  • wow. too much thinking for the morning ( i shall come back later :L ) x

  • This is a really interesting video. I'm actually reading 1984 now as well, so I think I am going to wait until I've finished the book to give you a full response.

I prefer to get my news from social networking sites. I know which sources are reliable and which are not.

I think freedom is being allowed to believe what you want with respect to scientific facts. If that makes sense. I'm also not so sure about that though. I need to think about it more.

  • I I think there are different forms or layers to freedom. 2+2=4 is kind of the most base layer, the freedom to state what is fact. The proceeding layer would be freedom of opinion.(Often times people blur the line between fact and opinion, which should almost never happen. Although that in itself is an opinion so im going to move on.) The final layer would be an all inclusive form where you can say anything without societal repercussions. Internet anonymity would be closest to the second.

  • @dragafirefly That's really interesting. I never thought of freedom as having different forms. I thought it was this sort of all-encompassing thing.

  • PS: this video could use some naked Zac Efron

  • @StayFlyStephanie All of my videos could use some naked Zac Efron.

  • I've been thinking about the 2+2 =4 thing, and I'm still not sure what to think about it. I think I'd need to read the book itself. (I only know the general gist of it.) I'm going to use this opportunity to admit that I get most of my news from Youtube, Tumblr, and the Daily Show. I'm not really ashamed of it either. If I made it a priority to sit down and watch the news every day, it would just bog me down. If something is really important and relevant, it'll be on Tumblr in like 5 minutes.

  • All right, I'm going to talk about the nationalism question. I'd say that in the coming years, nationalism will not just die out. I think it'll come back with a vengeance for a few years, probably thanks to those who believe in functionally obsolete ideas, but it can be ridden out and I think it will die down then. Nationalism's last stand. Oh, sweet baby Jesus of Latter Day Saints...

  • @PolesitterPictures I'm pretty much in love with what you wrote. Because it's true. And because of the "thanks to those who believe in functionally obsolete ideas" phrase is just... such perfect wording.

  • @hellolover99 :D I'm glad that I could create such a satisfying and truthsome statement.

Also, as something of an aside, a friend of mine postulated that all freedoms fall under either "Freedom to Know" and/or "Freedom to Act". I thought that was interesting, because almost all of our rights fall under Freedom to Act in the Western world, but close to none in "Right to Know".

  • @PolesitterPictures I never thought about it that way. Hm.

  • @hellolover99 Neither did I until we had an impromptu Philosophy Club session together with another friend of mine. But there it is.

  • Excellent video indeed! :)

I personally prefer to find out my news from social networking sites these days. I feel they're much easier to stomach as well as sift through in finding accurate information (at least for me, as I know what to be wary of as fake). I also find it hysterical that facebook has so quickly become the bottom of the reliance list. I wonder why that is... hm.

  • @Nsnick88 Facebook was really close to not being included, but, it informed me about Amy Winehouse, so, I figured I owed it that at least. Other than that, I found a fake J.K. Rowling quote there. And, sometimes I TRY to educate my facebook friends, and have at time succeeded. :P

  • Part of freedom is being able to find out if what you say is true.

  • @TheMinuteVlog But what about God, and faith and things of that sort?

  • Excellent video :-)

I have a LOT to say about all of this & would love to make a video response. But right now I'm neck-deep in dissertation & can't make videos. I will be making a full-blown, all guns blazing response in about 2-weeks though :-D

  • @rossexton Looking forward to it! And good luck with your dissertation!
