I love the old arts , but , I was getting ... well

..uncomfortable around the 5 minute mark .

I mean medieval archers weren't a bunch of benders ! That... 'musak' ?..jeeez Archers are Rammstein not pan-pipes ....

What a fantastic event! And fantastic archery! I'm going to have to go to this one day I love medieval history it's fascinating! I have a soft spot for the mighty Warbow, what a fantastic weapon it is! Great to see you guys shooting I love yours bows and gear!

Are there any more medieval festivals left this year before the dreaded winter arrives?

@lpilk2007 There probably are but I don't know of any. If you take a look at sites such as the Medieval Siege Society they usually publish a list of events. There is always a big English Heritage event at Battle in East Sussex commemorating the Battle of Hastings in October and I am giving a display with a few of the lads in this video at Waltham Abbey on the 8th October, but things begin to go quiet now until next May.

Can you explain what the archers are firing at 7:40? I'm sure it can't be real arrows due to there being people on the range in front of them!

@PSPmaster321 The archers are shooting arrows with rubber blunts on the end of the shaft instead of metal heads. They also use low poundage bows. The archers have to shoot high in the air so the arrows fall directly down, and all the troops on the opposite side have to wear helmets as protection from the impacts. Occasionally the archers will be allowed to flat shoot into the 'enemy', but only by prior arrangement and only at guys with visors down and wearing armour or padded jacks. Great fun!

@Mububban23 Ha, ha, yeah Luke certainly was giving it his all. He only took delivery of the bow a week before the event so he was still trying to get used to it. Give him a month or two and he will have it all the way back I'm sure.
