@sfdungeon ..Listening again Ani's vocal and musical style (I don't know her at all until now) is not to my liking. I am not one who thinks off-beat style is bad I just don't like hers. If you listen to Phil Och's version you will see how different... Of course I have heard Phil's many times and if you heard this first or you like her style than you will differ. I am not hear to fight about it just to express my feelings about a song I love. I can tell she really feels the song .. but..

msg to anyone: I can see that people on this site just love her - and get All into her. I just have my opinion and there is no right or wrong of course. So there is no need to analyze me or my tastes. The only thing is someone 5 months ago said that this doesn't acknowledge Phil Ochs as songwriter and really it should though at times the song is totally unrecognizable to anyone who loves Phil's version..

i love both Ani DiFranco and Phil Ochs, and i think it is wonderful that Ani knows Phil's music and does such a great job of keeping his spirit alive. The torch gets passed from one generation to the next, in the finest tradition of folk music.
