This is the first R-Type I've played and I loved it, especially this stage. I have Final but still haven't beaten it yet. I want to play the older ones as well though. Good job!

god the beginning of this level is impossible if you are a. not using r-13 and b. don't have any upgrades. I try and try to take out the cannon but those little ships take me out every time.

you could tell they put more effort in Delta than they did with Final, except of course the crazy number of ships and variations Final has, so it does have more replay value.

R-Type Delta is IMO, the best game of the series. The graphics were awesome (for the time) the stage design was excellent, the music is probably R-Type's best (It really fits the tone of the series better than the other games did.) and did an excellent job bringing that classic R-Type challenge to 32-bit. Final was great for its story and extras, but the level designs were kinda bland.

Very fast boss, but the bit before it, you should just shoot your force at the two guns, before all them rotating blue things come out, but you probably knew that
