Im in 5b are you live the same or 5a? im just 35 min north of toronto. i have 2 that are almost the same hight if you want you can check mine out i just uploaded the vid this afternoon. it has most of my banana plants in it.
@kaczerm no im in a 5a. And I will check out your vids. Unfortunately this one didn't survive but the pups did, and they are getting up there, 4-5 of them are around 6ft if not more. I hope that they reach 10ft or so for this season, and i'll post a new vid soon.
@kaczerm thank you, However that was last year, and this year there are like 5 around the same height. I hope that they get close to the same height as last year. But that is great to hear about your 1st over winter was a success. You start somewhere. The banana's do grow big clumps over time. What zone are you in?
@rendallcat I cut it down to about 2ft. bubble wrap, Styrofoam cone, stuffed with dry leaves and then ceader mulch around it. We'll see how it does. I was told that you don't wanna completely seal it because you want airflow, or it will rot. Oh where are you in Canada?
Can you eat the bananas from this kind

Do these grow bananas

@unitedstateskingdom kinda, they need about 18 growing months so if you can get the false stem to come back often enough it will flower.....
