most songs don't make me cry anymore because they just don't have any passion in them...this one does, it has so much emotional power. i wish disney would make movies that made people stop and think about life again
esmeralda is such a good person. even though she could ask for so much she asks god to help others in more need. everyone should be more like her, even me
This song has such a powerful message. Especially when she says how she asks for nothing, but she knows people less lucky than her... I feel the same way- Im well off, but it inspires me to pray and help the people who don't have a life like mine...
when I was little I asked my mom why everybody hated qazimoto she said people were afraid of him because he was different I said that was a silly reason to hate somebody
stephen schwartz is a fantastic composer. he did loads of work with disney, wrote the music (not sure about the entire musical) for godspell and is the creative genius behind wicked. :)
This song makes me cry. It's so powerful and emotional; the scene where she is walking past the candles just completely chokes me up. And when she prays, "I aske for nothing, I can get by/But I know so many less lucky than I...." Oh, it breaks my heart.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame is definitely one of Disney's most emotional movies (at least in my opinion). Especially with such beautiful & powerful songs like "God Help the Outcasts" and "Heaven's Light/Hellfire"
The magic of Disney ended many years ago. What movies they are offering now?
High School Muisical, that is all based on merchandism? And all of the computer animation movies like Ratatouille and Bolt? What happened to the good old drawing art movies like Beauty ad the beast and Aladdin?
@Ohadlevi8000 Princess and the frog actually has the same feel, I LOVE Naveen and Tiana!! I was staring at Naveen's eyes the whole time, too..haha it really does belong in with the classics, I'm not joking. lol
@Ohadlevi8000 i definitely agree...i was so glad when they came out with the princess and the frog, because its like the old stuff and i hoped they'd all be like that, but i guess not :( i miss the drawn arts ones...they were the best
Well be lucky Phoebus is in this. In the original, he dies. In the original, he never really loved Esmeralda, and she ends up with another guy....I forget his name.
nope......its actually a character off of cinderella.......an old one i think..................but dont forget that belle is in this movie as well..........the bottom right hand corner when Quazie is singing that festival of fools song.........watch that part
In 1:33 it's kind of ironic how she is saying that she should not even speak to God,yet the main focus of Jesus' mission was to help and listen to the others that society has cast out.
that's the whole point of the song. that even though everyone is supposed to be listened to and that they all are "the children of God", obviously society doesn't care.
I think it's more she's speaking to Mary, because the statue she's looking at is obviously a woman and it would seem a mother.I think it's more about how she can kind of relate to her because Mary would've been considered an outcast for being pregnant outside of marriage. But that's just my opinion.
@yaoilittleprincess The Holy Family was also forced to flee into Egypt at one point, as well, making them literal outcasts. Esmeralda may not have been too familiar with Christian stories, but she's in a church covered in pictorial representations of the life of Jesus, for the benefit of non-Latin-speaking parishioners. She may have gotten the idea from there, too.
Ironic that, in the song, the unbeliever is the closest person to God.
@MyOwnNameWasTaken Also, Jesus Himself was an outcast. He spent time with tax collectors, Samaritans, prostitutes, and fishermen, who were all outcasts in that society. Jesus was crucified, which was not only an excruciatingly painful way to die, but was the most humiliating way to die. And He did it all for the sake of people including outcasts.
Hello Folks! Hope You Guys Enjoy this new video "God Help The Outcasts" which was made as part of the Hunchback Of Notre Dame series of Sing Alongs, all I want to say is to Credit Disney Enterprises for the awesome work they did in this song, but please comment and rate this video, and i recommend to see it in HQ: adding &fmt=18 . Esmeralda doesn't believe in God either... thts why she said I don't know if you can hear me, or if your even there.
But she still prayed, simply for the well-being of others...

Not all the newer Disney movies are bad-Wall-E is among one of the better, but it's still nothing like one of the old Disney movies.
BUT, in February, in the US, at least, they're doing a re-release of Beauty and the Beast in 3D. Ima go see it XD
