YESSS im one month post-op, and i was a HUGE chicken fanatic. and every time i have eaten chicken, its mad eme throw up! i was sooo upset, but im learning to deal with it!
Hi Amelia. My wife, Sue, had the surgery 5 weeks ago(41 pounds gone), and we really like watching you together because you're very inspiring. My wife and I were laughing so hard today at this because when you point over your left shoulder and say "nothing on the floor", your kitty goes sauntering by. We wish to ask you what do you take when you get upset tummy. Keep on truckin'!
I know that I will have to give up my favorite chicken, unless it is in chicken spaghetti, where the meat is tender. I can't have any KFC, unless it is super soft with the grilled version. I love coffee, and I know I won't be able to have much of that or even Raspberry Gingerale. My surgery is in 3 months. My metabolism is shot, and most of my teeth are missing, plus I have cataracts, all because of type II diabetes.
i found out that if you use a food processor, I have a cup size that retails for about $10 and grind the chicken up you have lot less trouble eating chicken. Eating it any other way it is very painful. Ground chicken still poses a problem.
I had the same problem after my gastric bypass. It was a year before I could eat chicken, and even now if it is too dry or not chewed REALLY well, I will throw it up. Best if eaten with something liquid like broth, or the really soft meat of chicken wings...Tolerated eggs ok. Good luck with GB....still the best thing I ever did, I don't regret ever!! Thanks Dr. Katsis, you are AWESOME!!!

you're stupid this doesnt apply to all ivr had gasyric bypass and i eat a whole bonless chicken breast with no problems ..i eat it all the time so go fuck off..
Good advice, thanks for sharing your experience with chicken. I am pre-op and of course chicken has always been the "good" meat, low fat/high protein. I'm really trying to get all the info I can before surgery, bad as well as good, and it's great to have some forewarning about things that might not be so tummy-friendly.
And Amelia, your videos are so great. You are a real sweetheart.
Newly post-ops sometimes have issues with chicken but further out you'll be fine :) I had a bit of a hard time with it getting stuck at first but by 6-7 weeks post-op I was having NO problems with it. :)
i am sorry to say i cant tolerate any meat i live on almonds.... and cheesy tots ,only made fresh off the broiler or they r rubbery and gross... maybe that is why i am underwieght , i get terrible dumping with everything:(
Chicken is probably the easiest meat for me to eat. I am so thankful because I love chicken!!!! I just made the best homemade chicken salad. I had heard that it could be a problem and was so worried but I don't have a problem with it.
That rocks! am jealous. I am putting up a video on my black beans and my chili soon. The black beans taste awesome with a fried egg in them. I wish I could have them that way, may try to see if I can keep it down with the beans. Beans are so soothing in my pouch, they never make me sick
Yeah, beans are great! I've shyed away from them because that's all I ate in the pureed form 2 weeks out and I got so tired of them! But your beans look awesome! I hope you can eat it with an egg in it. PS Moxy is so cute!
1st of all love the shirt!!! 2nd of all WOW thanks for the info, see things like that us pre op's really need to know, if ever you have more things to share with us please don't hesitate, it's pepes like you that are getting us pre op's through this...Your Awesome!!!!
Thanks for sharing this! I ate mostly chicken before surgery but now I cannot eat most chicken now. I love the ground chicken and its so much better than ground turkey. I also think it is even better than ground beef. Same problem with eggs, they sit in my stomach for hours and when I drink something it just all comes up. I have not tried the egg beaters though. Have a great day! Kellie
This is really good to know. Do you have the same problem with chicken salad? Especially the canned stuff that you can buy at the store? Thanks for the info!
Good point about chicken, that happens to me when I eat chicken breast but I love the little cans of chicken that looks like tuna. I can't still eat sliced turkey lunch meat, it hurts my stomach but the ground turkey works well for me in my white chili.

maybe you wish to try it as ground?...
I am a vegatarian, ... and I got problems with seitan ;)... so even veggies are not shielded from these jams at the exit of your first stomach!

Nuts are indeed a good substitute; they are gorged with protein, plus fiber and vit E... which is a fat soluble vitamine we need!

I'm ok with chicken and eggs. Each person is different post-op, strangely enough. You'd think the surgery would affect us all the same!

Hey Chris,
I can do chicken but not pork. I guess it just depends on the person, you know? So don't get too worried.

i too can do chicken, but not pork.
my surgeon lets us eat chicken, but at 6 months out since it's stringy and our tummies can't handle it yet.
