  • wow his touchdown point was pretty far down the runway.... hopefully he didn't end up going for a swim :P

  • Crabbin' like a mofo

  • My dad flies those back back then he flew the a330 and a340

  • I went from-> Canon lenses -> Gaming computers -> Car simulators -> Plane simulators and now THIS?!

  • That pilot is pretty fuckin' badass!!

  • Perfect crosswind landing at Kai Tak. Obviously some clueless people like custodiopsjr seem to think they know it all. Crosswind landing is one thing. Cross wind landing on a tight turn with the wind changing direction across the nose every second is comepltetly different. I suggest you go and spend 20 years flying in to this airport then come back and offer a comment.

  • 2006??!! is that a dc-10 or a 727

  • I hate that landing. Beyond of the 1,000 feet, without correct correction of the rudder and no aileron to the crosswind, 5 bank is enough. Result, terrible landing, No accident because it;s a Boeing 777.

  • the sound of the engines is orgasmic

  • I Can Do More Epic Than That Landing I am only 7

  • I didnt get to see this airport :( But it was sooo cool for the pilot to land there!

  • Wow, that was something else.

  • @tompa214 Haha your 13

  • Nice landing... only a skilled pilot could do that!:)

  • 69 people hit the dislike button by mistake...

  • Now I need to go find tompa214's comment. Right now I just need my body to just fucking hate tompa, now I got to know he exists. That cock sucking mother fucker.

  • damn he was almost perpendicular to the runway O_O

  • Its good they made a new airport otherwise my job as a pilot whould be gone :/

  • @manishrana51 here I am, sup?

  • No i w pizdu i wylądował ;D

  • is it danger to land while there is crosswind?

  • @lagflag That airport no longer operates, but it was Visual Approach, and in the midle of the city. So was real dangerous.

  • Okay guys, I admit I have been reaally immature now looking back at it. Idont really know what I was thinking, whatever. Umm but I sorta think some of you sorta overreacted because I actually just wanted to say that I landed there, traveling with my family from vietnam home to Sweden where I live. Anyway I thought it was kinda scary because when we landed from the other direction it actually felt like we were going to land on the water. So sorry for my misbehaveour. And my English ..

  • Great Pilot

  • Beautiful landing...

  • Great rudder and nose-wheel tiller skills.

  • 77777XYZ; stop spamming you bitch!

  • What is going to happen to the land that Kai Tak was on, now since its closed?

  • @AirlinePilotStuart Since Hong Kong is needing more space to their building probably its what will turn in. More and more buildings.

  • Perfect!

  • maximum reverse thrust please!

  • That brilliant crosswind landing is something only a skillful pilot can do,not autopilot.

  • @kutigoi Thats right skillful pilot is better than A.P

  • @kutigoi acutally he had some computer help....there are programs on the system that can assist in landing during crosswinds such as this. 60% computer 40% pilot

  • @kutigoi You are wrong man, you can't join airline as a pilot if you don't know how to do a crosswind landing, because crosswind is something that is quite common for pilots to encounter. Even the student pilots in my school, our very first solo flight landing was crosswind, that's right crosswind.

  • @kutigoi But I do have to agree if you say crosswind at kai tak, because the approach is one of the hardest approach in the world without the ILS (Instrument Landing System)

  • nice video just one question what type of 777 is it the 200 or the 300?

  • @4rcjwilliams 200. look at the length

  • @MrDavisomg You're retarded.

  • @MrDavisomg bro this is real-100%.I was there in 1998 and saw many of these landings. The guys taking this video are aviation enthusiasts. Many would wake up early with their cameras and stand around near the airport just to watch this..

  • @kutigoi he's trying to get a rise out of you. ever heard of a troll? perfect example of this guy.

  • @happyturtle18 thanks happy turtle.

  • @kutigoi dude i have lived in hong kong for 16 i am not a dumbass

  • @MrDavisomg yeah. You are retarded.

  • süper görüntüler :))

  • süper görüntüler :))

  • 0:55 - Pilot: Crap!

0:59 - Copilot: You ever gonna put this down?!

  • putain ! il a touché mi piste !!

  • the Capt. made it look like a single seater cessna landing. I bet the passengers had no idea how skillful their pilot was. I've seen small plans crab like that on landing but never a jumbo. holy cow.

  • Great spot - great video...

  • he's flared half way down the runway.. a bit risky

  • 67 people closed Kai Tak :(

  • 65 personer kan ikke dansk

  • 65 pessoas que estavam nessa aeronave não gostaram

  • how old that video is?

  • is it not possible to get the nose aligned straight down the runway before touch down. ive have seen some xwind landings where the aircraft is in a bank all the way to touch down and touches down on one wheel then onto the other

  • visit my channel

  • Airplane drift!

  • for cross winds, the landing gear wheels should be able to swivel a few degrees (in this case to the left) so they can be aligned with the motion of the aircraft on touchdown.

  • That's going to be me someday. The captain of a 777 ;)

  • @sexybeast619619619 Good Luck ;)

  • scary!!!

  • Wow that was a late touchdown

  • No more Kai Tak :(

  • that airport was so dangerouse it was closed down a few years ago.

  • @MSFlightVideos2 A few years ago? They closed it down more than ten years ago in 1998. And they closed it down because they opened a much bigger one elsewhere in the outskirts of the city. Get your facts right.

  • @gabrielleung: also because of the dangerouse approach

  • @gabrielleung calm down...

  • Almost ran off the runway!

  • The reason for no cross control technique is that you can drag an engine pod.

  • why didn't he/she use any crosswind technique? yes you can land boeing with crab but why would you want to do that?

  • I don't understand what the big deal is...did I miss something? the plane lands...and...???

  • @RichieEastside You would have to be or have family in the airline business(or just a pilot) to fully understand, its that airport runway and then the bad crosswinds ect. But the landing was great for the circumstances.

  • nose down then crosswind, extreme skills !

  • On My trip to Philippines I every year land in Hong Kong with Cathay pacific Boing 747- It is amazing and fascinating to land in Hong Kong

  • Late touchdown , Nice video :)

  • OMG that was a very late touchdown I wonder if he stopped the Aircraft on time :) good video

  • Late touchdown! The pilot must have flared the airplane.

  • @leozepplin and yet he was in the touchdown zone. And don't you always flare when landing? Hmmm....

  • jeez. for a plane landing video, there sure are a lot of angry people; make that a lot of angry people who can't spell.....

  • beautiful MD11 on the taxiway

  • wow Cathey Pacific has all the big aircrafts

  • tompa214 fuck off with your attitude, you're 13. by the age of 13 you should learn it's not socially acceptable to suck your dad in the parking lot.

ie, stop trying to pretend you're cool by swearing all the freaking time

  • @svehenen once again, why the fuck do you even care! Your not my f****ng dad!

  • @tompa214 like it would matter coming from your dad. here's a hint: swearing won't get you laid.

    also, you're*

  • @tompa214

I would think that wasting your time by responding is your own doing? It's just saddening to see a thirteen-year-old swearing this much...

Sir, I believe now is the time to listen and act your age.

  • @svehenen That paedophilic language buddy. I'm reporting you.

  • @SuperApparition a hero indeed

  • @svehenen not sure where the parking lot bit comes in but I lold regardless

  • @svehenen noted -.-

  • The more I look at these videos the more I realize these pilots are not being paid enough whatever it is they are being paid! If a doctor is responsible for 6-10 patients every day of his life, a pilot is responsible for hundreds.

  • Good landing , looks like a cross wind hit just before landing, phew ! Well done.

  • if iam not wrong i think the aircraft was too high before landing

  • holly cow!

  • he landed a bit far down the runway aye

  • I thought i was going to dock at the peer...

  • NICE VIDEO.......!!!!

  • If i'm not wrong the airport has been desingned by an Italian architect.

There was sea and the two airstrip are on an artifical island.

  • Waouwww

  • this is not croswind

    pelotudo!

    this is force landing

o como se diga aterrizaje forzoso

    forro

  • @ezeeb100 Look at the wind sock, you'll see that it's crosswind.

  • true, he held the flare just a tiny tiny tiny tiny bit too long, either that or he had a slightly high approach speed than normal, which IS normal since gusty days like that there can be a lot of wind shear and its safer to have a higher airspeed just incase.

  • great pilots for Cathay Pacific! amazing landing skills that save lives!

  • smart, lost at the end though

  • poor cathay pilots have 2 do this all day xD

  • He was late man! Like really, this is not an airport to land long.

  • Very nice video thanks for posting!

Nice slow turn to final, and beautiful soft landing!! B777 is a gorgeous aircraft!

  • Seems like quite scary :S but nice(:

  • I can't believe they still let people travel in aeroplanes. Bring back the horse and cart. Much safer and you can play with the horse afterwards.

  • @furq123

Wrong, planes are the safest type of transportation. 260X safer than cars.

  • @buybygb very true. It's really the safest. :) Far safer than riding on ocean liners.

  • @furq123

But you have to scoop the poop.

  • Kai Tak Airport closed in July 1998. I flew into Kai Tak (NWA 747-400) from Narita Japan at night in April 1991 and it was like landing in Times Square with all of the signs and lights on the tall buildings.

  • i swear i hate landing in crosswinds when i fly! like one time i went to London England and we landed Heathrow i thought i was gonna die! lol thankfully United Airlines has EXCELLENT PILOTS!

  • i want to be a pilot

  • Seems to be a popular camera angle for that airport.

  • looks as if the runway wasn't enough...

  • used up half of runway to align

  • i am concerned about the people who may of been made ill by flying and combined with poor eating and hydration whilst up there. Whenever i fly i never see most passengers drink enough fluid whlst onboard and im concerned for their health. Just think about being sat in a ppressurized cabin with air that weighs 1000kg alone. combined with the stress of cabin noise, dry air, possible exhaust fumes, increased uv exposure. people choose to ignore the health risks of flying due to the appeal of it

  • @norway115 Look it up. It is Approach 13. The pilot has to switch to manual control do a 47 deg visual right turn when it passed the "checkboard". The "Checkboard" is still there in Western Kowloon.

  • a beautiful croswind landing good pilot

  • @emanuelmarian89 actually, on a 777, its a good autopilot.

The human pilots only taxi the plane now.

  • @MrHobiecat That's not true...not one iota. Why are you making things up?

  • @emanuelmarian89 if u land there daily as a cathycaptain it turns to daily life ^^

  • @emanuelmarian89 i loved too

  • landed slightly more far down the runway there .... scary

  • i think that today the runway in Kai Tak is covered with grass and trees and stuff

  • @UEFALionelMessi the runway is no longer there, its just grass and stuff. they're talking about building a ocean liner terminal

  • good video

  • Awesome, simply awesom! Did you check in back in the days to experience an igs on rnw13 at first hand ....If soo, I salute you....with a touch of envy ;)

  • Why Did They Close This Airport?

  • Comment removed

  • Because it was a constant crosswind situation, not to mention the terrain issues. The ILS system was actually located on the checkerboard, and upon visual of the checkerboard, you made a HARD right turn to the runway. Below the apartment buildings. I used to fly in there twice a month for over a year for an British frieght company.

  • That is not the only reason it was closed. It was mainly closed because of the noise.

  • @aolambros It was shut because of the new airport

  • @kenersej

No, it was shut because of:

It was saturated and couldn't make any expansion.

Located in the middle of the city (300.000 population near by)

    Unacceptable noise level (120db)

Unable to operate from 23:30-5:30 due to the noise.

    Reconstruction of the old city.

Growing demand of HKG that a new airport must be bulit.

Last present to HK from British.

And then the new airport was open.

  • forgot dangerous approach (i think)

  • @TommyXKk

Not really so dangerous.. but maybe it can be.. for us but not for them:P

  • i am not sure if you can call it a "Last present to HK from British" considering it was HK's own money that was used to build the airport, not to mention that a British architect was appointed to design the airport.

  • because the landing was hard and ruff so that closed it RIP Kai Tak

  • l39pilot is correct................ i flew with Cathay Pacific's 747's and it was the most difficult landings i ever did.......

  • thanks for the videos, very valuable and historical, i miss HK

  • Gotta love it...RIP Kai Tak

  • even when an airliner has a 200 knot tail wind that increases its ground speed. does this increase the relative wind pressure and stress on the airframe. what effect does strong tail wind have on the air that attacks the wings. is flying through a strong tailwind a bit like flying through a fast flowing fluid/gas to explain it scientifically in a simple sort of sense. if an airplanes forward speed is faster already than the tail wind how does the tail wind catch up with the plane speed

  • one question, im am ppl taking my cpl and everytime i see these crosswind vids of the pros, when they are in crosswind they just put it down still crabbing. Is their rudder ineffective enough to straighten out the plane before touchdown or am i the only one that does that lol.

  • The rudder is effective enough, however the 777 is certified to land in a crab. When the 777 autolands it does a slip with the aircraft aligned with the centerline. The danger with doing the sideslip manually is striking the pod (wing engine) on the upwind side.

  • thanks for the info

  • Awesome landing! He took some "Dive" near the touchdown!

  • approach lukd high

  • Ну и что это за хрень??

  • That was a realy late touchdown :O

  • I landed there once, but i came from another way, first you think you are landing on the water, it was so scary! :S

  • @tompa214

Thats the way my plane went it flys directly past Hong Kong then makes a U turn over the sea :L i was flying from United Kingdom to Hong Kong . I think it does that because it needs more time to be confimed for landing. And also its better to make a turn over the sea than at hong kong airport cause it gives the plane more time to start its decent ;)

  • @tompa214 your full of shit your channel shows manly skaye videos of games ur such a kid and if you are a internatinal pilot why the fuck would u come in from another way its a 1 entery airport u tool

  • @rhemity I was n a fuckin trip to Vietnam, I caame from the other way you stupid ass. yes I´m a kid, thirteen actually. Who the fuck cares about what videos I like!? Fuck off u looser. Get a life -.-

And why the fuck would you know that it´s a one way airport. I know what I saw you moron.

  • @tompa214 hong kong isnt in vietnam u dumb fuck stfu stop talking shit one way airport planes all come in on the same runway in 1 direction so talk some more shit you imature little lieing fucker

  • @rhemity We made a stop over in Hong Kong! ! U dumb peice of a shit! Shut the fuck up! By the way, why the fuck do you even care!? I posted that comment NINE freakin months ago! Come on! Would you pleace get a life! Bitch you are wasting my time!

  • @tompa214 Actually you're wasting your own time by replying.

  • @stgelaisxavier Umm..ok?

  • @rhemity actually, kai tak has a full ILS equipped on the other side of the runway, i've made the runway 31 approach many times

  • @tompa214 Pretender

  • im diffinetly flying there the next time i play my flight simulator or atleast depart from there

  • this airport closed in 1998

  • I was watching some crosswind landings. Crossind is when the pilot moves the backs in order to land the plane against wind? )as you can see, I do not understand a damm) very nice. Someone can explain me?

  • They land sideways because of the wind, then when the wheels hit the ground, they turn back normal

  • @Skimmt kool!

  • @czczczuk A crosswind landing is when the pilot points the nose of the aircraft toward the wind to prevent being pushed off the runway.
