  • I forgot about Charlie Bucket's Grandpa Joe being in this movie.

  • With Frank Drebbin as captain no wonder there cruise is domed!!!

  • Siehe "Costa" Unglück Italien 2012!

  • Okay this is NOT the original trailer. This is clearly fan-made. Why is it most everyone who creates fan-made trailers think it needs to be an abridged version of the whole movie? That's not what a trailer is supposed to be. And this is definitely not the trailer that ran in theaters prior to the film's release.

  • @vicgranata This is the original trailer, I got it from the DVD. I just noticed that somehow both the trailer and teaser made it into this video. The trailer ends and teaser starts at 3:17

  • worse new years eve movie ever

  • Better than Petersen's remake, and if you get tired of the action you can enjoy the numerous gratuitous shots of female behinds in skimpy shorts!

  • This makes me wanna go on a cruise.....

  • Ohh god I love these old vessels, please rescue the USS United States!

  • Did you notice that the both machine Telegraphs on the bridge are

set to full ahead (Even before they noticed the freak wave)

means = 28,6 Knots (due to Queen Marys Databook)

I cant believe that the ginat vessel would have been turned around by the wave if they had taken the rogue wave frontal with such a maximum speed.

  • Truly one of the greatest disaster movies of all times!!

    And those fantastic actors!!!!!!!!!

  • what was the film called again? i didnt quite catch that

  • When they said only 6 would survive i thought these would survive

    Linda

    Susan

    Robyn

    Reverend

    Belle

    Acres

  • ....awesome....the best disaster film of all time....my theory is that Stella Stevens hooters knocked the ship over! they are epic...

  • amazing!

  • i love the remade movie, love it but this one isthe original so i guess i have to watch it xD

  • The trailer gave away a lot.

  • I Love That Moviee'

  • Because of this movie, I am NEVER going on a cruise!!

  • Can somebody tell me the name of an old film where a greek god comes out of sea and holds 2 falling cliffs with his hands whilst a boat passes by!

  • I have this movie :D I got it on my birthday this year

  • @xTitanicPicx aw thats cool! for my birthday i got a full size bed

  • I've read the comments... nobody said, how dashing and brave Reverend Scott is.

He is the perfect hero, in my opinion. (And nowadays' teenegers? Most of them adore vampires. How strange? - I am 16 years old, but I never loved them. Hovever, I respect and admire Frank Scott.

Well done, Mr. Hackman - for me, you will always mean the same with the Reverend..

  • People can gave opinions but I would never say the remake beats the original. For one you can't beat the cast, Hackman, Nielsen, etc etc this is just a classic no matter what.

  • @blackoutcider I prefer the original. It's not just the all-start cast, but the film is properly viewed against the backdrop of all the epic disaster films of the 1070s (Earthquake, Towering Inferno).

  • I LOVE GENE HACKMAN!!!

  • I'm Pisces

  • Poseidon is from PISCES you know.

  • The remake is better.

  • poseidon is angry

  • The remake Sucked big time

  • @TheTalentedMrRipley1

I agree. I didn't like the re-make either. Nothing beats the original.

  • Doing this for TOM 2011 So sad.

  • must be a terrible way to spend New Year's...

  • i've been meaning to watch this movie ever since shelly winters guest starred on johnnny carson to promote this movie back in 1972 or 3. oh well one of these days.

  • Darlings. this was a kick ass movie. I was about 11 year old and lived every action packed minute of this film. WOW.

  • i really liked this movie ...Rogo ,I did not like.

  • On a totally different note, this is a great hot pants/upskirt movie.

  • captain was a dumbass, you steer staright into the wave and you will be fine

  • da boats a model and the over turn scene is real the set was built on a turn table im studying at school

  • @BeatmakerzUp True;I'd forgotten about those.

  • @ 0:51

    FAAAILL!

  • @tuxedo441: hmmm...on many ocean liners, the furniture is indeed bolted to the floor to avoid accidents while crossing rough waters. The transatlantic crossing (NYC to Southhampton) can be one of the worst at certain times.

  • Aww! It's Titanics prequal! Haha! :)

  • This movie is so sad!

  • i KNOW the 2006 one is better then this one ( i never seen this one only 2006 one) but just by looking at the commercial for this i can see that its not a very clear sight plus in FURGES IN THE OTHER ONE :3 lol but she dies :'(

  • LMFAO at the table staying where it was when the boats upside down

  • @69DawgEstyle tables on large passenger ships are usually pinned to the floor so it wont constantly move due the waves of the sea...

  • Always amazed me how there was only ever ONE kid, amongst all the other people,in each disaster movie-P.A.,Towering Inferno, the "Airport" movies....

  • @recoverfromhydro In the original Poseidon Adventure novel, Robin runs off to use the bathroom (like in the movie)...but he never comes back.

  • 1:39 is creepy

  • @OfficialJackPrice i dont get it wha is he falling in to like rlly hot watter or something?

  • hhaha.. its leslie nielson A.K.A Frank Drebin

  • They should re-make this movie! On the original Queen Mary. With the classic interiors, ect. A fully re-make of this movie.

  • the greatest disaster film of all time

  • @meadeser While I like this one,I think "Inferno" is the best.

  • ES EL TRAILER DE LA PELICULA "BRITANIC" EN EL 2000 ES EL BARCO RMS BRITANNIC SEGUIDO DEL RMS "TITANIC" Y EL OLIMPYC QUE TAMBIEN CHOCARON COMO EL "TITANIC" CHOCO CON UN ICBERG EL "BRITANNIC" CON UNA MINA CHOCO Y EL" OLIMPYC" CHOCO CON UN BUQUE

  • Leslie Neilson

  • We Will Be Ghost Hunting On The Queen Mary April 15, 2011

  • Forget the more recent. It`s pure shit.

  • I don't like old movies :< I like the new one.

  • @Juanpb1983 I have loved this film since I was 8/9. It is one of my 5 favourite films.

But I did manage to enjoy the 2006 version, it wasn't nearly as good as this but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

  • Queen Mary

  • @Juanpb1983 CONFUSED, AM I?

  • @Juanpb1983 The Captain (Leslie Neilson) died last year.

  • BEST. DISASTER FILM. EVER.

  • @pm41224 I second that!

  • While preceded by "Airport" (1970) this is the best disaster thriller ever made, far outshining its successors and the genre it spawned. Big, but not too big.The story follows a single group of characters fighting to survive, shows you enough of them to make you care if they live or die and doesn't "hopscotch" between various groups of characters caught up in different parts of the same disaster, as later films do.

  • ........i dont know i dont like this version i like the newest one...

  • the greatest disaster flick ever! not to mention the towering inferno

  • Watching this film on the big screen was amazing. Watching it on TV doesn't do it justice....same thing with Irwin Allen's Towering Inferno...got to see them on a big screen...like at some college film school screening.

  • Overheard on the SS Poseidon: "HAPPY 1973! ! ! Oh F***, what was THAT?!"

  • I love this movie, so much better then the 06 one.

  • R.I.P. Leslie Nielsen - Captain Harrison :(

  • why do the tables and chairs stay stuck to the ceiling.

  • @thesurgeon - Sometimes the tables and chairs on ships are fixed to the floor so they don't slide around in rough weather.

  • lol. I always forget that people in the 70's dressed like clowns.

  • @gojewla Yea, now they dress like trash.

  • @gojewlaLlike they don't dress like slobs today...lol...

  • @Robo1415 Well that's certainly true often these days too. My favorite are the guys whose pants look like they are falling down.

  • i remember this used to scare the shit out of me when i was a kid

  • Esse filme assombrou minha infância!

  • II love the technicolor aura of these 60s and 70s movies its just like a true documentyra on true film..no digital computer generated and CHEAP fake crap

  • This film ha the true aura!!

  • Loved the falling scene!

  • 2:03 Oh look, it's Cabby from Escape from New York :)

  • These effects are very good for it's time.

  • you all know that there was a sequel to this called "Beyond the Poseidon Adventure".

this movie was worse than the new movie for the graphics, & this one was better for the story-line

  • At 2:21 with Belle with Acres, is that scene in the movie? I don't remember seeing that part before.

  • @Ulalafanboy It's the part where they enter the kitchen and Belle immediately freaks out.

  • Never turn your broadside to danger! Something Captain EJ Smith of the Titanic told his number 1 after the impact!

  • Why are the chairs and tables glued to the floor?

  • @cadkins90 bolted to the floor

  • @moneybelt22 I know but why?! It's a freakin cruise ship!

  • @cadkins90 it could by using j bolts and certain table parts

  • PAMELA SUE MARTIN FTW!!! <3

  • Poseidon 2006 makes this look like a doggy hamlet

  • "POSEIDON" EL COMIENZO DE LA EPOCA DE ORO DEL CINE CATASTROFE DE LOS 70 EXELENTE Y CLASICA PELICULA DE DESASTRE AUNQUE SE HICIERON VERIOS REMAKE COMO ESTA LA ORIGINAL DE 1972 NINGUNA.

  • ive seen both and i like the 2006 better

  • The only part I enjoyed in the 2006 one was the actually capsising and the horror of it but even that is better done by the 1972 one.The 2006 one sucked.

  • do you have the version in 2005?

  • 2006 one is better

  • 4:09 Anti gravity technology, it exists!

  • I just bought this..now I have 3 different versions of this movie on DVD. lol. This one, some other one with Steve Guttenburg, and then the new 2006.

  • looks like titanic

  • This is in 480p, which is not HQ. Doesn't anyone know the meaning of HQ anymore?

  • @jgrab1 HQ stands for high quality, not high definition.

  • @funnyz As I said, doesn't anyone know the meaning of HQ anymore?

480p is nothing special—9-% of YouTube is that way. So it's nothing special, and not "H" anything.

  • It's interesting that right after the "peace and love" idealism of the late 60's movie audiences were ready for disaster films. Think about it: right before the "turn over" scene, everyone is partying and dancing and having fun before "the new wave" puts an end to it and kills many people in fire and the "flood". Popular movies always reflect the current zeitgeist of the times... The Kennedy Camelot years were long gone, and the Nixon era was prevalent.

  • I love how when the ship turns over, half of the chairs are still up in the air !!

  • I'm going on a cruise at the end of the year !! and its a new years eve cruise too !!!!..... hahahahahah omg !!!!!

  • CGI killed movies.

  • Pretty awesome! This movie is the bomb; I only wish that the overturning sequence in the ballroom had been slightly more convincing. It is fantastic for what it is; perhaps I've just watched it too many scores of times and have become a bit too critical.

  • This movie was so amazing in the early 70's, the whole Poseidon up side down, and Gene Hackman made and unforgettable performance on this Movie......

  • omg, people had nothing to watch in the old days!!! lol

  • There's got to be a morning after...

  • Wow 0:21 it's LT. Frank Drebbin Police Squad.

Even he couldn't prevent the Poseidon disaster?

    :-)

  • @Tigelinus Surely, there was something he could have done?

  • @mdumas43073 He did everything he could. And stop calling him "Shirley."

  • @MarnieReeves I hope so, because they were all counting on him.

  • this movie was made FIRST and then titanic

  • Classic Disaster Movie from the 70's!

  • not bad

  • Um Längen besser als das Remake!!! Der Film, die Besetzung, die Spannung einfach Alles genial gemacht!!!! Eine fantastische Shelley Winters!!!! Woooww!!!!!

  • the ship raminds me of titanic..

  • it was queen mary

  • esta pelicula es una de mis preferidas ya que fue la primera que vi en el cine es una produccion de exelente calidad y muy buenos efectos especiales

  • muy buena produccion

  • On 1:13 the ship turns upside down and people are falling everywhere, except for the tables and chairs staying intact....hmmmm. Regardless, this was a great movie.

  • fyi mr tuxedo441, fixtures such as tables and chairs are all permanently attached on the floring to avoid unnecessary moves whle ship is in motion on the high seas. Check out construction of a modern ship.

  • @tuxedo441 On liners from that era, tables were bolted to the floor and chairs were secured with a small length of cord from the underside of the seat and hooked to the floor directly beneath them. Simply a matter of accuracy and attention to detail on the part of the filmmakers.

  • The tables and chairs would have been bolted down in case of rough seas. Its a typical safety measure.

  • @dracotharpian It wasn't in the script!

  • nightofthe shape3.First of all I`m sorry for my English cause I`m Argentine poor black but....How the hell has to do your comment with a silly movie and an argument for a Drama?? No boy think in this case as a movie watcher... Bye Friend

  • i saw this film when i was a kid...

i had nighmares for different years...

  • Omg ive just seen this movie i so love it!!!

  • looks better than the '06 one

  • @sweetness902101209 yes, if you're blind <3

  • @sweetness902101209 well it is

  • @sweetness902101209 witch one was the 06 one the 2 one cuz the last one was the best

  • @sweetness902101209

much much much more realistic an better I love the technical aura of the 70s-

this wintage vessel is also much much much nicer than the ugly brick called poseidon in 2006

  • @sweetness902101209 haha exactly u that its gross revenue was 84 million dollars that was a huge number back then

  • @sweetness902101209 It is,absolutely!

  • This original version looked and felt more real than the 2006 version ever could. This is the best version by far.

  • too much screaming over water. anyone would of thought it was texas chainsaw massacre lol

  • I saw this film for the first time yesterday and loved it!

  • Belle wasn't enough! Acres wasn't! Now this hooker--er, girl!

  • By far the best disaster movie out there. It scared the hell outta me when I was a kid. It never gets old every time i watch it.

  • This was a cool movie. I've seen it more times than necessary.

  • it's better new version of 2006

  • the christmas tree is just like from the phantom of the opera

  • this is one of my most favorite films

no one makes trailers OR movies like this anymore

i'd sure like to one day...

  • Thanks for posting the long trailer, as well as the abbreviated one. I was 8 when this movie came out and it was terrifying, fascinating...and addictive.

  • i love shelly winter she played Mrs. rosen i was so sad when shelly winters died in 2006

  • I'm sure the primetime commercials were much shorter and didn't give everything away.

  • This trailer basically shows you which characters die, and how. Of course, I only know that because I've seen the film several times over the years, but still... it seems like there are lots of unnecessary spoilers here. (This was a great 70s popcorn flick, though.)

  • "Oh my god"

    Yup,That sums it up nicely

  • Mrs. Rosen is old, don't you think?

  • I have a friend who hates trailers like this. He says, what's the point in paying money to see the movie when the trailer is the entire film?
