construct. Your god would have revealed himself to me except that I wasn't praying hard enough, or I didn't give a full 10% of my gross income in the collection plate. And now, I'm choosing not to accept him or press the button because I like being the arrogant, self-centered center of my world.

Something magical does happen when you press the button. The magic of suggestion and self-delusion switches on.

  • Where is that physical proof that god exists you promised at the beginning of this discussion?

  • wow, real inspirational ray, really...too bad it just doesnt work that way...

  • How incredibly embarrassing for humanity that we need to converse about fairytale boogiemen

  • @699backstab

Wow I feel so much more embarrassed for you.

You just made humanity God. Sad. Repent

  • @699backstab

I would hardly call the supreme being who created everything in the Universe a fairytale boogieman. I know what I'd like to call you though...

  • @1Thompsonmusic You can call me what you like. To do otherwise is cowardly..which is synonymous with religion. Your god concept can go fuck itself for raping and murdering my species :) Your god is a coward because I challenge it to come down here where I will take out of his anus what his catholic priests have taken out of all those children they raped. Nice piece of trolling kid.. AHAHA

  • @1Thompsonmusic These ppl because they do not understand begin to curse and become verbally abusive. And the fact that we remain strong in our faith angers them even more. Keep up the good fight of faith. God bless you.

  • I like how you repeatedly take the time in these debates to pull out the big guns. These things Atheists really have no answer to.

The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord lift up the light of his countenance toward you and grant you peace.

  • 1:40 "But perhaps you have an ulterior motive" - or, Ray, perhaps we have a brain.

  • Ray...we have television because of "SCIENCE"!..We have science because a few persons decided to stay home from church on Sundays and decided there must be a better way to do or something or something that can really explain the universe.

  • “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ ” Psalms 14:1

  • @SpcMedia21 The real fools are the ones who believe without evidence or logical probability.

  • @SpcMedia21 so your proving me right.

  • Did anyone every correct them on the crocoduck mistake?

  • According to Christians, God loves us very very much. Yet dispite this tremendous he refuses to have anything to do with us. His own representatives on Earth, the Christian church, are divided and disorganized. The irony is, many of these Christian denominations hate each other. LOL....God won't even help them, his own flock. Seems to me that either God doesn't exist or he actually hates humanity.

  • @nosajj12345 The Bible does teach that if a Christian hates another Christian, the love of God is not in him. Judgment comes to the house of God first, and we do have alot to answer to God for, but that doesn't negate the fact that so does everyone else.

  • Any highly advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. So for a man to travel 100 years into our time, would see it as impossible.

  • I bet if I took Leonardo Da Vinci as the "ignorant man" I bet $10000 he'd figure it was electric signals in time.

  • i used to be extremely religious, god never appeared to me

  • @144mtl441 Being religious does not mean you are saved by the blood of Jesus.

    Push the button!

    Jesus loves you!!!

  • Did Ray just make the argument that for Godhood it is sufficient to be technologically advanced or knowledgeable compared to other primitive beings? HAIL XENU!

  • As is typical with any religious debate they either go back to quoting the bible or lecturing you about accepting God.

  • @davenavarroforpm - Aetheism is the easy way for sure, it's convenient. All this talk of God and salvation, who wants to deal with that... it just sounds crazy. This is exactly what I always thought, believed it with such conviction that I was willing to "push play" just to prove the Christians wrong, beat them at there own game. So I asked God to make himself known to me... didn't expect anything to happen, was sure nothing could happen. I WAS WRONG. It will change you and you will have faith.

  • @LesPaulPlayer59 You're insane. God NEVER talked to me and I was baptised and raised a protestant.

  • @davenavarroforpm The fact that you have never experienced God does not prove that LesPaulPlayer59 is insane. So what if you were raised protestant and was baptized? That doesn't make you a Christian, friend. Being part of the church, the Bride of Christ, is to have faith in God. You are not saved by a water baptism, but by your faith and repentance of Yeshua, Jesus Christ. Baptism is suppose to be a reflection and profession of your belief and an important part of receiving the holy spirit.
