What I always wanted in life: one to walk with me in the heather. Too bad I took my father;s advice and only married townie/city girls. They know not the glory of the Blessed Wildlands.
The best work of the Clancy Brothers were the years they had Tommy Makem as their fourth member. His soulful voice, and great musicianship added so much to the overall sound. I really think he was heart and soul of the group. None of the combinations that followed ever had the same quality. Same thing with the Kingston Trio; after the original three separated, the group was never quite the same.
I still miss the Clancy Brothers with Tommy Makem. Their music lives on forever.
excellent. i was just humming the song, came down stairs, plugged it in and here it is. I grew up listening to their music, I met Liam fifteen years ago in Ireland. I'm a big fan, thanks for posting this.

This is hard for me to watch. About two weeks before he died, Tommy called me to ask how I was doing! I lost my voice to cancer.

I love them - just wonderful true singers, no airs or graces, just genuine music. It makes me cry everytime I hear them sing.
